Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from our little pea pod. 22 weeks old today. So, which costume is cuter? I truly can't decide. Taking votes now for which costume should greet our trick-or-treaters. Pea pod or flower girl?

Hope you're enjoying the Halloween holiday. I love to see what costumes Regis and Kelly are going to come up with. For a few weeks they've been promoting their 3-D Halloween special. So, I obligingly went out to Walgreens to get my 3-D glasses. Picture me this morning drinking my half-caff coffee, eating my breakfast, wearing my 3-D glasses, watching Regis and Kelly; while miss Jenna is playing and giving me the "What are you doing, Mom?" face. Are you really living if you can't laugh at yourself?!

Happy 5 Months Jenna!

Our girl is 5 months old today! What a cute "flower" girl. Here's the serious pose.
Finally got a smile! A big day for a 5 month old. She got to go play with other kids while Mommy was at Bible study. Then she got to go see Daddy's band practice and have lunch with Daddy. Don't worry, she didn't wear this costume all day. Just for the photo op.

She started to learn to roll on to her back from her tummy, after her nap. Then, while I was cooking dinner she did it! I missed it, but came in and watched her for a while and she did it again. So, two times she has rolled from her tummy to her back. We'll see if she keeps it up.
Tonight after dinner, Kevin carved one of our pumpkins. While I helped Jenna watch (she was fascinated) and then started on the seed drying process.
Kevin did a great job! A spooky pirate ship.

Tune in tomorrow for Jenna's other Halloween costume. (Yes, she has two. I found them at a consignment sale and they were so cheap and cute - $5 & $3; half the price of the one I was considering online. Mommy has to spoil her a little too.)

21 weeks

21 weeks and a cute dress with tights from Uncle Matt. I caught this shot an instant before she started squirming around. She's becoming more and more active every day.
We've finally had some cooler weather and it's time for the long sleeves - Yea! She truly is Daddy's girl.

Trooper

Last weekend was Homecoming and Jenna was such a trooper! We expected a lot from her and she really did great. It all started Friday evening with dinner with Grandpa and Grandma and then the carnival.

Saturday morning, we left the house at 8:15 am for the Band breakfast and then the parade at 9:30. Jenna actually slept through the parade.
Then we were off to the A Cappella concert. I was nervous when I realized that the crowd had blocked any hope of exit if she got loud or fussy. But, she did great and actually fell asleep there too.

Then we were off once again to have lunch with my girlfriends. Jenna's friend Mattie was there too, but she had to take a nap and missed the photo op. It was a nice time, but short, and then a rush to make it to the game before half-time.
We made it to the game with 10 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Perfect timing to settle in before the half-time show.
Another great show by the band.
Jenna had fun with Grandma and even took a nap at the game. We left in the 3rd quarter so she could finish her nap at home. Then we were off again at 6:15 for dinner with family. We got home from dinner just in time for bed. What a whirlwind day!

We finished up the weekend with church, lunch, good-bye to Grandpa and Grandma, and then Jenna had her first non-family babysitter while Kevin and I went to the Homecoming Musical at 2pm Sunday.

Great weekend and great job Jenna! What a trooper! I guess a few short naps can equal the normal long one.

Feel Better Grandma

Dad, Mom, Katie, and Matt were supposed to come visit this weekend. Mom got sick and so they were unable to come. Everyone was so disappointed. So, here's Jenna in her Flower costume to cheer us all up! She usually smiles when we do this dance, but of course she got camera shy.

Red-headed Cousins

Last evening we had dinner with my Dad's cousin Jane, her husband Bob; their daughter Sandy, husband Mark, and daughter Sarah; Jane's other grandchildren Michelle and Joe, and Michelle's fiance Cody.

People often ask us how Jenna could have red hair. Well, this is only part of the answer. Look at all these cousins with red hair: Jane, Sandy, Michelle, Sarah. This is only my dad's side; not to mention my mom's side, my sister has red hair, and then there's Kevin's side of red-heads. I was the only non-redheaded female there last night!

Dad, Mom, Katie, and Matt were supposed to come see these long lost cousins too, but Mom got sick. So disappointing! We had a great meal and heard some good stories including how my Dad's mom would go out back and kill a chicken for lunch on Saturdays and how Jane taught Michelle and Joe how to unwrap all the Christmas presents and re-wrap them so no one would know (while the rest of the family was at the movies)!

19 weeks

I just had to take Jenna's picture in her jamies this time. These are Kevin's favorite pajamas on Jenna; they came from Jenna's great-grandparents, Grandpa and Mary Etta. She is so cute and cuddly in them. Unfortunately, as you can see, this set is getting small, so it's probably the last time she'll wear them. I had to capture the moment.
We introduced Jenna to this new toy this week and she went crazy! Legs and arms kicking in every direction with excitement! (Thank you Mrs. Erin!)

Football and Fall

The last game performance of Thriller went really well. There is one more exhibition performance for UIL, so maybe I can get some different shots.

Jenna and I went to a "Pumpkin Patch" today with a Mom's group I've been going to. It was really so sweet to see all the cute kids get their pictures amongst the pumpkins. I love fall and fall decorating we brought a few of these little pumpkins home with us.

Of course, Jenna was the cutest "pumpkin" of all. She was so interested in everything going on that she just wouldn't smile, but these are good pictures anyway.

Look what I did!

My first rollovers. They're no accident!

Jenna rolled over for the first time last night. This evening we got some video footage.

Happy 4 Months!

Jenna turned 4 months old yesterday. We tried to get creative with her picture but she was more interested in the ground or her hands. You should have seen the acrobatics we went through just to try to get her to look up and smiling was pretty much out of the question. Smiling and looking at the camera at the same time - forget about it.
Today was her 4 month appointment. She was a trooper with the shots; didn't cry until the last one and had recovered by the time we left the office. She is tipping the scales at 18lb 5 oz. She is 25 1/4 inches long and her head is 42 cm.
The old standard chair got immediate results. What's the deal?
This is a rattle ring that she loves to play with. The other night she got it "stuck" on her face and then started sucking her thumb through the ring. She stopped sucking her thumb before I could grab the camera. What a funny girl! She makes us laugh all the time.
Jenna and Daddy learned a new trick! Sometimes she holds on tight to Daddy's ears. Almost always Daddy ends up with a head full of slobber.

Game

Another game down, 3 to go. Great pre-game show.

First performance of "Thriller." The camera wasn't fast enough to capture the great moves of the Thriller dance. I'll try again next time.
Captured minutes before she fell asleep on Daddy's shoulder. Earlier in the night the people filming for the score board screen got a great shot of her and then they got her again when she was asleep. What a famous baby! Unfortunately I didn't have the camera ready to try to get a picture of the screen. Maybe next time.

Who's that baby?

This has got to be one of my all time favorite pictures! Friday evening we had our friends Wade, Mollie, and baby Mattie over for dinner. We had a great time! It was great fun to see how different two babies who are only 12 days apart can be. We joked that Mattie would be as big as Jenna in 12 days. :-)
