Luke's First Homework Assignment

Four year olds are so fun. I love this stage Luke is in. Everything is so exciting. Especially when you are getting big. He had his first homework assignment from preschool. He was supposed to trace and cut out his body. He was ecstatic!

All Set

I love it how excited Luke is to start soccer. His enthusiasm is contagious! His first practice is scheduled for tonight. I'm not sure if it will happen or not with tornadoes in the forecast. But regardless, he is dressed for the occasion. He wants to wear the full get up wherever he is. He wore his jersey to preschool today and was so pumped when he got home to find out I had the rest of the ensemble bought/handed down ready for him.

mammas

It is so fun to have other friends to commiserate with at this time in pregnancy! We are all nearing the end together. I'm due first and then we follow each other week by week. We had a great time at the park today hanging out on this bench while our other little ones ran around and entertained themselves.

Soccer Fanatics

These boys are a little obsessed.
Luke got his soccer jersey today for his team. This will be his first season playing. Jake likes to wear Cade's old jersey any time he gets a chance. They both begged to wear them to bed tonight. So here they are, in their jammies, topped off with soccer jerseys. I was at Book Club when they actually went down, but the baby sitter said Luke was pretty upset when he had to take off Cassidy's cleats to get into bed. Oh, boy.

Kitchen Tile Accident

Poor Cass was monkeying around in the kitchen today (Warren and I are still not quite sure what happened), and some how ended up doing a face plant on the tile floor. At first, I thought she had knocked out her teeth and broken her nose. There was blood all over in her mouth, she looked awful. Warren thought something more serious had happened, since she was breathing weird and acting really strange. But we were lucky. No stitches. We don't think the nose is broken. She'll be really sore for awhile, but it looks like the worst of it is a really bad fat lip. She rested on the couch with an ice pack and dose of ibuprophen for the rest of the afternoon/evening. Although it was scary and painful, we couldn't have been more blessed with the circumstances. Warren was home for an hour and a half- inbetween flying everywhere- and we had just had an early dinner (I mean 3:30pm early- a first for us). I knew the afternoon was going to be spent with piano lessons, soccer practice, and Warren flying. There wouldn't be time to eat until almost 8pm. I think the neighbor girl was really confused when she stopped by about 3:45pm, but it worked for us tonight. I'm glad Warren was still home when it happened. I was really lucky that my piano student scheduled for that time didn't show up. Very interesting the way things work out sometimes.

getting larger by the day

I can't imagine getting any bigger, yet there are still a few weeks left to go. Warren's already calling this poor girl "Bertha." Hopefully she won't stay in too long and end up being a 9 pounder or something crazy. As far as names go, it looks like Hallie Julia Hess or Julia Hallie Hess are at the forefront. We'll see what she looks like when she comes out.

Cougar Game!!

Today was the BYU vs TCU basketball game. So, we loaded up the kids and made the trek over to Fort Worth to watch the match. The Cougs played great. It's always good when you pay for the whole family to go and your team wins! Luke was in a pretty grumpy mood- as you can see from his face in this picture. But he eventually cheered up with a little bribery in the form of candy and popcorn. It was fun to see Jimmer in action. What a super way to spend a Saturday! I'm glad Warren lets us all tag along.

A Criminal in the Family

So, I got this postcard in the mail today. Apparently, Warren forgot to pay a traffic ticket he received months ago on the road, and now a warrant has been issued for his arrest. So I called him at work and gave him the phone number to get it cleared up. A few hours later, this is what he texts me:
(Imagine there is a picture posted here of a police motorcycle) "This cop ran my plates while I was on the phone, he's taking me in."
I respond with, "You are kidding me."
He then says, "Need you to post my bail, I'm in the Denton County Prison. 805 North Lake Rd, Denton."
Me, "You better be kidding. I gave you that # hours ago."
He says, "I paid the fine but my record hadn't cleared yet, no more texts I'm in the back of a black and white."
I am used to Warren being a super trickster, so I wasn't going to fall for it. But I waited quite a while for the "Just kidding" text and didn't receive it. He wouldn't pull this kind of joke on his nearly 9 month pregnant wife, would he?! The motorcycle picture and the cop car comment didn't seem to add up. And I doubted he'd be in a prison- he surely would be taken to a jail. But, after awhile of waiting, I then proceeded to get out of my comfortable bed. I was resting during Jake's nap. I went to my computer (and about to cancel my plans of going to the park with the kids after school, and wake up Jake to get loaded in the car) getting to mapquest to find out where this precinct is, I figured it was at least an hour away.
Just then, another text comes in from Warren, "Jk, I should be home in about 30 mins."
My response, "You are in huge trouble Mr."
Warren, "Good, I love trouble"
What a tease!! I can't believe I fell for it!!

"Dad's Life"

This is a Warren favorite.

perfect weather

As I walked Warren and the kids out the door this morning, I couldn't help but stand on the porch and breath deep for a few minutes. The air is perfect! 64 degrees, humid, with a slight breeze. I LOVE IT! I wish I was in some kind of running condition, because today would be perfect. I guess a trip to the park with the kids will have to do.

Family Valentine's Day Party

For Valentine's Day I thought it would be fun to do something special for dinner. Since I teach until 6pm Monday nights and Warren had to head out the door to help a friend move shortly after that, I knew I wouldn't have time to cook. So I settled on salad, pizza and rootbeer floats. It was a hit!! I made conversation heart cards for everybody as their place cards and we used the beautiful flowers Warren brought home as our centerpieces. He is so sweet to remember how much I love flowers and then he got the pink carnations for Cassidy. What a cute daddy! It was just a few minutes with us all together, but I'm so grateful for family dinner time.

Luke's Contest

Luke informed me this morning he and Jake were "going to a contest." I asked where it was and what kind of contest it was. All I could get out of him is that it would take place on the couch and there may be costumes involved. He continued to urge Jake to keep his hat and tie on all morning, telling him he had to wear those or he couldn't be in the contest. Jake had finally had enough and in his funny 2 year old way of speaking (it still amazes me he speaks in complete sentences at his age), he says, "Luke. I need to take a break!" I was rolling. So I got the boys a snack and they were back at it. Luke had found a way to entice Jake back into the contest by showing him they were going to disassemble the couch and hop from section to section (pretending the floor was lava). This then became the contest. It kept them busy for hours. I got some great cleaning done and even had a shower without an interruption (without having the TV on)!!

Bike Ride to the Park

After being snowed and iced in for weeks, this spring weather in the 50's and 60's just can't keep us in the house. Jake insisted on having a bike helmet. Luckily, the plastic part fell off the top of Cade's helmet and Jake was happy with that. When the wind kept blowing it off, he decided it would be fine if he just stowed it in the back of his bike instead.
Cade has been doing a great job re-learning his 2 wheeler. It's the best I've seen him without training wheels! YAY!!

Everyone wants to sit with Daddy

Wrapping up Basketball Season

Baseball FHE

For FHE this week, Luke chose baseball as our family activity. So we all headed to the backyard (and me with my folding chair) to practice our skills. Jake soon got bored and started playing soccer instead. We had a good time. I love these 60 degree temperatures!
