The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is a damn funny series that I've been watching lately on the hotel TV. Produced by the same producer of Two and a Half Men, Chuck Lorre, you'll be sure it is funny. This is a quote I find very interesting in one of the episodes on Xmas:

Sheldon: You bought me a present? Why would you do such a thing? I know you think you're being generous, but the foundation of gift giving is reciprocity. You haven't given me a gift, you've given me an obligation. The essence of the custom is that I now have to go out and purchase for you a gift of commensurate value and representing the same perceived level of friendship as that represented by the gift you've given me. Ah, it's no wonder suicide rates skyrocket this time of year. Oh, I brought this on myself by being such an endearing and important part of your life...

I find this quite true indeed. The script writer is a genius to produce this line, along many other of his hilarious quotes. You can find more at this site.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all, although it's a few days late.

This New Year is quite special as I am not in Malaysia. The last time I was not in Malaysia during New Year was probably 11 years ago, when I was in the States. This time around, due to work commitment, I'm in Toronto. Luckily I managed to contact Uncle Lee and met up with him here in Toronto. I was honored to be invited to his lovely home and have dinner together with his family. I enjoyed their company very much indeed.

Can't believe it's already 2011. Feels like time just zaps past like lightning. The end of a year always makes us review our achievements and sometimes count our blessings. I typically would do that too. Again, no major achievements this year that I can recall of. Looking back, these are the things that I remember:
- changing jobs: much happier at the new place, and gives me more opportunity as well as freedom.
- travel (work): due to work, finally visited Sabah and Sarawak, not to mention Toronto. Also visited Bangalore twice, to company's HQ.
- travel (leisure): finally visited Bangkok after so long, to attend a uni buddy's wedding. Awesome to have finally being able to catch up with 2 uni buddies and knowing a bunch of cool Thai friends.
- aikido: now at 3rd Kyu, slacking a bit due to all the work traveling that caused me to miss a lot of classes.
- diving: not much, only made like 2 trips to Dungun. Finally dived with contact lenses and can see better under water.
- contact lens: started wearing contact lenses on an occasional basis, so that I can get used to it and wear it while diving.
- new friends: got to know a group of new friends from Plurk. Awesome and fun loving bunch of people. Also as mentioned above a bunch of awesome Thai friends.

Have been slacking on updating my blog last year, I've counted only 19 posts, which averages to less than 2 posts per month. Not sure if anyone is still reading this blog, but I will try to update more often I guess.

Copy pasting my last year's resolution:
1) Train Aikido more often and get into V shape (in progress, now reaching H shape from A shape)
2) Make a decision to stay or leave
3) Think and do it... not just think alone
4) Get at least 1 project up and running
5) etc... (will add on as I go along... haha yeah I cheat!)

The conclusion so far is:
1) Quite stagnant... need more work on this, fail
2) Already left and joined a new place, so I guess this is achieved
3) Hmm... still need to work on this, fail
4) Fail
5) N/A

Yikes, quite bad eh. That's why as they say, we make resolutions so that we could break them. Haha :P

New resolutions? I guess pretty much same as last year, except #2 is more on seriously thinking if I should plan to migrate.

Anyways enough rambling. Once again Happy 2011 to All! Have fun, stay safe, be good. :)
