Our Loot and Pumpkin Carving

The kids harvested 4 gallons of candy at the Trunk or Treat last night. More than they will eat in a couple years. Unfortunately they don't think so. After the sort, we stuck it up in the cupboard where hopefully it will disappear in a couple days.
They all had fun helping us scoop the guts and seeds out of their pumpkins tonight. Happy Halloween!!!

Alice in Wonderland Theme

How do we compare to the real thing???

Cassidy as Alice

Cade as the Mad Hatter

Luke the Cheshire Cat

Jake- the White Rabbit
The kids wanted to go as the new "Alice in Wonderland" cast this year for Halloween. I was nervous they would be scared when they watched it, but they got really excited about it an immediately knew that was what they wanted to do for Halloween this year. Cassidy was Alice, Cade the Mad Hatter, Luke the Cheshire Cat, and Jake the White Rabbit.

11 kids!

We had a busy, fun night last night. My friend, with 7 children of her own, takes my kiddos all the time. She helped me out a ton during our move. I've been trying to figure out something I could do to repay her kindness. So we had all the kids over last night while she and her husband went on a date. My kids had a blast! They played games, dress ups, star wars reinacting, ate pancakes for dinner and popcorn during the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown Halloween Show. I need to do this more often. Especially since I have Cassidy who is an amazing helper! I don't know how I would do it without her! We are so lucky to have such great friends!

Preschool Halloween Party

It was so fun to go see Luke at his preschool Halloween party. Warren was home for 2 hours, between flights and road trips, and just happened to be home at just the right time. I was really glad he could go with us and surprise Luke. Jake loved being a the school. He cries everytime we drop Luke off.
The party started with a costume parade, followed by a craft, games, a great singing performance by the kids and then a story and doughnut treat to finish it off. I LOVED seeing Luke interact with his teachers and friends. He is so enthusiastic. It was so funny to see! He was great during the singing part- he actually sang!! His favorite part was when they yelled, "BOO!" really loud at the end of their song to scare the parents. :) He's growing up so fast. He is so much fun right now.

Trunk or Treat

Jakey wasn't too sure what to think about Halloween at first. Everything seemed a bit overwheming. But once he saw that trick or treating involved candy, he was all over it! :)

Halloween on a Sunday puts a little damper on our Trick or Treating traditions, going door to door around the neighborhood. But we were really happy to still have the Trunk or Treat over at our church. We combined with another ward and there were zillions of kids running around. Everyone got a full basket of candy and filled their bellies with complimentary doughnuts. When we got home I tried to stuff them full of quesadillas and homemade guacamole to combat all the sugar. There were still stomach aches when they went to bed, but they had a really great night. Tomorrow we're planning on handing out candy to our neighbors. The kids have been really great to not complain about staying in because of it being a Sunday.

Playgroup Halloween Party

Luke and all his best buds. He had to be a fireman at the last minute because he knew that was what Trey was going to be. He and Trey are like 2 peas in a pod.
Freeze Dancing

Costume parade

Our little giraffe

Costume parade turned into more of a costume race! Poor Jake was left behind. Our little friend, Ellie, was really sweet to take him by the hand and walk him up and down the gym during and long after the parade. :)
Even pez candy wouldn't stay off the crying when Jake put this giraffe costume on. He cried for 30 minutes, "Take giraffe OFF!" By the time we went to the store and then got to his party he was calmed down and ready to go.

4th grade performance

All the 4th grade classes got together at our school to do a big performance. Cass has been looking forward to this for weeks. She was so cute doing her little singing and dancing.

My White Rabbit

Jakey is not a costume fan. I had to bust out the candy just to get him to TRY ON the rabbit suit. He now thinks the second he puts on his suit he gets a fresh supply of pez candy to chow on. More halloween costume pics to come...

Friend Halloween Party

We were halloween party going professionals this year. Here is our first debut, on our way to our friend's halloween bash! The kids had a great time bobbing for apples, decorating cupcakes, eating cookies and playing games and other things with friends.

