We had quite the experience today. In the night I could hear some rabbits being born in our backyard. Sure enough this morning the kids ran outside to see a nest of new baby bunnies. The kids were ecstatic. They dreamed about all the wonderful fun they would have with their new friends. After school the kids came running in to the yard to check on their new pets. To all of our horror, the bunnies were covered in fire ants, partially eaten. It was so gross. I would guess they were eaten alive. The kids all cried for half an hour. It was so sad to see their little hearts break, but so sweet to see them hug and comfort each other. I had to cancel my first piano lesson and be a nurturing mom for a bit. So what do you do to get rid of the bunny blues? Eat ice cream, and play a game of hide and go seek, of course!

Today at preschool we learned about how when you work you earn money. We started out as construction workers and hammered golf tees into a cardboard box. Next the kids took turn being a fireman saving each other from the burning house. Then we did lawn mowers- yard maintenance, cleaning service, veterinarians, teachers and a restaurant. After each job I paid the kids in fake Monopoly money and the put it in their wallets. Next we had a lunch break. To finish off we used some of our money to buy a train ticket to take a ride on the furniture train (which quickly morphed into a pirate ship). It was a good day. We should all take good naps this afternoon ;).
