Sean @ The Eye Doctor

We just found out our precious Seany is far sighted and needs glasses.  Above is a picture of what I have ordered for him to wear.  More pictures to come when they actually come in.  I hope he does well with them.

Miles Sheldon Groll

Miles Sheldon Groll
Born November 8, 2011
5:25am
7lbs 4 oz, 20 inches

Miles finally made it!  I was getting pretty anxious even though my due date was 11/11/11, I just kept having a feeling he was coming early - and each day felt longer and longer.  Miles' labor was much different that Sean's and it really threw me for a loop.  I felt like I was starting labor as early as the 3rd but by the end of the day I could tell nothing was going to happen.  I spent the whole weekend home hoping I would have my baby and when I didn't I was really sad.  I decided sitting at home waiting wasn't a good idea anymore so I arranged to go to dinner with the Wrights' on Monday night.  Sarah made a delicious dinner as always and we sat around and joked about ways to get the baby here.  Sarah "dared" me to try castor oil and at that point I felt nothing was happening regardless, but I never said no to a dare.  We sat around and chugged it, and chased it down and laughed.  As we left Sarah said "OK text me at 2am when your water breaks".  As always Sarah's prediction wasn't far off.  We went home and got in bed and started watching a show.  I started contracting almost immediately but shrugged it off as a side effect.  At 11am I got up to turn off all the lights and officially go to bed when my water broke.  We were so excited and nervous, I always thought when your water broke it meant the baby was minutes away.  We dropped Sean off at his Aunt's and went to the hospital.  I was sure wrong about the timing.  After we arrived at the hospital it still took about 5 hours of waiting around.  My mom and Nan were troopers to keep us company - well Nan was, my mom slept the whole time.  By 5:20 I was ready to start pushing, and we had Miles 5 minutes later.  He was 7lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long.  We were so happy to FINALLY have him here with us.  So far we don't think he looks much like his brother - I think from the eyes up he does, but from the nose down he doesn't.  He changes everyday though so we will see.  Sean love Miles' more than I could have imagined and he has already been such a perfect addition to our family.  We can't wait to all grow up together!  Love you Miles!

Los Angeles 2011

Sean went on his 2nd airplane ride to Los Angeles.  He got an A- for the flight over, it was really cramped and he didn't have his own seat, but he was pretty good considering.  He loved the airport and the airplane and looking out of the window while we took off and landed.

When we arrived we met my friend Melody and just walked over to the Farmer's Market/Grove for dinner.  Sean was tired from his flight and only a 20 minute nap but we had a good dinner and walked around my old neighborhood.

The next day we went sailing.  We were nervous Sean wouldn't like the boat or have fun but he loved it.  He is a born sailor and didn't get sick on the open ocean.  Every time he saw a big boat he would point and yell pirate.  Mel's boat is at Marina Del Ray and we also enjoyed the planes from LAX flying over us.

Day 3 we went to the Dodger's vs. Padres game.  Sean cooperated through all 9 innings and had a great time.  Can't wait til I watch him play his first major league game. We also stopped by the tar pits for old times sake, Sean loved the elephants sinking into the tar.

The Final Day we went to the L.A. County Art Museum and saw the Tim Burton show, it was neat to see the Edward Scissor Hands costume and Sean would roar at all the scary artwork.  I pretty much grew up at Lacma and Mel had just retired as the president.  There were so many fun exhibits and things for Sean to do. We then headed off to the beach.  Sean was tired but he loved chasing the waves and having the water push him around, until a lady trying not to get wet tripped over him and pushed him face down.  All in all it was still ok..  We went straight from the beach to cold showers and then our flight home.  Sean got his own seat this time and the passengers all commented on how cute and well behaved he is.

He really got an A for the whole trip - and for a 2 year old I think that is a great feat.  He was so interested in everything we did and saw and it was fun to see him do the things I did growing up.
