Gingerbread house?

Happy holidays all! I am procrastinating from my holiday duties to write this short post. I was telling my Mother in Law about our "gingerbread house" and figured pictures was the best way to describe it. It all started on a rainy sat morning with nothing to do when Cam asked if we could make a gingerbread house. I looked online and saw how you could make one out of graham crackers and frosting. I made the frosting from the recipe and found just enough graham crackers to get the job done. We sat down to start building and the frosting was setting in the bowl like well made mortar and Cam was eating away at all the graham crackers I had, so low and behold, this is what you get when you scrap around the kitchen for supplies. This house is crafted out of 1/2 graham crackers, 1/2 multi grain club crackers and all the leftover Halloween candy we could manage (yeah, those are Nerds for the Christmas lights!). Cam was very proud of the outcome! In the two weeks we have had it, it's taken quite a beating (or rather licking) from the cats, but it's still holding strong. I may just put it way for next year!

The Big Storm!

We have two feet and counting! I'm so glad I have groceries for two weeks, we might need them. Other than that, we should be just fine as long as the power stays on!

Wow, School is already paying off!

C blew us away at dinner with this when we asked him what he learned today at school. I don't even think I memorized this by the 1st or 2nd grade! I promise I'm not bragging, but needed to post this for proud Grandma's and Grandpa's to see.

First Day of School

It's that time of year again! C happily went off to school today. He's attending the same school he did here last year, so everything was familiar and exciting this morning. He didn't even look back when I said goodbye, I suppose he had better things to do.
So many of the other mothers were so emotional and sad, is there something wrong with me? I was beyond excited for him to go. Knowing how much he loves to be around other kids and how much I love to have free time, it's just a win win situation for us. It is a little different this year, since he is going Mon-Fri, so I will miss our mornings together. Hopefully I will use this free time to do something productive...we'll see.

Gotta love school programs!

Here is C's end of year school program. There is something to be said about wrangling up a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds and trying to get them to do something in unison. I am a proud parent to say my child is "that child" you know the one who lifts his shirt to show his belly and picks his nose for the whole crowd to see. C may look like his dad, but he acts just like his mom did at that age!
C has one more year of preschool and then it's off to the big world of Kindergarten. I can't even think that far ahead! He's already growing at a pace I am not comfortable with!

On the home front, things have been busy but really good. My parents where here this last week and more house guests are coming in tomorrow, so we have been blessed with a lot of company. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. Anyone want to come to VA and visit??
Our new yard has been our biggest adjustment. It seems like the people at Lowes and Sears know us by name now with all our questions, there are no stupid questions right??

We have also had our first issue with a neighbor who thinks our yard is a fine place to take his huge dog for a #2. Our next door neighbor has told us this was an issue with the previous owner until the previous owner took to shoveling up the #2 and dumping it on the bad neighbors front porch. R took the diplomatic approach and went to talk to the guy about the problem first but has his shovel ready if it happens again!

As for myself, my latest obsession is Ticks, no I'm not collecting trinkets of them or stitching them on my pillows, I am apparently collecting them in my hair!!!!!! Ticks are so bad here! Where I grew up in Oregon, they hardly exist, so I am not at all used to them!!!! We have to do "tick check" every time we come in from outside. When I unfortunately found one, I was in the shower with my hair all lathered up. Let's just say R heard the screaming and came in to help me out!!! GROSS! On the more serious side a little schoolmate of C's recently got Lime disease. Does anyone know much about this?? Any tips or ideas on how to deal with Ticks. Come on now I know a lot of my military friends are southerners, so you much have some insight!

A belated Mother's Day to all! Have a great rest of your week!
