Surprise Birthday Dinner!

Maria, Holly, Kimberly & Kim
-The Cheesecake Factory-

What I thought would be an evening at Book Club turned out to be a birthday dinner at The Cheesecake Factory with 3 amazing friends! Maria and I have shared backyards for the last 10 years. Not only is she a great neighbor...she's become a great friend. Many of you have heard me mention Dean & Maria and their dogs Petie and Lu. Kimberly's daughter Halle is my little Gracie's best friend. She also shares a backyard with us. Kim lives the farthest away....4 houses.

These are the friends I can always be authentic with.

These are my
"I need a cup of sugar,
stick of butter,
Diet Coke,
late night Del Taco run,
watch James Bond together,
cry through a chick flick"
friends.....and much, MUCH more!

These are the neighbors that make you NEVER want to move!

I love you girlfriends!

AH Rocks!

-Birthday lunch at the Blue Lemon-
Mindy, Tara, Holly & Kirsti
On the day of my 39th birthday I met 3 of my best friends for lunch at the Blue Lemon in Alpine. Tara and I have been working at Alpine Pediatrics together for over 5 years now! Mindy and Kirsti have been working with me over 4 years! These 3 amazing people are the reason I love going to work. It's never really felt like work....more like getting paid to hang out with friends.
How do I love them, let me count the ways....
*Mindy's movie impersonations AND her British accent
*Tara's knowledge of all song lyrics from 1970 to the present day
*Kirsti's sense of humor
*Mindy's amazing singing voice
*Tara's razor sharp memory
*Kirsti's fiscal/financial advice
*Mindy's love of Mr. Bauer
*Tara's love of MJ
*Kirsti's love of spandex
I love every minute we spend together.
Here's to you girls!

Girl's Camp

- Spring Hollow Ward Young Women Leaders-
Alicia, Martha, Holly, Jeneil, Lis & Shauna
This was Willow's first year to attend Girl's Camp and I was so grateful to be there with her. I was released fromYoung Women's last December, but was given a last minute calling as Assistant Camp Leader, so I could justify my time at camp. These leaders are such great women and even better friends! Our camp was in Heber at the new Marjorie Hinckly campsites. Sister Hinckley's vision was that the girl's should focus on having fun and not have as many discomforts of camping. Just another reason to love Sister Hinckley. We slept in cabins and each camp area had bathrooms, showers and a pavilion with picnic tables.
On the third night of camp Jenny Phillips came and performed a fireside. She's a singer and songwriter who writes a lot of songs for the church. She had an amazing testimony and spirit she brought with her. I was in tears after her first song. All of the songs about following the Savior's light have just as much relevance for me as a 38 year old single mother, as they do for these young girls. I wanted to thank her personally after the fireside and she was gracious enough to have her picture taken with me.
I have missed serving in Young Women's. I loved the sisters I served with and consider them among my closest friends. I also miss sharing those experiences with Willow. Willow had so much fun and got along with all of the girls in the ward. She was one of only 2 beehives "allowed" to sleep in the same cabin as the laurels. She was told many times how "cute and little" she is.
Willow and I left camp a day early to drive to Rexburg for Weston's baseball tournament. We missed the last night with the bishopric and testimony meeting, but Willow said, "That's ok, cuz we don't have to help clean the cabins."

all the brothers chillin'

Johnny was able to come home for 2 weeks during the month of June...on leave from his deployment in Afghanistan. He planned his break to be past his half-way mark to make it easier when he had to go back. His deployment will end some time in October.
After his first 2 deployments...one to Iraq and another in Afghanistan....Johnny came home and decided to be a helicopter pilot. He is now serving for a third time as a Blackhawk Pilot.
We miss you Johnny and can't wait for you to come home!

All-Star Caveman

After the regular baseball season ended Weston found out he made the All-Star 11 year old team. The all-star tournament was held in Rexburg, Idaho the last week of June....which also happened to be the same week as Girl's Camp! Kenyon took Weston and Grace up a day earlier than the rest of us, so Weston could be well rested before his games. During the tournament they had a 10 p.m. curfew and no swimming in the morning before the games. Their team made it to the finals, but sadly lost in their first game that day. Weston got to play on the same team as his best friend, Chandler Wood, which made it all worthwhile.
We've already had coaches for the 12 year old league tell us they're hoping to get Weston on their team next year!

GO METS!

Weston played for the Mets for the second year. He has played pitcher in the past, but this year he was one of only two players who could throw the ball from home base to second base, so his coach asked him to try out catching. Weston loved it! He liked being involved in every play. He had to train himself to keep his right hand behind his back while he was catching. Weston had a great coach this year. Weston always likes to swing at the first pitch when he was up to bat and if it wasn't a good pitch...or a good swing...his coach would say, "Come on Westy, you know better than that." His coach always called him Westy.
Good Job Westy!
