Camping at Lake Martin

We spent Tuesday and Wednesday at Wind Creek State Park on Lake Martin with my parents. They rented a 2 bedroom cabin and invited us to come along. We had a great time. The cabin is very basic but it does have air conditioning, a bathroom, a small kitchen area with a microwave, toaster, coffee pot and small dorm size fridge. We did most of our cooking outside on the Coleman grill. Dad was our chief while we were there and the food was delicious!

Tuesday night we built a bonfire so we could make s’mores. Camilla loved them. The next morning we realized she had marshmallow all stuck in her hair! Wednesday morning when we woke up there were a ton of ducks waiting outside our cabin to be fed. Camilla had a blast feeding them bread crumbs. I guess the ducks know that people stay here so they came over several times a day to be fed.
After breakfast, we went swimming. There is a “beach front” area inside the park that Camilla loved. It was a little bizarre being at what looked like a beach but not hearing the sound of waves. It was great for Camilla because she could just swim on her own. The beach makes me so nervous that I barely let her put her feet in for fear of her being pulled out into the ocean! Marty met us here and spent the rest of the day Wednesday with us.

We also did a little fishing but we didn't have too much luck. Dad caught a bass but we were not there to see the fish so does it really count?? Mom, Marty and I caught some little fish in Camilla’s mesh toy bag while we were at the beach area. Camilla played with the first fish we caught so much that it died but she didn’t care she just kept playing with it. I asked what is his name and she said Nemo – like duh Mom what else would his name be!

We had a great time and will definitely go back!

Fishing

Today, we went on an impromptu fishing trip at the Sturbridge ponds after music this morning. We originally went to the pond to feed the ducks but they would not come near us so we started feeding the fish. They were starving so we went back to Mom and Dad's house and got some fishing polls and hot dogs. Dad did most of the fishing but he let Camilla reel them in. She loved it. Here are some pictures with her first fish - "Freddy the Fish" - Freddy is currently in a Ziploc bag in our fridge so Daddy can see him when he gets home!

We are leaving to go camping at Wind Creek State Park on Lake Martin tomorrow so this is good practice for the days ahead!

Kelly's Baby Shower

Saturday afternoon, I hosted a baby shower for my sister, Kelly, at our home. Little Olive is due October 5th and we can’t wait to meet her! We had a great turnout of friends and family and Olive got some really cute goodies!

Thanks to my friend, Cameron, for helping make the diaper cake on Friday night. We had a slight Strawberry Shortcake theme since that is Kelly’s favorite. I got a little Strawberry Shortcake doll to put on top of the cake and it looked so cute. I think Kelly really liked it.

Here are some pictures from the shower….

Grandma's Attic

Today, we went to Grandma’s Attic with Camilla’s “besties” – Alli, Ellen, Callie and Rissie! The girls had so much fun playing dresses up and playing with all the “old stuff” in Grandma’s attic! These girls are going to cherish each other for a lifetime…I just know it! We ended our day with a trip to Chick-fil-a!
Playing with trains and...
