Princesses, Mermaids, and Vikings

Spring Break started off this year with a visit from Grandpa and Grandma and a girls night at "Disaney" on Ice Princess Classics. Meanwhile, the guys had a March Madness evening. Kellen must have had a fun time because he had his first laugh (March 20th)!
Mima made these dresses so the girls could dress up as their favorite princesses. Jenna as Sleeping Beauty and Madilyn as Belle.
They were so excited and precious in the car on the way.
They said their favorites were Sleeping Beauty and Belle, but the souvenirs they picked out were Ariel and Cinderella.
Tinkerbell even made an appearance!
What a fun show!

A delicious trip to the Pantry Monday morning. . .
. . . made complete by feeding the ducks.
Wednesday, we made a trip up to the Denver Aquarium. Jenna wanted me to take her picture with the shark.

We were there just in time to see the mermaid show. Real mermaids swimming in the big tank! Jenna was enthralled and then pretended she was a mermaid in the little portholes.
Little Man just couldn't stay awake for it all.
After getting a mermaid tail for Christmas and an Ariel doll at Disney on Ice, what could be better than getting your picture taken with real mermaids?!
Saturday, we celebrated Grant's 4th birthday. Love these Viking hats for his How to Train Your Dragon party!
Pretty cool cake!
Kevin and Kellen sneaked away to catch some March Madness games. Okay, I guess I did too!
Are these Vikings cute or what?
Garrison provided some party entertainment - magic!
Kellen can now fit into this cute onesie Aunt Heather got him. Too bad it doesn't say "Aunties, " he's got 2 others that are awesome, too!

A terrible way to end a good week thanks to KU losing today. I think this is officially my worst bracket year ever - I have no teams left in the tournament. And yet, I still beat Kevin.

We've enjoyed having Kevin home this week so much! None of us want Monday to come.

Sixteen Weeks Old

Sixteen weeks old today! We've had a fun Spring Break week that I'll post about later when I have more time. Highlights of the week for Kellen include his first laugh on Sunday, March 20th. Daddy got it out of him during his night with the guys. I think we're going to have to retire the 0-3 month sizes after this week (Jenna picked out his socks today).
Had to include two pictures this week. The first one is a little better focus-wise. But, this one is so cute. A little blurry and Jenna's hair is covering some of the blocks (once again had to get her to get him to smile). Once Jenna got involved, he was smiley and wiggly.

Fifteen Weeks Old

It's been a tough week of tiredness. Jenna definitely spoiled us by sleeping through the night starting at 10 weeks old! I simply need more sleep than I'm getting. On a positive note Kellen has seemed to fall into a predictable schedule the past two days. He'll wake up around 7:30 am, take a nap around 10 am, another nap from about 2pm-4pm, a cat nap sometime in the evening and then be ready to sleep again around 9pm. Then he wakes up at 1:30 am and 4:30am - that part is wearing me out. But, the rest, I really like. There have been two nap times where I recognized he was tired, rocked him a little, put him in his crib awake, and drum roll please: he fell asleep on his own! That's the ultimate goal, right?!
We were finally able to capture a favorite thing that he does. When he's really tired or asleep and we pick him up, he stretches his arms up high, makes a cute face, and curls his knees up. So cute!
Another positive note: March Madness started yesterday! Why, oh why, did I let Kevin get into my head about picking Morehead St to beat Louisville? I changed that pick at the last minute and sure enough, MS won. Arghh! At least I'm currently ahead of him by 2 games, but it could have been 3.
And here's our 15 week old cutie (red and blue for KU's game this afternoon)! I tried and tried to get him to smile for this picture, to no avail. It was Jenna that got him to smile, in her first attempt! He sure does love her.

My Girl

Jenna has inherited a lot of great traits from her Daddy. Musical talent and quick wit, for example. She has also inherited a few things from me. One of them is a trait I like to call organization. . . She can pick out her own clothes and put them on all by herself. This is what she does with them after she picks them out, before she'll put them on. Love my girl!

Fourteen Weeks Old

Last week, after I posted the 3 month post, we celebrated Kellen's 3-month-day with a cake after dinner. We were also celebrating Daddy's 3 "ones" score at the band contest his band performed at that day.
Jenna helped blow out the candle.
Right on schedule for his 3 month growth spurt, we're doing a lot of this:
Not just 2 am, but more like 11:30pm, 1:30am, 4:30 am, etc. Seems not only has he "forgotten" how to sleep through the night, but also how to suck his thumb. So, between hunger awakenings and lost pacifier awakenings, I'm exhausted.
Fourteen weeks old today! Enjoyed a jazz concert this week. Other than that, nothing too exciting. It's possible that I'm leaving something out, but the brain just isn't functioning today.

Three Months Old

Three months old today! 14.2 lbs and 23 inches of sweetness (my home measurements). He's slept through the night (10:30pm-ish to 5:30pm-ish) four times now, but we still never know what he's going to do. One day he'll sleep all afternoon, the next day he'll be awake all afternoon! He can hold a toy for a little while now, but not long enough to get a picture. He still gets upset about wet/dirty diapers - a good sign for future potty training, I hope. He's starting to enjoy bath time and the cozy naps that follow. Last week was my first week to have to cook since he was born and we still have yet to buy any diapers. We have been very blessed!