Temple Visit

After a great talk from our Stake President, I thought we could work on making our Sabbath Day a little more reverent. So, this past Sunday we decided to take a trip to go see the temple. I forgot the lot is locked on Sundays, so we just stood outside the gate and took pictures for awhile. Warren and I try to go to the temple atleast every month, but it dawned on me, it had been a really long time since the kids had been. I hope if we make trips more often they will remember the peaceful feeling they have just by being on these beautiful grounds.

After our temple visit, we spent the rest of our afternoon playing a family game of Monopoly. It is so fun that Cass and Cade are old enough to play something other than Candyland!! :) Cade barely beat Cass, and Warren and I were slaughtered.

Picture Day

Here were Cass and Cade's outfit choices for picture day. Cade was so darling that he wanted to wear his suit!! He told me he wanted to look like a missionary and like daddy. His teacher said when he walked into class all the kids said he looked like the mayor. :)

Box Forts

The boys wanted a box fort- unfortunately the majority of the boxes have already been broken down the garage. With a few of the remaining empty ones, we came up with this fort. They had a blast and were so excited to show the big kids when they got home from school.

One room completely unpacked

Every room is partially unpacked, except for the game/playroom. HOORAY! Something is completely done! This room has already seen a lot of action. And not just because of all the basketball, air hockey, toy playing that has been going on. A couple nights after we were in the house, and after a really greasy lunch of Sonic (My mom and dad came with me and the boys to eat lunch with Cade and Cass at school), Jake was having a really hard time at bedtime. He kept coming out, wanting to be with me. I thought it was being in the new house or just your average toddler sleep issues. Well come 1am when I heard screaming and crying coming from upstairs, I knew something was up. Sure enough, Jake was covered in vomit, and so was the floor, from the foot of his mattress (thankfully not on his mattress or his brothers sleeping in the bed!) all the way through the game room to the top of the stairs. I don't know how one little body can be so full of strawberry fruit slush, but it was bright red the entire way. I know it's unreasonable to ask a 2 year old to run to the bathroom when they're sick, but do they have to walk around while they are throwing up? Now, this was bad, but what was worse was I couldn't find the carpet cleaner anywhere. Half of the cleaning supplies had been over at the old house. I couldn't think very clearly at that time in the night and had no idea where to start. So what to do? Spray it with shout, cover it with blankets and tackle it in the morning.
What a blessing the next day when I realized I still had the steam carpet cleaner I'd borrowed from a friend to clean the old house. So, while I'm steaming the carpets upstairs, I hear Luke shouting from below, "Mom!! Mom!!! Jake and Yoda are eating brown sugar!!" With the kitchen in disarray I had no idea how he could have found that so fast, but I ran downstairs to find him covered head to toe, as well as the floor and the previously white dog- not in brown sugar- but a Costco sized vat of cinnamon. What a mess! Atleast it made the house smell good.
Just minutes later, after finishing the carpets and cleaning up Jake, the dog and the floor from the cinnamon, I'm in my room for no more than 3 minutes. (I had to order some racks for my oven. For some reason the homeowners previous decided to take them? Foreclosures are full of surprises I've come to find.) When the door bell rings. So I run to it to find the door wide open with Jake and Yoda standing there with my new next door neighbor (who surely is going to report me to CPS one of these days). He said he had found Jake and Yoda roaming about outside and wanted to bring them back to me. I about died!! I had the dead bolt locked. So Jake had already figured out how to escape, with his best partner in crime, the family dog. Okay, so this is bad, now picture it with Jake completely naked with nothing on but a diaper, still not bathed from the throwing up experience the night before. I just hope the cinnamon covered up the vomit smell. SO EMBARRASSING! I'm truly grateful for my neighbor, but I'm sure he thinks I'm insane and have no control over my children. Luckily, my mom and dad were at Home Depot (yet again) while all this was happening. So I called them immediately to have my dad pick up a hotel type door lock for the top of front door. Thank goodness Pops was in town and installed it immediately. We are just full of excitement around here!

Decorating for Halloween

With all the boxes, decorated for Halloween was the last thing on my mind. But the kids had other plans. So we busted out the decs last night. Our new neighbors, moved in a couple days before us, gave us this spider web. I've been informed by my children that we now need to go buy a large spider to sit on top of it. Such a simple thing as a scarecrow and a web brings them such a delight!
