It's been a while

Sorry. I've dropped off of the blogging for a week or so. We've been ultra busy. Trevor volunteered to cook dinner for 140 people at the dental school on Tuesday night. Yes, in our kitchen, just the two of us. I didn't know it when we got married, but he is such an entertainer. He loves to feed people, and so do I. So, we've been busy getting ready for that. The dinner was great and the people raved about it. I was really proud of Trevor and his ability to plan and pull it off.

Here are some photos from the last little while. She is growing, as evidenced by her adorable round cheeks. She is such a delight.

Dad is always so funny.

Her hands are always going. I turned around in the car to find her asleep with her hands resting quietly. I loved how she knit them together.

Happiness is...

A softy blanky to hug. Watching football with Dad.

A full tummy.

Life is good.

GO UTES!!

We are so proud of the Ute victory on Saturday. Luckily it was on national TV and many people in Virginia saw it! We've been flying our flag all week.

Cereal

I've started to feed Savvy some rice cereal. She LOVES it. I know she is a little young, but she has shown the signs of being very interested in food, and I know that rice cereal is about as benign as it gets. So, after she had finished her first bowl last night, and I was starting on the second, I thought I would film her for a minute. It is fun to feed her. All four limbs get moving because she is so excited. I have to shovel it in her mouth very fast, or she gets her hands in there and makes a major mess. This video shows one huge grin that she gives. She does that all day long, but she is a bit camera shy so I was glad that we caught at least one. Sorry about the music in the background. Trevor has been out of town all week on rotation in rural Virginia, so I have had music playing to keep us company and I just forgot that it was on. Anyway, enjoy!

Sing to sleep

From the time she was new, Savvy has fallen easily asleep to "Claire de lune," on of my very favorite piano pieces of all time. I've started calling it "Claire de lunesta" because of the incredible effect it has on Savannah. For some reason (and I'm not complaining!) Savvy has largely stopped crying herself to sleep, and now "sings" or talks herself to sleep. So, I couldn't get her to sleep yesterday, so out came Claire de lune and the swing and she was on her way. I had to take a little video so that you can hear her. It makes me laugh. Sorry about the picture being on its side. I turned the camera on its side as if I was taking a picture, not realizing that it doesn't work that way with video. Sorry.

Big-girl PJ's

Savvy has become mobile in the crib. Yikes! I went in to get her in the morning the other day and she had scooted all the way to one end of the crib and was turned completely sideways. She was pretty proud of herself. She scoots herself right out of her swaddle and out from under her blankets. Then, she wakes up because she gets cold, I think. (I'm hoping she will stretch her nights out to 12 hours soon. I'm willing to experiment to help her along!) So, I pulled out these new PJ's tonight to see if she can stay warm, and stay asleep. They are cute and make her look big. (I wish they came in my size too.) She obviously didn't want her picture taken. Her look says, "just put me in bed."

Hungry?

Last night we went out to eat with friends adn got home just about the right time for Savvy to eat and go to bed. She was hungy enough that she was looking for anything to put in her mouth and test to see if it was food. Trevor had her up on his shoulders and she found his ear. She was sucking the life out of it and obviously we got a kick out of it.

Binky Dent

When Savvy was born her first apgar scores were really low because of the drugs that they put me on. After the fact, I read the notes from the delivery room doctors/nurses and they also listed that she had "poor suck." I have laughed about that several times, especially now that she is really enjoying her binky. She sucks the binky so hard that she has a huge red dent in her face when she spits it out. Sometimes I can even see dents where the little holes in the binky are. She is funny. P.S. I am loving her eyes. They have a dark ring around the outside and have some flecks of green and brown coming in the middle. They are really cool. I hope they stay cool.

Big Warner News

Big news in the Warner Fam--Grace is engaged!! She is engaged to Jonny Murdock, who we absolutely LOVE. (No, that is not Jonny in the picture. It is me!) They are getting married in December. We are so excited!! Just another reason to be really excited to go home for the holidays. Also, with the addition of two new babies and one in-law, it is for sure time for a new family picture. (Been waiting for just the right post to add this beauty of a picture! I love you Poochie!!! I miss you.)

Break out the Scotchguard

Why is it so fun to try on new shoes? Once you become an adult, feet rarely change sizes too much, so it is one part of your body that you can really depend on. You can amass HUGE collections of shoes, and still never have enough. Shoes are a wonderful accessory.

For the first time in over a year and a half, I bought myself some new shoes. My feet unfortunately have not fully recovered from pregnancy, (remember these babies?) and I have a feeling that they never will. I have grown an entire shoe size!! So, none of my shoes (or my clothes, for that matter) fit. I thought it would feel better to go get a few new pairs to spruce up my wardrobe. It felt SO good and now I have to show them to you. Here they are:

The classic browns; functional and formal.
The kick-around reds; comfy, casual, and very girly.

The sporty pinks; comfy, casual, KEDS. (Remember when we got a new pair of white keds at the beginning of every school year?) Keds have come a long way.And last but not least, the SILVER BULLETS; whimsical, totally unnecessary, but so fun that I couldn't resist. They even have a little heel. Love them. They remind me of my cute stylish little sister Grace.

Die, hard.

Yes, we are die-hard Ute fans, and we watched our Utes die, hard last Thursday. We stayed up to watch the game (it started at 10 PM our time) and what a downer! Let's hope this weekend against Air Force is a better one. I had to tie just a little brain squeezer around Savvy's head so that you can tell she is a girl. I got her all dressed up in her Ute gear, looked at her, and was thankful that I don't have many gender-neutral clothes for her. Can't wait for that hair to grow a little more...
