Good Times

Jenna turned 10 months old yesterday. I love this first shot because you can see her right front tooth poking out. (her right, left if you're looking at her - click on the picture to enlarge it). A milestone for the day is another word: banana pronounced "anana."
But this one is my favorite because of her excited face. We were away for the weekend and when we got home and she noticed her "bup," she became very excited and squealed during the ride.
Ready to Roll!
It was a great big girls/little girls weekend. My friend Jenni hosted the roomate reunion (5 of 6 of us). It was really great to be together.

Sweet girls!
Jenna did her best at keeping up with Mattie.

We didn't get any pictures of us older girls, just the babies. But, to quote my husband, "Why would I want to see a bunch of pictures of old ladies?" Ha, Ha.

I am pleased to report that my Jayhawks are in the Final Four and that I picked all the teams that made it to the Final Four. We have our brackets registered in the ESPN Tourney Challenge and having all the final four has greatly increased my points. I have 1020 points, am in the 99.1 percentile graded against all the other entries, and am ranked 28,957 out of some "3 million or so" to quote my husband. My future picks are: Kansas, Memphis, then Kansas. We'll see.

And Cajun Cones has opened for the season!

Good times.

Fear

Jenna is afraid of toy horses like this. We found this out when her cousin (who loves the horses) was playing with them. I kind of thought it was an isolated event.

Today when I picked her up from her childcare during ladies Bible study, the ladies who took care of her said, "She does not like the zebra." I said, "What does the zebra look like?" Sure enough, the zebra looks like one of these horses except plastic hair instead of real hair. They said that she was crawling backwards away from it and shaking her head. Poor girl.

Interesting. . . I never thought of her being afraid of something so early in life.

1st round results

Well, the first round is over and I only have one team left in the Midwest bracket - Rock Chalk Jayhawks! And only two teams left in the West. My East bracket is perfect and I've only missed one in the South. I'm leading the other Whitelaw men.

Today in band, during prayer requests, Kevin jokingly added at the end that they should pray for his bracket. Then he asked one of the male students to pray. Here's how the prayer ended, "And please help Mr. Whitelaw's bracket, whatever that is."

Phew!

We had a great and busy spring break! And we were blessed to get to see lots of family - both sets of Grandparents, the GFKs and H, and Uncle Matt.

Jenna has some new accomplishments since last post. Words: bu (book - Mar. 13) Uh-a (Uh-oh - Mar 15), bup (bus - Mar. 21). And she got into sitting position by herself for the first time on Mar. 22. She's also finally getting her first tooth (upper right front tooth), although it's not through the gums yet.

Our big accomplishment is that we finally raked the back yard. 25 or so 33 gallon bags of leaves! Thanks for all the help Dad and Mom!
Celebrated little G's 1st B-day
His birthday bus was a big hit with Jenna!
Fun in the dumb waiter!
Fun in the loft!
The perfect day: breakfast at our favorite breakfast place, then pretty snow falling while sledding in the Mountains! Jenna's first time to sled (March 17th). I think she liked it.
All three of us going down the hill together.
Big G got brave enough to sled down the big hill by himself!

Another travel adventure came on our way home. Our flight was supposed to leave at 1:30 pm. Due to mechanical issues, it didn't leave until 9pm. So we got to our first stop at midnight and therefore, missed our connecting flight home. Luckily, my parents were visiting my brother in the city where we arrived at midnight and were going to drive to our house to visit us anyway. So, they bought a car seat and picked us up at midnight. We all spent the night at my brother's. Then instead of flying home, we just rode to our house with my parents.

Jenna was such a trooper! Slept most of the flight. Woke up as we were walking out of the terminal. Then went to sleep at my brother's and slept better than all of us.
Jenna's Easter dress; sitting on her "bup" (bus). She loves riding around the house on her "bup."

Madness

Today, Kansas plays their first game of the Big 12 Tournament - 6pm Central!

This is one of my favorite times of year - March Madness is coming! Get your brackets ready folks!

Rock Chalk Jayhawks! Could this be the year?

Some Stats

We went to the doctor on Friday for Jenna's 9 month check up and to see what's going on with this cold that she's had for 2 weeks as of tomorrow. 2 weeks of wiping a runny nose is a long time and a lot of tissues. Today there were far less tissues. I'm hoping for full recovery within a couple days.
Weight: 24.2 lbs (yes, I have muscles)
Height: 28 inches
Head: 18 inches (although I measured a few nights before and got 17.5)

This is a picture I've been trying to get for a while. So cute when she kisses "the baby" in the mirror! Today she started giving kisses on command (sometimes) to Mama and Dada. She doesn't pucker, just gives you a full open mouth baby kiss on the cheek - so sweet.
Fun with the box!
More fun with the box.
She loves balls. She'll get one in each hand and have a "ball" banging them together. Thursday last week (the 6th) I thought she said, "ba" meaning ball. Now I'm pretty sure that's what she meant. She has one book that has a picture of a ball and today she would point to it if you asked her where is the ball. Tomorrow may be a different story. Are all these things (kisses and pointing out the ball) just a fluke? Time will tell.

She is continuing her love of books and can sit for quite a while reading one after another. If you get the page ready to be turned, she will turn it when you pause in the reading.

She continues to sleep well at night with a few exceptions (like me), but doesn't seem to have much use for naps during the day (like her Dad). She only sleeps about an hour and a half all day; 2 - 45 minute naps or 1 - hour and a half nap. This combined with her increased mobility make it rather challenging to get things done around here. Right now everything is quite messed up with the sleeping schedule - Thank you Daylight Savings Time!

9 months

Since there is no 30th of February, Jenna is 9 months today.
She wants those blocks so bad!

She started out with this ring by putting it around her neck and then it slipped down around her waist.

This is how I found her after her nap this morning. So proud to have gotten on her tummy!

I'm a little behind on posting her milestones. Feb. 12th was her first wave "Bye,Bye" to her friend Mallory. Then just four days later on the 16th, she started her Army crawl technique. She has really perfected that and uses it in combination with the roll. She is really getting into so many more things these days.

Last night, she went to her first band concert. The time of the concert was changed to 6:30pm so she was able to go. She did a great job of being quiet (thanks to Gerber puffs) and really seemed to enjoy the music.

Her new joy is to pull her socks off and then suck on them. She especially loves to do this in the car and when she wakes up from her naps. Soggy socks - so much fun, eewww.

Today was book day. She really took an interest in her books and would let me spend a lot of time reading and pointing things out. We read 5 books in one sitting, 3 of them we read twice; so I guess that makes 8 books. It was so much fun to see her really get interested. And she really loved the touch and feel books. I'd say her favorite book right now is Peek A Boo Penguins.
