Keathley Vacation - Winter Park
Tuesday, July 7th, Dad, Mom, and the four of us headed to Winter Park. We stopped in Idaho Springs for an early pizza dinner at Beau Jo's Pizza. Yum! Kellen kept "calling" us with his phone saying, "Hello, this is Marco's Pizza. What do you want here?"
Wednesday, July 8th, we tried to take the kids swimming at the local rec center. The first time we went, there were a couple busses in the parking lot, but it didn't look like too many kids were in the pool. So, we paid and went in. Turns out, the kids were in the locker room! We stayed for just a little while and then couldn't take the crowdedness. We had some lunch and then decided to try the pool again. Still too crowded.
So, we went on a little hike instead. I love how they're still so sweet - holding hands. They even have a best friends forever club!
After dinner, we tried the pool again. This time - success! Not crowded! We wanted Jenna to try the big water slide, but she would NOT. Kevin told her he'd give her $10 if she did it - so she did! And then, she immediately said, "I'm going to do that again!" And she did - again, and again!
Kevin got four, I got three, David & Katie got a couple each. And, Matt got 8 - of course!
Saturday morning, David, Kevin, & Matt went on a big fishing trip on the Fraser River. And, we took the kids to a playground. They had the best time digging in the dirt and making creations.
There was a tiny picnic table just right for them and they wanted to eat lunch there. So, I went back to the mountain house and brought lunch back. After lunch, they had a great time creating an "American Ninja Warrior" course and timing each other. Jenna found the timer function on her watch and LOVES to time things!
Saturday afternoon - David and Katie treated us to the Minions movie! Jenna made all of us a yellow bracelet to wear in honor of the minions.
Sunday morning, we went to church and then drove up to Grand Lake. We ate at Pancho and Lefty's - a great restaurant with a great view of the lake. This boat was mounted on the ceiling above our table.
Monday, we all went up to the Winter Park Resort area. We were able to do the maze with David and Katie before they had to drive to the airport. Kellen loved jumping in the bounce house and sliding down, but then he had to walk back to the bouncy part in bare feet on gravel. When it was time to walk back to get his shoes he said, "This is like hot lava! Could you bring me my shoes?" He's such a funny kid!
Kellen was so excited to be big enough to do the bungy jump this year! He waited very patiently in line for almost an hour!
The flowers all around were so pretty! After golf, I took the kids through the maze again and we left just in time to miss the rain storm. It was a fun day and great way to end the vacation.
Tuesday, we packed up to head home. We've made a tradition of the four of us stopping for lunch at a fun restaurant in Denver on the way home. In the past, it's been Casa Bonita, but it's really not that great of a place to go anymore.

Thursday morning, July 9th, Jenna and Kellen did some bike riding.
And, then we took them to fish at the Lions Club pond.
my little fishing buddy
Matt arrived Wednesday evening and we were glad to have him along to help.
They were both very patient! No bites at all. So, we moved on from there to St. Louis Creek.
Uncle Matt always knows right where the fish will be!
Kellen caught a fish! Look very closely, it's camouflaged by his pants!
He was so excited! After I got it off the hook, he wanted to hold it.
I just had to include all of these pictures
Sheer joy!
Jenna caught one too, with Daddy. They were both so happy!!
Friday, July 10th - Happy 16th Anniversary to us! We started the day with a breakfast date. Then we went fishing with David, Katie, & Matt.
Thursday, late afternoon, David and Katie arrived. Jenna and Kellen were so excited for them to come; they spent a lot of time creating a bunny party. They made bunny booklets for everyone with the party itinerary: bunny bracelets, super hero game, treasure hunt (for bracelets - keep what you find), bunny quarters (They made these, too! Used to buy bracelets.), and dance party. My kids know how to throw a party!

Jenna decided to take the plunge
Kellen was not far behind - he loves to do everything Jenna wants to do!
While they were both in the icy cold water . . .
we were bundled up on the sidelines. It was cold and windy!
I have no idea how they could get in that water! Sunday evening, we had a fish grill & fry - 32 fish! Yum!
Kellen was so excited to be big enough to do the bungy jump this year! He waited very patiently in line for almost an hour!
They taught him how to do a back flip.
He loved it!
Then, Jenna had her turn . . .
and she learned to back flip, too!
Uncle Matt did a really great job helping Kellen all week.
My silly girl and me on the lift to the Alpine Slide
Ready to slide down the mountain
Uncle Matt and the four of us played mini golf on the newly designed golf course. The flowers all around were so pretty! After golf, I took the kids through the maze again and we left just in time to miss the rain storm. It was a fun day and great way to end the vacation.

So, this time we tried a new place - Pasquini's.
When the kids order pizza, they get to make their own at the table.
Sauce, cheese, sausage, pepperoni - so much fun!
Kellen and his creation
Jenna and her creation
They also give the kids a ball of dough to play with while they wait. They made all kinds of things - Jenna made a pelican, Kellen made a dog. The complimentary bread sticks were delicious. And the calzone that Kevin and I shared was huge and so good. That's a wrap on another fun vacation!
P.S. Dad waited until we were gone to catch the biggest fish of the week!

4th of July Fun
The fun: 150 or so water balloons. David and Katie supplied the fun (a gift for Jenna's birthday). Kevin filled the fun and I tied the fun.
The fun bunch! Kevin and me - the only fun grown-ups! Before we started, Jenna asked, "Are these filled with warm water?" No - hahahaha!
It really was great fun!
All that filling and tying and we were done within a few minutes!
Katie wanted to know who won. It was kind of hard to determine a winner. But, I'd have to say Kellen, because most of what we threw at him just bounced off!
After the water balloons, we broke out the slip 'n slide!
Kellen and I decided to exercise our independence and go against the "not for under 5 years old or adults" label on the slide. I was the only grown-up to try it. They missed out - it was fun! Happy Independence Day! (see video 2126 in "July 4th '15" folder)
