We've had a fun and busy summer! We had two fun weeks in the mountains. And here's a look at what else we did:
Kellen discovered that it's funny to pull your monster pjs over his head so he looks like a monster!
I found a new use for this umbrella - hail protection for the flowers in my big planter!
June 5th, Kevin and Papa installed a storm door with a screen, so we enjoyed a nice cross breeze all summer!
We enjoyed our 2nd annual rhubarb picking with our good friends.
After the rhubarb picking, the kids wanted more time with their friends (and the Mommies wanted more time to chat), so we walked down the street to a park. This park has a waterfall feature and a pond. Somehow, Jenna fell in and Kellen got his feet wet, too. The extra clothes that I always keep in the back of the car came in handy! This is what their feet looked like when we got home. Really not sure how only their left feet got wrinkly!
They went straight to baths, and then voluntarily put themselves into quiet time with books. I love that they love their books! They both completed all three of the main levels of the library's summer reading program.
The cabinet we've had for four years got it's crown molding. Thanks Papa for getting the tools we needed and for helping Kevin!
We had a lot of fun times with cousins! (see video 1992 in "Summer '15" folder)
We went to two different weeks of VBS - they love it! (see video 1339)

Lots of firsts this summer for Kellen - first VBS and first swimming lessons.
We did some hiking
Rampart Reservoir - one of our favorites
We went to the zoo a few times. This cute baby was sucking its big toe!
These two played like best friends - I love that so much! Tea party!

We got a free new toy - plasma car! Thanks to Pampers rewards points, this is our second free toy! We also have a big wheel from Pampers. I saved points all through diaper days and now, even though we've been out of diapers for at least a year, I keep entering the codes I see from websites. Saving the points has really paid off!
We got Jenna a bigger new-to-her bike. She had really outgrown her old one. She's growing up!
Kellen learned to hula hoop! (see video 2099) (And he learned to ride his bike - see previous post)

We went to the North Pole more than a few times! This is the first year that Jenna has outgrown a ride - too tall for the motorcycles. (Brother is riding in the background.) Bummer!
They made an inside beach! (The little paper on the couch is a drawing of the sun.) So full of creativity!
We got new non-sticky chain for Jenna's swing and got Kellen a big boy swing. He's so happy!
We bought some dirt and the kids loved watching the dump truck dump it out!
The reason we needed some dirt: our steep side yard had eroded quite a bit. Kevin and Papa did a great job terracing it with wood, then filling with dirt and rock. It looks great and is so much better and safer!

We enjoyed several trips for frozen yogurt!

They had hours of fun with this great garage sale find - K'nex! I initially didn't want to buy it because it was missing pieces. Kellen REALLY wanted it and Kevin consented. Turns out it was a great buy even with missing pieces! Tons of creative fun!
Thursday, July 16th, instead of going to the outside movie at the Shops at Briargate, we watched the same movie they were showing via Netflix on our laptop in the comfort of our own backyard.
No parking hassles, no crowd, we started the movie a little earlier=earlier bedtime. The only negative - no freshly made kettle corn. Overall, a great idea and super fun! And, I'm glad we did it because we never did make it to the Shops at Briargate outdoor movie this year.
We had some fun with friends who had these giant dandelions growing in their field!
I was honored to be able to travel to Ft Worth and help my dear friend remember and celebrate Granny. You never know what kind of fun you're going to have when you're with Katie - we started making strawberry pies at 11:15 pm! We had a sweet time together.
The last week of July, we were treated to a visit with Kevin's cousin and her family from Canada.
We shared lots of fun times including hikes, bike rides, giggling kids, reminiscing, and Water World! It was our family's first time to go to Water World - so much fun! A highlight of the summer for sure.
Cute second cousins!

We packed in so much fun that we may have worn them out a few times!
Our kids love to do the scavenger hunts at Focus on the Family - they've been doing them for years. But, just this year, we found out that if you take your completed hunt to the front desk upstairs, that they'll give you a couple Adventures in Odyssey trading cards and maybe even stickers. We also found out that there is a secret #4 scavenger hunt that is more difficult! And, when you finish that one, they give you an Adventures in Odyssey CD!
After a year long saga with our red Honda Pilot getting totaled by hail. Then, buying the white Honda Pilot from a guy who lied to us about having the timing belt fixed. We bid good riddance to the white Honda Pilot. When we went to trade it in, we found out that not only had the previous owner lied about and falsified repair documents, he had also turned back the odometer at least 80K! We are so glad to be done with that ordeal! And, glad to be the new drivers of a 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

We had our last bit of family fun on Saturday, August 8th. Kevin had several gift cards left from the end of the school year or maybe even from Christmas. So, we drove up to Denver and had a gift card day. First stop, Chipotle for lunch. Then, a movie - the main reason for going to Denver - the gift card was to a theater that's only there, not here.
Then we went to a fun park.
We had Cold Stone ice cream for dinner! And there was enough left on the gift card to buy a pint to bring home. Thank you to the band parents and students! And, last, there was a toy store nearby so they each got a small new toy.
These two are really going to miss each other when school starts! They decided to dress alike for church on Sunday! So cute.
We've had our dentist appointments and doctors appointments, we've cleaned the house, met Jenna's teacher, and had our last fun day before school starts. Now we're ready - bring on the 3rd grade!
