Consecutive sleep

I got 7 hours of CONSECUTIVE sleep last night! It was amazing! I don't know if Hallie actually slept through or if I was just too tired to hear her. But it's been atleast 6 weeks if not more since I've had this luxury. I'm not sure when I'll have it again, but I'll take whatever I can get!

The dark side

One of our family's favorite memories of our Disney trip is when Cassidy fought (or ran away and cried) Darth Maul and the Jedi Academy. So we find this little YouTube blip hilarious. Can't wait to go back to Disney again and have the boys have the chance to show their jedi skills.

a big THANK YOU!

I have had so much fun dressing Hallie up in all the cute gifts everyone has given us! Thank you all!!

Bird Nests

Our FHE treat was like rice crispy treats but with pretzels. Add some chocolate eggs and...Oila! Birds' nests.

Planting our garden

So far Warren has built 2 garden beds filled with starts and seeds. For FHE this week we talked about gardening. Gardening is a strong tradition on both sides of Warren and I's families. We also taught the kids that the prophet wants us to plant a garden so we are trying to follow the prophet.

A shower and 2 baths later

Is what it took to finally get these kids clean after playing in the mud in the backyard! My poor tub needs a good scrub now.

Mud Baths

I could charge for spa treatments! Any one want to come for a mud bath? We are in the process of planting some fruit trees in the backyard. So far we have one planted and 3 to go. The holes were started and then we had a huge rain storm. So they are now completely filled with water. I didn't realize when the the kids all requested to wear their swimsuits outside they were embarking on home spa treatments, but here they are. They should have the best skin in town.

Family of 7

Photo shoot

We attempted family photos today. Things got a little wild. Poor Jake ended up with a black eye from the camera when I accidentally bumped into him. There were so many silly faces when we were trying to do smiling poses, we ended up doing a whole set of silly faces. Luke wouldn't pose unless I took pictures of he and Cade playing basketball afterwards. Before the black eye, Jake had a great time playing with my make-shift tripod (a toy Barney computers and some children's books).

None of the family pictures were perfect, but it's fun to have some pics with our whole family together.

Helping in their own ways

One of my favorite things about this new baby experience has been to see how my other kids step in to help with Hallie. Cassidy is great to swoop in after school and scoop up Hallie as fast as she can get her hands washed. She totes her around the house, singing and bouncing and cuddling to her heart's content. Cade plays in a more subtle way. Quietly, but effectively, showing her all her different toys and what they do. He hangs out with Hal when things are a little more mild and less hectic. He does great keeping her busy while I'm giving the other boys a bath, etc. Luke is Hallie's greatest wardrobe consultant. he cracks me up! He's always concerned that she has a bow on her head, has socks on, and is wearing the cutest outfit. He makes sure I wipe her mouth or eye or anything that could be oozing something yucky. He loves her to always be looking her best. And then Jake is her great admirer. He loves to just sit next to me when I'm feeding her and rub her hair or her feet. He is her protector (except from himself when he's dropping soccer balls on her, etc. I try to keep these encounters as minimal as possible!). He loves his "beautiful baby princess." Being a mother of 5, is quite the challenge, but so rewarding. I love these guys!

Fashionista

I love dressing this girl up!!

Look away! I'm hideous!

What first appeared to be a plugged tear duct, is now looking like a yellow, nasty, draining eye infection. Poor Hallie. Here she is, hiding her eye in her dress.

Teach Me How to Jimmer

We have been so proud of our Cougs this year. So fun to see Jimmer be so successful and earn Player of the Year. Click here for the BYU Alumni article about it.

Luke's half birthday at preschool

Since Lukey has his birthday in July, his preschool had him celebrate his "half birthday" this week. He got to wear a crown, present a poster of pictures of himself, and bring some oatmeal fudgie treats to share with his class. He was so excited!!

a few fav's

Mimi to the rescue!!

Chocolate covered strawberries- a General Conference treat!

To keep the kids listening during conference, we had a list of words they had to listen for. For every tally they could get either a piece of candy or a penny. I don't think Cass or Cade missed a bit. They were attentive every session!

My mom came to save me once again. She was here for a whole week and it was marvelous! I'm already missing the extra pair of hands. I could really go for a nap today. My boys have not been very good nappers of late. It would be lovely if they would sync with Hallie so I could actually get a moments peace around here. But, it doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime in the near future. Mimi was awesome to help the kids with their chores, let me take naps, do lots of cleaning, yardwork, new mother emotional counseling, played with the kids, and much much more. Love you, Mom!
