Dear friends,
I lived in the magical land of Taiwan from January-June 2008. I created this blog about a year ago, but wasn't all that motivated- I only posted once. =) (This is a modification of that post, because I want you to see this adorable little video.) Taiwan was the experience of a lifetime; it far exceeded any possible expectations I may have had. I made dear friends there, both Taiwanese and American, who I miss very much.
Let me introduce you to two of my favorite students, Danny and Wesley. They're seven year-old twins, and two of the cutest kids in all of Taiwan. Danny was a little token happy. We would give tokens to our younger students as an incentive to speak English as much as possible. Every so often, they got to exchange these tokens for prizes at the "token store". Danny's daily objective was to get the most tokens in the class. And he achieved that goal 99.9% of the time. Wesley's really smart, too, but he's more of a day-dreamer. He was often somewhere in his own little world and thus found it hard to accomplish anything in a timely manner. He was always humming little tunes to himself.
On the first day of class, I told my students that I speak French and Italian, and they asked me to speak some. I told them I would after class. "Say French and Italian!", they all reminded me at the end of class. So I taught them "goodbye" in both languages. And a few weeks later, some of them still remembered! So here you have it, two of the cutest kids in all of Taiwan: Danny (left) and Wesley (right):
"Arrivederci! Au revoir!"
Don't you just want to eat them up? Too cute.
