Cooper and The Weekend

Scott was gone to Houston all week. He came back Thursday night thank goodness. It was a long night! Cooper had gotten a cold on Tuesday and was just kind of stuffy. I did not know if I should take him to the Doctor or not. Thursday night I put him down for bed and he would not stay asleep in his bed or in the bouncer. He was so stopped up he could not breath. It was so sad! I had to hold him upright on my chest from 8 until about 10 when Scott got home. We fed him and he would not go to sleep. At about 11 he threw up and would not take anymore to eat. Scott and I took turns walking him around because if you sat down he would cry. Finally at 12 I went to bed and woke up at 2 and took over. I fed him and he finally went to sleep at about 3. I put him down in his bed and the threw up again. I was getting worried. I slept with him on my chest until 6 that morning when he woke up to eat. He ate and threw up again. I was worried about him getting dehydrated since he had not kept anything down. We went to the doctor Friday at 11 and he has a bad ear infection which was probably making him sick along with all the drainage. This is his second ear infection. I always had ear infections and they say they are genetic. He is still pretty stopped up and hates having his nose aspirated. He keeps waking up at night because he can't breath. He has been sleep in bed with us propped up.
Scott parents and grandma came down for the weekend and we had a get together with them, his sister, brother in-law, and Jason and Mandi (Scott's friends from college) on Saturday night. We cooked hamburgers and cheese fries and had a great time. We enjoyed the weekend with everyone.

Growth Spurt

Cooper has been sleeping through the night for about 2 weeks now. Last night he woke up at 1:30 and went back to sleep. Then he woke up again at about 2:30. I went in to access the problem. He was crying pretty hard. I gave him gas med., his diaper was not leaking, he had not thrown up, and I did not hear him gulping which would mean his reflux was acting up. Finally I picked him up and gave him his passy and he started chomping down. I held him for about 5 minutes and put him back down. I went to bed and about 3 minutes later he lost his passy and was crying. He was acting like he was hungry. I went to the trusty old book to see if he could be going through a growth spurt. It said they go thorough a growth spurt at about 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months. Ok, I fixed a bottle and he downed it all and went back to sleep until morning. I guess he is going through one. It should only last a couple of days. If he keeps growing like he is I am going to have to start working out just so I can hold him. When we are out
people always ask how old he is and when I tell them they are like "he is so big."

Cooper singing!!! Ha Ha. Yes, his shirt is always wet because he is drooling and blowing bubbles alot.

Cooper love to watch football. He really gets tuned in to the TV when it is on.

3 Months

Cooper is 3 months old today. He weights 13 pounds. He is getting to be a big boy. He eats between 3 and 5 ounces. He is talking, smiling, laughing, blowing bubbles, sitting in his boppy, and exersaucer. He has pretty good head control and can now hold onto a rattle type object, bring his hands together and to his mouth. I noticed today he started trying to reach for things while he was playing. I know I say this every time but I can't believe how fast he is growing. If you have noticed the song I have playing talks about a child growing up and how the stages of them growing don't last for long. I love that song and it really hits me when I hear it. I am enjoying being a mother so much and am so thankful for this little blessing.

Cooper love his new boppy seat he got for Christmas.

I had to add this picture because I thought it was so funny. He is going cross eyed.

Christmas # 2

We had a GREAT Christmas this past week and weekend at my parents. We have not seen everyone since Thanksgiving and the extended family since Mother's Day. We stayed busy. Thursday we had Christmas with my parents and sisters families. Morgan rode her pony, Ginger and Cooper sat on her for a quick picture. Aunt Bebe (me) had to get on Ginger and the the Juicy out of her (that is what Morgan calls it when they are full of energy) Scott thought it was so funny because she kept trying to buck with me. Friday, Whitney, Kennedy, Mom, Cooper and me went to Wichita Falls shopping, Ashley had to work. We had a great time. The boys stayed around the house and went to get some firewood. Saturday we went to my aunt and uncle's house for our Christmas together. The boys had a skeet shoot contest and cooked on the BBQ Pit. It was all so good. I don't think I need to eat for a few weeks. We got to spend time with all the family and see Shelbi and Peyton who we had not seen in 6 months. There is a 5 generation picture below and a picture of all the grandmas and grand kids. There is also a picture of Scott with his new Tarleton Seal. It was a sup rise for him. He kept asking me what he was getting for Christmas and it was driving him crazy because I wouldn't tell him. I can't write under the pictures for some reason.

Happy New Year & Happy Birthday “Grammy”

This week has not only been one to put in the books but one to celebrate a couple of lives that have passed on. This past weekend we lost our next door neighbor, at 100years of age, that we had the pleasure of getting to know the past several months of living in Midlothian. Although he was not well known by my family we did share in many conversations about life, memories and philosophies since his entry into this world in 1908. In traveling to Mr. Fred’s visitation at Restland Memorial Cemetery in Dallas it afforded us the opportunity to visit the burial site of my Great Grandmother ("Grammy") who was buried on the same piece of real estate at 100 years of age as well.

Because Restland Memorial is one of the largest cemeteries in the nation it took me quite a while to locate her plot with a flashlight, even knowing the immediate section of her burial from nearly 4 years back. Although only a handful of you who read this will actual share in the fond memories of Cooper's Great-Great Grandmother, all of you would have truly appreciated the love and kindness that this petite-framed lady could offer. She was an incredible person that everyone would have wanted to emulate and someone I would have loved to introduce my wife and son to, which I am confident will eventually happen. Grammy was one that would epitomize the cliche "that the world would be a much better place if full of individuals like herself".

Grammy we love you and thank you for the footprint that you have left on our lives and the legacy that we will have the honor of telling about for years to come. Happy 104th Birthday!

Love,

Scott, Kimberly & Cooper

Wishing you all a very blessed and safe 2009!
