Alexis ballet recital

Alexis did a fantastic job at her dance recital.  We were all there cheering her on.  Dad brought flowers once again.  Thank goodness since she asked about a half dozen times if she was going to get flowers after the recital.

Jacob 5th grade wax museum

Jacob just completed a huge project at school today.  He was Wilbur Wright for the 5th grade wax museum.  He had to study, memorize and dress up as Wilbur Wright.  He did a great job.

Oregon

The family was able to go to Oregon for five days!  We were able to finalize housing, tour the kids schools, meet the coaches on the swim team, go to our new ward, and check out the coast.

We rented a home with VRBO.com.  It was amazing!!  I wish we would have done this years ago.

We were also there over Mothers Day.  Wayne made a delicious breakfast and had bought me some new clothes the day before.  I am a lucky girl.

Boston Marathon 2014

Wayne and I were able to fly out to Boston this year for the marathon.  My sister and mom were able to come and watch the kids.  This year the marathon was a day after Easter!  I was so glad they could come and still make that holiday special for the kids.

Training this year was rough during the Polar Vortex Minnesota was experiencing this winter.  I did almost everything on the treadmill and stair stepper.  Come race day I was as prepared as I could be in the conditions I had to train in.

The race was amazing.  There were a million people lining the course.  Since it was one year after the the bombings more security was in place.  There were snipers on the roof of the building next to athletes village.  There were military police, local police and homeland security.  There were bomb sniffing dogs at the finish.  Jacob was nervous that I was running this year.  I told him I don't think there could be a safer place.

I love how people come together, families handing out water bottles, people with orange slices and bananas, children with gummy bears and licorice.  It is incredibly touching.

I ran by Dick and Rick Hoyt for their final Boston run.  Their story is beyond inspiring.

I had to stop at the medical tent (for the first time in all of my racing) just past mile 18 because my achilles were dying.  Not being able to train on the pavement did me in.  The medical team stretched me out, iced my legs, and told me to walk the uphills.  It was slow this year (4:02), but I finished.  I cried when I finished.  Wayne knew I would not be happy with my time . . .and I wasn't.  The course beat me up this year, but the people were amazing.  This race is my favorite.

The line to get my bib number.  The expo was insane!!

Inside the expo.  We had just bought my official Boston jacket.
