One of my best friend got married last Sunday (although they have done their ROM few months back). So I was tasked with becoming his bestman plus hengdai for the morning "jip san leong" ceremony. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was also tasked to be the wedding car driver since the supposed driver fell sick, not to mention back up cameraman because the cameraman almost couldn't make it due to food poisoning. So my role = bestman/hengdai/driver/backup cameraman... LOL
After some kelam kabut due to lack of planning, our departure time was delayed from 10:15am to about 11am. Then on the way to pick up the bride, we hit another snag - groom forgot to bring flowers (left it on the table at home). So one of the car had to make a u-turn to fetch it. Finally after all the unplanned incidents, we got to the hotel. Seriously, Empire's elevator is so so so slow, given that it's such a new building.
Then began our encounter with the opposition force (bride's jimui's). First thing they requested is the gangnam style dance. Oh man... seriously? I think this is gonna be like the theme for a lot of "jip san leong" challenge for some while. The other hengdai's all don't wanna do it, so no choice, I had to do it.
Next they make us all eat spicy nasi lemak with added chili padi. That was quite a joke really... they absolutely underestimated our capacity for spiciness. C'mon, regular chili padi? "Sup sup sui" lah.
Next up was pushups, and then while on the floor, use mouth to pick out some candies from a plate. Easy peasy, 2 hengdai completed the task in no time. And then they want 5 different types of notes to be stuck on a big love sign. No big deal.
Not sure if there is supposed to be another game or two... but the plan was foiled by me. As the photographer was entering the room, I blocked the door from closing, and then together with the hengdai we pushed through the door. LOL.
Finally, friend was "forced" to read out some conditions and sign the paper, and once done, mission accomplished.
Hahaha haven't been doing this for a while... quite fun indeed.
