Spring Break

Friday, March 18th, we started off Spring Break with an extra day off - Snow Day!

Saturday, Kevin took the kids to Disney on Ice. Kellen had been coughing for a few days and came home from the show with a fever. My parents arrived around dinner time to spend the week with us.
As always, Jenna and Kellen were our main entertainment. This time - Tango! (See video in Spring Break '16" folder) Kids never act like they're feeling bad for long!
Monday mid-morning, Papa, Mima, Grandpa, Grandma, and our gang of four loaded up and headed to Estes Park with a yummy lunch stop at Chick-fil-a. Tuesday morning, we drove around Rocky Mountain National Park. Then in the afternoon, our four tried out the pool at the YMCA. We were so proud of Jenna for testing for her green band and passing without even practicing! The pool was a little too cool for our liking and we only stayed an hour or so.
Wednesday morning, we woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland.
It was a good day to stay inside, stay in our pjs,
and dye eggs!

Thursday morning, it was still cold, blowy, and snowy. We were tired of being stuck inside. By this time, Jenna and Kevin were not feeling well. And, a fiber optic cable in Longmont had been cut by ice thus cutting internet and cable for the whole area. So, we decided to pack up after lunch and go home early (original leaving plan was Friday morning). After all, there was a KU basketball game to be watched Thursday night - priorities!! After lunch we enjoyed a little birthday celebration for Dad (his actual birthday) and me (early celebration). Mom made our favorite Italian Cream Cake! Then we packed up and headed home.
Friday morning, Grandpa, Grandma, and our four drove to Green Mountain Falls to our favorite breakfast place - The Pantry. Jenna's Happy Face Pancake did not disappoint!
And, my Pantry Omelet with Raisin Toast was especially good that day!
Friday evening brought more snow. And by Saturday morning, we had quite a bit of accumulation.
We made it out to the indoor egg hunt at church.
Easter morning was sunny, and covered white in snow. A beautiful reminder that He makes us white as well.
Tonight we celebrated a belated Easter with the cousins.
They all had a great time discovering their Easter baskets
and having another egg hunt - inside because it was snowing - again.

Seussical

Saturday afternoon, we went to a local high school's performance of Seussical the Musical. It was so good! This was Kellen's first time to go to a musical and he was enthralled. At the end, his favorite character - The Cat in the Hat - was so nice to pose for a picture with him.
Jenna loved it too! Her favorite character - Horton the elephant. When I told her what the musical storyline was, she was sure to find an elephant in her collection to bring with her.

I can't say enough - this musical is great and fun! Perfect for a first time musical experience for kids and great for adults, too!
