Chalk fun

Our evening was a little different than usual. I try to keep a strict schedule in the afternoons/evenings because if I don't, bedtime gets pretty hectic! Today was a little different. We ate dinner around 5 and then headed out to deliver a couple meals to moms in my mom's group that just had babies. We call it "Dinner Angels" and it's a wonderful idea. I know I appreciated it so much after having Kallie. So I always try to make meals when I can. :) After that, we ran through the bank and then headed to Target to return something. When we got home, it was beautiful out. So we got the chalk and camera out and started playing.

They ran around and played.

Kallie fell and Kensley chased her around trying to look at her boo-boo.

We drew with chalk and I attempted to get one of those infamous chalk pictures. It was a fail. I am determined to get better as an artist and teach Kensley how to work with me on piCtures like this! She had no idea what I was trying to get her to do.

We ran around some more. I chased Kallie around trying to get a picture of her looking at me. All I got was the back of her head. And this:

With the occasional glance over at me.

The girls found rocks somewhere and played with them for a while. Kensley looked at me every now and then to get a picture.

We took water breaks

And we attempted the chalk picture. One.Last.Time........ =Fail. Again. Maybe next time?

When we got back inside, I looked at the clock.... 7:50. What?! Kallie goes to bed between 7:30-8. haha so we took about a 3 minute bath and Kallie was in bed by 8:10- Kensley in bed by 8:30. Whew!

Hope everyone had a blessed day!

Feeding the hungry

***Written on Sunday, June 26***

Our pastor told us last Sunday that the next Sunday would be a church service you'd never experienced before. And he was right! We woke up this morning and I told Kent that today was going to be different. He's not one to love change. So he was a little hesitant. We were welcomed in the parking lot by a bunch of greeters in red shirts. When we got intside, they had the big youth/kid room set up with tables and people were gathered in ther around the tables with hair nets on. We were about to do some physical labor!

The organization "Stop Hunger Now" works with feeding the hungry. Our church helps out with Nicaragua and raised a LOT of money to send meals over there. This morning our church service was dedicated to filling rice bags and packaging them. We ended up packaging up 290,000 meals!!!! WOW! I have never been a part of something like this and I will say, I choked back tears multiple times while we were packing the rice. I'm not sure if you remember a few posts back where I mentioned I wanted to feed the hungry. I told Kent this was a start! We worked the loading station. We took the packaged rice and boxed them up. One of the guys in our group went around to the tables collecting buckets full of packaged rice and ran them to us. I'm telling you, this event was awesome. God is great. 290k meals! Amazing.

I snapped a picture and video of the whole process. It was definitely a church service I had never witnessed before! <3

Random pictures

We have been busy and will be even busier later this week--- so here are some pictures from my phone from the past few days. :)

Kallie does whatever Kensley does now days... ;)

We went to the mall to get some stuff for Kent and Kensley found some sunglasses she liked. She looks so cute with them on! Hopefully her love for them will last for the beach trip!

Waiting to go to church!

Enjoying some ice cream in the nice evening weather!

Happy Father's Day!

Well, unfortunately we don't get to spend the day with daddy- he's doing work stuff :( But he'll be home later this week and we'll celebrate then!

I wanted to look back on the past few years of Kent as a daddy....

Year 1: 2009 Kensley was about 10 months old.

Year 2: 2010 Who would have thought- he now has TWO little girls to be the best daddy to :) And he does one heck of a job.

Year 3: 2011

The mom's group I'm in held a play date to do crafts. Daddy made out well this year! Kensley can't wait to give it to him :) The "kit" is Super Hero- themed. Too cute!

Me and the girls are so blessed to have Kent in our lives. He is the most tender hearted man I know. It is so sweet to see him interact with his girls. God knew when he was doing when he blessed us with these two beautiful girls. I can't wait to see what the future holds!

Happy Father's Day Kent! We love you!

Friday Night Live

A friend invited us to Friday Night Live and we had a blast! Kensley and her friend Leah had so much fun dancing around together--- Kallie had a lot of fun too. It's been SO hot here lately--- upper 90's. But this evening was beautiful. Nice breeze. We stayed until around 9:15. The girls were OUT by the time we got home. I put them straight to bed. Clothes and all. :)

Kallie: 15 months

Happy 15 months, Kallie!

15 months?! What?! My baby is no longer a baby. She has the toddler look now. Here's what is going on in miss Kallie's life right now:

LIKES:
- running around the house yelling
- Yogurt- the gogurt ones. She runs to the refrigerator and goes straight to the drawer with the snacks.
- snacks in general.
- she loves whatever her big sister has.
- her morning milk. She drinks her whole cup and then the rest of Kensley's
- riding in the stroller
- riding in her cozy coupe car
- trying to ride Kensley's bicycle
- the pool--- she is NOT afraid of anything! She loves blowing bubbles
- taking naps & going to bed. We rock in the chair and laugh before I put her down. <3 One of my favorite times of the day with her DISLIKES: - Kensley playing with her toys. She has a temper and will let out some LOUD screams! - Peanut butter- she's not really a fan I can't think of too many dislikes. She eats really well and is pretty happy most of the time. She's not as clingy any more and it is SO nice! She and Kensley will play while I can get things done. Oh- her "words" are: Momma (ALL the time) Dada Dat! - she points and things and yells this bub-bub - puppy. When she sees one she goes crazy and yells bub-bub! tane-two - Thank You deh-doh - There you go

Moments that melt my heart

This is mainly to have on the record :)

Our schedule tonight was a little different. We took at bath at about 5:30- then we ate dinner. After dinner, I let the girls play while I cleaned the kitchen and picked up. We went upstairs to get ready for bed and after I changed Kallie's diaper, I told her to go tell Kensley night-night. She trotted into the bedroom and waved to Kensley. I had to explain to Kensley that it was polite to say goodnight to her sister since she was waving at her 90 miles and hour. She finally told her night-night and waved to her. Kallie and I were just about to walk out of the room when Kensley asked for her water. I told her I didn't have any water upstairs for her. So Kallie and I headed to her room- Kallie babbled something off the entire way to her room. She walked to the ottoman, picked up her bottle of milk, and turned around and ran into the bedroom and gave it to Kensley. She told her "there you go" in her baby-talk. :swoon: My heart melted. How sweet of her! I didn't make her do it or anything. She understood Kensley asking for water and she knew her milk was in her room- so she shared it. Makes me tear up thinking about it. :)

here's a funny picture from today. (cell)

Kallie was acting a little odd at nap time. She is usually so easy to put down-- but she kept crying today. I think her belly hurt. So she ended up crawling in Kensley's bed and falling to sleep. (her nap was only a little over hour today vs her usually 3 hour nap----- so don't think I'll be taking her out of her crib any time soon! haha)

Peanut Butter Jelly Time!

Kensley is now wanting to make her own PB&J sandwiches. It's too cute.

Trip to the Aquarium

Yesterday we took a trip to the Baltimore Aquarium. Holy hugeness! It took us 2 hours to walk through it- and we skimmed through the last part because the girls were ready to leave! But we had a blast and they were really good for having to walk the whole time. (No strollers allowed) It was super busy- there were TONS of people in there... and it was H-O-T. But nonetheless, I was glad we went and knocked that off our "bucket list" :)

One of the million reasons I love my camera is the ISO capabilities. :) I cranked that baby up to 5000 at times! Yes, grainy- but I was able to just add a little noisewaire to help out :)

The girls loved the Dolphins!

The jelly fish were so neat! Lindsey and I liked the jellies and dolphins the best. Too bad the dolphin show was sold out!

Hanging outside for a while before we could get into the aquarium.
