William was born on January 12, 2010 at 1:18pm. Our sweet baby decided he would arrive 5 weeks and 1 day early! I had been having some pressure pains for the last 3 weeks or so...they would come and go and really got better after a warm bath. I went to my 34 week dr.'s apt and told both the dr. and nurse of the pressure. They both said that the feeling was normal. So last Sunday it seemed to be a bit more, but of coarse I was thinking "this is normal"...I mean this was going to be my first child so how was I suppose to know what a contraction was!" Well, Monday afternoon came around and it seemed a little more uncomfortable. I called the office and spoke with a nurse that told me to lay down for an hour, take a Tylenol and if it didn't feel better in an hour to call her back. So an hour later I got up and felt much better. We were also having our last breast feeding class from 6-8pm, and I really wanted to attend. So we went to the class, it was over at 8:15pm- Will ran me home so I could watch the rest of the Bachelor while he went to pick us up Panera. While he was gone the pressure returned...this time I felt pain in my lower back. We decided we would go to the hospital to see what this was...well, it turned out they were contractions and they were 5 min. apart! The nurse said your about to have a baby and it will probably be here by midnight.
After the epideral, everything slowed down and I ended up having him on Tuesday! The epideral was wonderful...I was never in any pain!! Baby William was perfect! He did have to go to the NICU for about an hour and a half just to monitor his breathing but then he was sent to the Well Baby nursery later that afternoon. I never got to see him in the NICU b/c I had to wait for the epideral to wear off, but Will did. The nurse did bring him by the recovery room on her way to the Well Baby nursery so I could hold him since I did not get to after he was born...(i only got to give him one little kiss and then away he went to NICU) :( Oh, I forgot to mention, he weighed 6lbs. 10oz. and 19.5" long!!! That was amazing to hear! Our prayers were answered!
Recent update: We did have to go to the pediatrician on Sat. to check his biliruban level since he was a premie. He was down to 5lbs. 12 oz. and his biliruban was 15.9 so a home health nurse came to our house that afternoon to set him up on a phototherapy light wrap. So from Saturday to Tuesday morning he was hooked up to this machine. His levels did go down and he is doing very good now!
