Praise God!

Thank you all for your wonderful prayers!

It has all been worked out so that I will get my maternity leave after all! I am so happy that it has all fallen into place. On top of that I also found out today that with our insurance here where I work it covers baby wellness visits 100% so that's a little icing on the cake. :-)
(Doesn't this cake look yummy?)

Thanks again!!!!

My Favorite Band...

The other night I was riding around with my most favorite brother (ok, my only brother) Dustin. I was looking through all of his CDs and discovered a few of mine he had "borrowed" a few years ago that I had totally forgot about. One of them just happened to be my favorite band in the whole wide world 'David Crowder Band'. I decided I would steal it back and have pretty much listened to it non stop since! I had forgotten how much I loved them. So in honor of my CD returning home to me, I am declaring April 'A Month with David Crowder'. I have added a few of my favorite songs to my blog song list. They are a praise & worship band from Texas. I've also uploaded a video of them singing "No One Like You." I know he's a little crazy looking but who isn't, right?

A little DCB history:

Singer/guitarist David Crowder first stepped into the music industry when he realized that over half of the students at Baylor University, a Christian school that he attended in Waco, TX, were not going to church. He began to actively recruit students for worship services and started writing songs to draw more young people in. He eventually started releasing the songs, leading to his debut album, 2002's Can You Hear Us? The album was released under the name the David CrowderBand, as Crowder was joined by Jack Parker, Jason Solley, Jeremy Bush, Mike Dodson, Mike Hogan. They have since released 8 albums and won several awards for there music.

Despite there success, David Crowder Band makes it a point to get back to University Baptist Church on most Sundays.

Hope you enjoy!

An answered prayer and a prayer request....

*
Answered Prayer:
Well, if you read my blog a few weeks ago "Philippians 4:6" I talked about how God answers even the "little" requests that we might have. Yesterday was one of those times for me. I had my 34 week appointment with a doctor who I had heard horrible things about from many of my friends and family, and even some girls in our childbirth class. I was freaking out! Feeling a little convicted for having posted the previous blog about praying for the seemingly small things, I decided to ask God to help our appointment go good.
Not only did it go good, it went GREAT!

To start the visit off, the nurse told us the doctor was running late with appointments and so I was like "great he’s going to be in a horrible mood." At this point I was sweating like crazy... I was a nervous wreck! When he FINALLY came in, he made a joke about me probably already being at my due date due to the fact he was running so late and went about checking everything like normal. He sat with us for a long time answering questions and stuff and didn’t act like he was in a hurry at all. It makes me so mad when the doctor tries to rush you and not act interested so I really appreciated that. I guess they had also written Alli’s name in my file cause he was like “Alli huh? I like that. It’s a sweet name.” Which again, took be by surprise. Jeff thought he acted a little umm....not straight, haha, but he also thought it was nice of him to not rush us even though it was 5:15 by the time we got out.
So in wrapping this up, THANK YOU LORD for answering the "little" prayers. What an amazing God we serve!

Prayer Request:

Back in February my bosses asked me if I knew what my plans were for after the baby came. If I would be coming back to work full time, coming back part time, or be staying at home, etc. They asked that I let them know by the end of the month that way they could start planning for coverage. Jeff & I had been discussing the possibility of being able to stay home with baby Alli for a while, but weren't completely sure yet. Well, the end of the month rolled around and we decided to take a chance and I was going to stay home. At this point, one of my bosses had asked our HR lady here at the bank if I would get my maternity leave even if I didn't come back. She said I would get it no matter what. That being said, made my decision a little easier because I would still be getting paid throughout May & June. So I discussed this with both of my bosses and let them know I would not be returning. Well, this past Friday I found out from our HR lady that since I am not returning, I will not get my maternity leave. As you can imagine, I was VERY upset. So, I am asking that you please say a prayer that God would work this whole thing out for His glory.

Thanks to all of you for being so great!!!

Childbirth Class

This past Saturday Jeff & I attended a childbirth preparation class. We are planning on mom & Jamie being in the delivery room with us so mom came as well to just refresh herself (Jamie is going to be taping in the delivery room so since it was a "childbirth" class not a "how to use a camcorder" class, she didn't come) We had a blast. Here is a picture of Jeff practicing rubbing my "back" to help relieve pressure during labor. I think I was the one who was supposed to be enjoying the rub down, but as you can tell I think he was enjoying it more.....

I know this sounds crazy (especially to all the moms our there) but I am really looking forward to experiencing labor. This class really got me hyped about relaxation exercises and stuff like that. She taught knowledge over pain. Every night since, Jeff has wanted to practice breathing and massages. He is going to be great to have in the delivery room. :-) She taught us so much about what is actually happening inside my body during birth. I was absolutely fascinated!

32 weeks

I thought it would be fun to take a picture of me in the same shirt I wore before I was pregnant. As you can tell I've grown a little.....haha.
Maybe I'll try it on again at 40 weeks!
Only 8 weeks to go! I am so excited! We had our 32 week appointment yesterday and everything went great. She measured my uterus and checked the baby's heartbeat which she said was very steady. She also said that baby Alli is head down already which is great. The doctor said she shouldn't move from that position at this stage in pregnancy. YEA! I was a little worried. That is why Jamie had to have a C-section because of Laney not being in the position she should have been (imagine that. Laney being stubborn? haha) I did have a big weight jump since my last appointment which was very discouraging. :-( 8 pounds in 4 weeks....is that so horrible?? haha. I think it's because last time the doctor told me I was doing AWESOME with my weight gain and that I should teach a class on how keep your weight down in pregnancy. I'm pretty sure I let myself go after hearing that. I'm still a little under what is expected for this point in pregnancy so she said she wouldn't get on to me too much. :-) We are now starting our 2 week appointments which I am hoping will help the time pass a little faster. I can't wait to hold our little girl.

Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

I absolutely love this verse! Our pastor spoke on it a couple of weeks ago, which prompted me to post this blog.

What I love about this verse is the part the says "in everything....present your requests before God." I heard a story once of a man who refused to pray about the "smaller" things in life and would save his prayers for the greater requests he might have, saying he didn't want to waste his prayers on senseless requests, as if God were a genie and the man was only allowed 3 wishes. What's so great about our God is that He tells us to bring everything to Him, whether it be a "please help this light to turn green so I'm not late for work again" or a " please heal the cancer that's in my body." God wants everything brought before Him so that He can bless us in every way, big or small. What a loving God! So I encourage you (and myself) today to take everything to God, by prayer and with thanksgiving.

Praise the Lord we don't serve a genie!!!
