Saturday, April 2nd - We went to Grant's baseball game and enjoyed watching him get safe after an exciting pickle! Then we watched the final four games.

Monday, April 4th - Kansas vs North Carolina in the National Championship! Jenna and Kellen wore their KU shirts for me. The first half of the game was garbage. But, then KU came back from a 15 point deficit to win!
Friday, April 8th - Saturday, April 9th - Tender Care Consulting working retreat at Glen Eyrie. It's so beautiful there. Friday evening, we watched the turkeys fly up high into the trees to roost. So fascinating! We ended our time together on Saturday with a tea to celebrate our birthdays.
Jenna and Kellen spent the night with Papa and Mima on Friday night while I was at the retreat. Mima made Kellen the longer cape that he had been wanting to complete his Krossfire costume.
Thursday, April 14th - State preview concert. Garrison played French horn, Jenna trumpet, and Kevin filled in on euphonium. They played Jenna's favorite piece (so far in her career) - Chester. Pretty cool!
Friday, April 15th - We went to the Colorado Springs Philharmonic performance of the Raiders of the Lost Ark score while we watched the movie. So fun!
Saturday, April 16th - Kellen and I colored Easter eggs while Kevin had to do incoming 7th grade instrument selection and Jenna worked on driver's ed.
Sunday, April 17th - Church, then Easter dinner with our family. Kellen really wanted an egg hunt, so we hid eggs for him.
Then, the traditional cousins performance.Monday, April 18th - State band festival in Ft. Collins. I was scheduled to work and kind of sad about it because Mima, Kevin, Heather, Geremy, and Kellen were all going up to Ft Collins to listen. Miracle #1 - phone call at 5:30 am saying they don't need me to work just yet, but to stay on stand-by. Mima, Kevin, and Kellen left around 7:30am for Ft. Collins. Miracle #2, - phone call a little before 8:00 am releasing me for the day (this usually doesn't happen until 1:00pm). Miracle #3 - I was able to reach Heather and Geremy RIGHT as they were about to reach the exit to my house to catch a ride with them!
Praise God for orchestrating my ability to be there! TCA had a great performance and it was great to hear so many other talented high school musicians as well. What a great day!
Friday, April 22nd - Crimson Jazz headed to Greeley for the Greeley Jazz Festival. Kellen didn't have school, and ever since we went to Greeley for All State Band 5 years ago, Kellen has LOVED Greeley, so we went too!
Great performance!
Jenna received one of two Outstanding Soloist medals from the judge.
Pool time after dinner!
So fun!
Saturday, April 23rd - We listened to a few jazz groups, then went to lunch at Fat Albert's - best pie! After lunch, we went to the Colorado Model Railroad Museum.
It's so fascinating! My favorite is the simulated forest fire with real smoke. We could've spent a lot more time there, but we wanted to get back for the end of the Wayne Bergeron master class.
Wayne Bergeron has played on MANY movie soundtracks including The Incredibles and he played those famous 5 notes. So cool!
Saturday afternoon, we enjoyed seeing him in concert with the Zaremba Jazz Fellowship. It was a fun weekend!
Sunday, April 24th-Monday, April 25th - Perhaps the last snow of the season?
Tuesday, April 26th - My 46th birthday. I did errands, laundry, and watched a movie at home while everyone was at school. Then, we went to Fuji Mountain for hibachi for dinner.
Thursday, April 28th - Our championship shirts arrived - still celebrating!
Friday, April 29th - A marathon day! Up at 5:20 am to work half a shift in the NICU. Home around 2pm for "lunch" and a shower. Then, about 45 minutes of consulting work that I hadn't planned. Kellen home from piano at 3pm (thanks to Papa!). Jenna home at 3:20 pm thanks to a friend. 3:25 - "If we can get ready for the concert in 20 minutes, I can take you through a drive through for 'dinner.'" 3:45 leave for Jenna's piano lesson. 4:30-5:15pm piano lesson. 5:30pm Concert #1.
Madilyn received an award for excellence in clarinet. It's been really cool for Kevin to teach her this year.
Garrison received a character award. And Jenna received her band letter (didn't get a good picture of her).
And, all taught at some point by Kevin. Really special! Home around 10 pm after starting the day at 5:20 am. Whew! What a day!
Saturday, April 30th - Kevin and I joined some band families for a tour of a winery - wine made from lemons. In the evening, I joined some friends from church for a game night. A full and fun April!
