" A Little Slice of Heaven"

So I don't know if anyone even checks us out anymore.........haven't posted forever! But if you still do, we are finally moved and are feeling a little settled. We are busy getting the house into order. We have gotten out of most of the boxes and are now trying to get the yard in, before the secondary water is turned off. Our sprinkling system was finished on Friday and we are laying sod tomorrow. We feel like we live in "A Little Slice of Heaven". The boys say this is heaven with all the bugs, DIRT (hence the sod), frogs, snakes and forts they could ever imagine. The sunsets are beautiful, the air is clean and clear, (minus the lake smell) and the neighbors and friends are great! We feel like we have come home! If heaven is like this we can't wait! Pics will follow shortly.

Happy Birthday to Josh!

Josh with his first dog Lucky
On April 14, 2000 our darling little Josh was ushered into this world in a pouring rain storm, much like today. We were so excited to have a baby boy! I couldn't believe how easy he was to deliver, I didn't even feel like I had had a baby. Josh is a sweet boy who has a BIG heart. Josh is always kind to his friends and loves to play with them. He loves to play football, basketball and ride his awesome bike. What I like most about Josh is his sensitive heart, he makes sure others are always included. Josh we love you and hope you have a GREAT DAY!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Sucker Grampy-Donald Ray Smith

Our Grampy passed away Sunday night. We will forever miss him, but know we will see him again someday. What a dear sweat man who will be missed by all. We love you Grampy!

Donald Ray Smith "In Loving Memory" 7/6/1926 ~ 4/5/2009 Donald Ray Smith, son of Harry Melroy Smith and Bessie Lee Dorton, has entered the eternities to experience the anticipated peace and beautiful reunion he is now enjoying. Known by his family as Grampy and the rest of the world as Ray, he will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving, compassionate, loyal and deeply patriotic servant of the Lord. Ray was born in Lakin, Kansas and moved to Provo, Utah as a child during The Depression. An event that would shape the course of Ray's life was his service in World War II. He enlisted in the Army at the age of eighteen and spent the next two and half years in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Ray was a member of Company C, 130th Infantry, 33rd Infantry Division, and served with great pride during numerous campaigns. Among many honors for his military service, Ray received the Combat Infantryman Badge, a Presidential Unit Citation, and the Bronze Star. When Ray returned home from the war, he met the first love of his life, Margaret (Margie) Evelyn Graves. They were married May 22, 1947, in Reno, NV and solemnized on February 6, 1993 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. After Margie's passing in 1999, Ray met and married the second love of his life, Zelma Beth Allred, May 2, 2000. In Ray's words, Beth was "just what Margie ordered". Beth's never-ending care for Ray is a gift the family will be eternally grateful for. Ray was a very positive, energetic and talented man who freely gave of his resources to bless the lives of others. Ray was employed at Intermountain Motor Lines (IML) and was a very courteous and safe 'man who drove a truck' for 33 years. Ray's greatest joy was when he was re-finishing upholstery in antique cars. Ray's upholstery talents were immeasurable and renowned, earning him many prestigious awards. His antique cars appeared in parades, movies, commercials and were used to transport civic and church leaders at various events. Ray was a judge at several antique car shows, among them the annual Concours d'Elegance in Salt Lake City, UT. Ray took great pride in his antique cars and was always willing to share his knowledge of the industry with others. Ray was a very gentle but passionate man regarding his country, family and religion. He was a very social individual who could strike up a conversation with a stranger and before long have a life long friend. He was blessed with great people skills and was truly loved by the young children in his life. Ray served in various church callings including first counselor in the bishopric, ward executive secretary, and ward librarian. Ray is survived by his wife, Beth; children: Lynda Smith, Susie (Rick) Wilkins, Ken (Laurie) Smith; three step sons: W. Clay Brcko, Leslie J. Brcko, Richard A. Brcko; brothers: Bud (Sharon) Smith and Claude (Marsha) Smith; grandchildren: Kelly (Brooke) Wilkins, Kari (Chris) Cox, Todd Wilkins; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife, Margie; son, Donald Ray Jr. parents, Harry and Bessie; four sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Sat., April 11th, 11 a.m. at the Taylorsville 19th Ward, 2030 W Chateau Ave. (5250 S), Taylorsville, UT. Friends may call Fri., April 10th, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd, Taylorsville, UT and Sat. at the church, 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E 1300 S, Salt Lake City, UT. The family would like to thank all medical care professionals at the IMC and care center facilities.

Shopping Smart Awesome Deal!!

I just wanted to let all of you know about a great grocery shopping deal/service. I have been a member of Shopping Smart for years. My aunt turned me onto it right after we bought our house (and I was so grateful for the savings!!) Shopping Smart is a company that evaluates the grocery ads that come out weekly and rates the prices as to what kind of "Sale" you are getting. I have found it very helpful for me because it takes all the guess work out of price comparison and which stores to go to. They compare all of the stores ads and prices to each other and then you know who has the best price, if its a GREAT deal and if you could use a coupon to get a lower price. I have been able to save so much money over the years..........and they do all the work. They also plan menus around what the weekly ads have on sale.

Normally, a membership is $99.00 for a year, but if we can get three more people to sign up, besides me, we can all get a membership for a year for only $24.75, that's only $2.07 a month. I thought I would let all of you know about it in case any of you would like to start using the service at a fourth of the regular price.

There is no pressure here and I don't want anyone to fell obligated, I just thought I would pass it on.

If you want to know more about it, let me know and I will explain further.

Jarom Jargens

Last night I am using the bathroom when Jarom busts in and starts climbing up on the counter. I say, "What are you doing?"
Jarom:"Getting on the counter."
Gets up there looks in the mirror and says, "Lookin good". Winks, climbs back down and goes out. "Shut the door", I call after him.
Will there ever be days that you can go to the bathroom by yourself again?

Out of the Mouth's of Babes!

So, yesterday I went on the 6th grade field trip to the Clark Planetarium with Kylie and her class, (it was fun, by the way) and left Jake and Jarom with my mom. When I got back Jake had obviously told my mom all about having to say good-bye to Bear. When we got in the car I asked Jake, "What did you tell Grand-ma about Bear?" He said, "I told her we took him to the Relief Society." I couldn't stop laughing! That kid keeps me rolling!

Thanks for all the offers to come and play with all your dogs. We might just have to take you up on them. I think we will be going for the pet rock.........NO MESS!!! Yes, carpets are a must, but since we will be ripping them out this weekend................ YEAH!!!!! Did I mention RIPPING THEM OUT? YEAH!!!!! We will not be getting them cleaned. Oh how I love the smell of new carpet! Margaret, yes on getting the boys together. Josh talks all about Matthew and playing with him too. Jackie, no not sad, but you could at least give me a Sunny Cal storie now and then, you know one with lots of juice to spice up my life!

So now that I have replied to everyone on this post, does anyone know if you can respond to comments people make to you directly to them? I am sure you can, but I am blog illiterate. Do they have a book called "blogging for dummies"? Also, how do you set yourself up so you can automatically see who has updated their blog and you don't have to go through all of them everytime. Time is of the essence here! I look forward to all you savy bloggers and your advice! Ta ta for now!
