Willow's 12th Birthday !!

Willow turned 12 on Sunday, September 14, and got to go to Young Women's for the first time on her birthday!
The Beehive class decorated Willow's room to welcome her into Young Women's.
Opening presents in her new dress....she wanted a new dress since she was going up on the stand during sacrament meeting to be welcomed into Young Women's.
Willow got to meet her cousin Max for the first time on her 12th birthday.
Max is now 3 months old.

Sunday, September 14th, we celebrated Willow's 12th birthday. The day before her birthday I took Willow and her friend Sarah out to lunch and then to see the movie "Mamma Mia!" I let Willow choose anywhere she wanted to eat and we ended up at McDonalds. I think her choice was based on the fact that McDonalds has Wizard of Oz dolls as the happy meal prize right now.
Willow was excited to finally be moving from primary into Young Women's. When she had her interview with the Bishop the previous week he asked her twice if she was excited to be getting baptized. Poor Willow. I keep telling her it's an advantage to be shorter if you're a girl, she'll always get to wear high heels and never worry about being taller than any boy at a dance.
On Sunday we had dinner with Kenyon's family and got to see Max for the first time since he left the hospital. (Max is Kenyon's youngest sister Ashlee's baby she gave up for adoption.) Willow was at summer camp the week Max was born, so this was the first time she got to see him. He had his mouth piece in to prepare his mouth for surgery to repair his cleft lip. His surgery will be on September 23rd. He had such a sweet spirit. He smiled and laughed for everyone.
Here is a list of 12 reasons why I love Willow...
1. She has a beautiful smile.
2. She is always mindful of helping handicap kids or kids who need a friend.
3. She has great fashion sense.
4. She has great hair. She chose her haircut and gets compliments all the time on her flipped 'do.
5. She is a great reader.
6. She likes to spend time with her mom shopping or going out to eat.
7. She is a good student.
8. Anyone who meets her instantly likes her.
9. She is very creative.
10. She has taught herself how to sew and can sew pillows, dolls, doll clothes by hand.
11. She always tells me she loves me when I drop her off at school.
12. She has a good heart.

Willow's broken pinky =(

Last Wednesday I got a call from the elementary telling me Willow had gotten hurt during P.E. Her teacher said she was crying and couldn't talk to me on the phone. I asked her what happened and she said someone had run into Willow's pinky finger. I asked the teacher if it looked broken and she said, "Well....it's growing." When I got to the school I took one look at Willow's purple swollen finger and thought to myself, "Yep. It's broken." After a quick trip to the doctor, followed by a trip to the hospital for x-rays we confirmed what I already knew. Her pinky was broken. She had chipped the bone on the outside portion of her middle joint on her left pinky...luckily she's right-handed. She has to wear a splint for 3 weeks. The first week is over and the finger has gone from purple to green to a blue-ish black shade. She was sad she missed the swimming portion of her P.E. class, but she does have a purple bandage which matches most of her outfits.

Weston's 10th Birthday !

Happy Birthday Weston !

My sweet Weston turned 10 years old on September 1st! Weston was born in Portland, Oregon and came into this world right on his due date weighing in 2 ounces shy of 10 pounds! He was such a good baby and had a calm, happy disposition. It was love at first sight for his mom.

These are the top 10 reasons I love my Weston...

1. He has fantastic dimples when he smiles. =)

2. He is always willing to give up his share of treats, prizes or snacks if someone else didn't get a fair share.

3. He never just gives me a kiss goodbye, always a kiss and a hug.

4. He is a good friend.

5. He is a natural athlete.

6. He has great self-confidence. Whenever I tell him he's done a good job on something he says, "I know, I'm awesome."

7. He still lets me hold him when he's not feeling good.

8. He is always sad when I have to go to work.

9. He is a great brother.

10. He is my gentle giant.

Weston, we love you!

Virchow Family Party at Midway

Kenyon's mom and his SIX sisters and one brother.
Jan, Kris, JanaRae, Kenyon, Teressa, Weston, Emily, Aly & Ashlee.

All the Virchow siblings and spouses.

At the end of August Kenyon's older sister JanaRae celebrated her 40th birthday. Last year Kris celebrated her 40th and next year Kenyon will celebrate his 40th....that's right, 3 kids in 3 years. After which Jan took a year off before having Teressa. I still ask her what she was thinking having 3 kids so close together.

Anyway, JanaRae's husband had a surprise party for her at the Inn on the Creek in Midway. It's been a long time since all the brothers and sisters have been together. We got to see a slide show of JanaRae which included a lot of childhood family photos. My boys look so much like Kenyon when he was young. We had a lot of fun. Kids just don't appreciate sitting around a table and talking and telling stories for hours on end.
