Why I decided to do TWO in ONE day???? Anyway these were way fun and the kids had a blast doing them ..... at least I hope they did! lol!!
Here are the recipes is you want to try ( very cheap too!!)
Fish Soap ( lol)
2 lb block of clear glycerin soap ( used my 40%$ off at Michael's for this !)
Wooden skewers ( had wooden Kabob sticks that we used or a toothpick would work just as well!)
Blue Food Coloring
8-in square baking pan
Waxed paper
Fish shaped cookie cutter ( again used another 40% off at Micheal's- cheap!)
25-in of twine or any heavy string
Clear tape ( or just TAPE!)
Melt soap ( directions on package- this did take longer than thought so kiddos were a little distracted at this process! lol) With skewer stir in blue food coloring until desired color ( we did about 10 for a light blue/sea color). Line baking pan with waxed paper and pour in melted soap. Allow to cool ( says 20 min - ours took more towards 30), then lift waxed paper out to remove soap from pan. Use cookie cutter to create fish ( 6 total), then poke an eye and mouth hole in each with wooden skewer. Knot one end of the twine and wrap the other end with a piece of tape. Thread the tape end through each mouth hole, knotting the twin between each fish to separate them :) TADA!!!
Coolest Easter Eggs
Small flat leaves ( we used grass/clover- anything from our yard!)
Hard-boiled eggs
Nylon stocking- cut in 3in. section
Rubber bands ( we used small hair ties that we had)
Water
White Vinegar
Food Coloring
Large Glasses ( big enough so egg can fit and lay in!)
Lay leaf on egg then cover with stocking, twist ends together secure with rubber band.
For each dye bath mix 1/2 c warm H2O, 1 Teaspoon Vinegar, and 10-29 drops food coloring. Submerge the nylon wrapped egg ( directions say carefully but with my kids NOTHING is done carefully so just lay out newspaper!) Let soak 4 minutes. Use a spoon to remove egg form "bath" and set on covered surface. Remove rubber band and nylon , then leaf and let dry completely--- WAY WAY COOL!!!
** we only had 3 colors blue, red and yellow but the kids wanted to make other colors so after we dipped in primary color they choose another one to create orange, purple, and green.... thought they new something no one else did....... lol I loved it though they were so cute :)
Daddy and Grammie did get to join in at the end of the festivities today- Grammie assisted in the clean up and of taking two girls for the night- and Daddy of course had to put his spin on the Easter egg dying- he did a spider-man egg ( wayyyy not he "nature" theme I was looking for but hey it DID look pretty awesome! :) ) and excuse the pic of Cash and Jaxson with their fishie soap-- as usual Mr. Jaxson is in his home attire- NO pants!! SOooooo I am EXHAUSTED and we are going to McAlisters to eat tonight! lol Love ya !! Have a great night ! :)
