Happy is not so happy

Sad news today. We found out the family dog (my parents' dog- our dog, Yoda, is fine) has malignant cancer. :( Poor Happy. He is such a sweet little guy. The kids are pretty worried about it. It just won't be the same to visit without Happy there to greet us.

Macaroni

The kids LOVE this book Grandmother Jardine sent us awhile back, Yankee Doodle, by Mary Ann Hoberman and Nadine Bernard Westcott. Luke dances his heart out everytime we read it. We tried to capture a little of it on video. "...And called it Macaroni!"

A Princess Crown

Cass was so excited about this braided doo, yesterday- she said it looked like a crown and she got to wear it all day without it falling off! :) It made for a cute crimped look today.

Eating Solids

I don't think I have posted any pics of Jake eating solids, yet. So here he is, in all his glory, wearing the carrots instead of putting them in his mouth. This reminded me of the story my parents used to tell us about my sister, Hailey, how she would wear her asparagus as a hat. :) The kids thought that was one of the funniest things they'd ever heard.

Accountability

I need exercise and healthy eating accountability. I was doing really great until we got our 2 rounds of the flu and started indulging in Easter candy upon recovery. Tomorrow I begin the fitness regimen again. Who's with me?!!

A Fantastic Day

Since it's pretty much the last day of our Spring Break, we tried to pack in as much as possible. We enjoyed a morning at home, cleaning and doing yard work. The kids love helping Warren outside. Luke's favorite thing right now is looking for "roeee poiees" (rolly pollys - or potato bugs as some call them). Then we packed everyone up to go try out the Natatorium (the local indoor swimming pool). It was Jake's first swimming adventure and he did really well. Especially with all the noise and abundance of people. I think it would have been even more fun if everyone in town hadn't had the same idea we did.
After that we went home, got cleaned up, ran some errands and then the kids got to go play with some friends while Warren, Jake and I went on a date! We went out to eat at Chipotle- love it. Then we enjoyed some shopping and made it home with some Easter candy in tow (I think Easter candy is my favorite candy of all the holidays). Then as a real treat we stayed up to watch "Bolt" that we rented from our nearby redbox. We only made it through half of the movie because it was getting so late- but it's been a hit with our kids. What a fab day. Only 2 1/2 months till Summer vacation, right?! And counting....

Bike ride to the ponds

Next it's Cade's turn to take off the training wheels!

We love living near the ponds. We tried to go fishing earlier in the week. No luck. We saw some people catching some today, though- so we have some hope to try again. Maybe tomorrow.

A Major Milestone

It's been a long time coming, but we finally taught Cass how to ride her bike without training wheels! YEAH!!! Good job Cass! We're so proud of you! I had tears I was so proud.
Another achievement- I got video to load on the blog with no problems!!! YEAH!!

No more training wheels for Cass

Cassidy learning to ride without training wheels

Precious gems

Fingerprint drawings

I loved Ed Emberley's drawing books when I was a kid. We saw this book at a friend's house awhile back (thanks Gretchen) and finally remembered to get it when we were at the library this week. It's drawings you make with your finger prints. The kids have been stamp/finger print crazed this week.

Tuckered Out

Think we're wearing out our kids?

Another fun park

Blood oranges

Tasty

More park fun

Cade at the park

Luke loving the park

We've done a park tour this week. Going to different favorite local parks with the kids.

We love our library

We have really been enjoying our Spring Break. Warren took the week off to play with us. We normally would plan a big trip- but with the economy being so wacky- we thought we'd enjoy the things around our home town and have some relaxing down time instead. Even Jake enjoyed the books this time! :)

Running over Daddy

One of the most favorite games at our house is "Running over Daddy". Sometimes they take him out (tackle football style), and other times they like to jump over him. Here is some of the jumping action.
