Happy Easter!

Yesterday we had all of the 4th-year dental families in our ward over for Easter dinner and an egg hunt. That included 34 adults, and 28 kids. Yes, that is just Trevor's class, and just our ward. I am still amazed by those numbers!
Anyway, we had the most fun party out in the yard. The weather was beautiful and all of the food turned out well. Two friends and I made about 90 chimichangas and they were delicious! It was a really fun way to serve a crowd. Here are some photos of the festivities.
Uncle Derek came! This is the only half-good picture I got of Savvy's dress, but it is a cute one of the two of them.
Part of the group as they started to gather.
I roped off part of the yard where I had put all of the eggs. Each kid got 12 eggs, so the yard was COVERED with them. The kids all lined up by the fence and we started with the youngest then worked our way up to the older kids. I really enjoyed being the Easter bunny!!
I didn't mean to catch my friend's back side, :) but I did mean to catch the little girl reaching up to the mail box to get some eggs. It was so cute to see the kids race around and collect their eggs. The present ball. The kids really had fun with it. This first little boy got his present and when it fell out he shouted, "A PTERODACTYL!!!!" As if it was the best thing he had ever seen. All the other little boys said, "cool!!" It totally made my day!
Of course Pacee was there, and there were dozens of hugs. They are such good friends.

The Day the Relatives Came

Remember that classic children's book? I always used to wonder who had relatives that would come to stay, and where on earth would they stay in our house that was already full of people?! Now, I have learned the necessity of the guest room, and I LOVE to have relatives come stay. Last weekend Cara and Jackson drove all the way from Michigan for a visit and it was GREAT! They spent a day with Savannah while I worked, and then we did a few fun things here around Richmond. We LOVE Cara and Jackson!! For fun pictures and a much better description click here. I, of course, carried my camera everywhere we went, and never took a picture. Thankfully Cara is a faithful documenter of all things fun. We miss you guys already and can't wait for our next visit.

Signs of Spring

Hydrangea bud in the side-yard.

During our time in Virginia we have grown to love the amazingly distinct seasons. It really seems as if we wake up one day and the next season has begun. Yesterday it felt like spring began. The sun was warming, the birds were singing and the signs of spring seemed to be all around. Last year spring came with great anticipation as I waited for the arrival of the baby. I couldn't wait!!

This year has been somewhat different, in that Spring has signified the end of an era for us...a very long era. We will no longer be students! While this is really good news, it is also a bit sad for us to leave behind such a wonderful and fun time of our lives. It also means that we will be leaving Virginia, which makes us both immensely sad. If only Virginia were a direct flight from SLC, if only we had some family close by, if only it rained a little more in Arizona....if only. And so, we will enjoy these last few weeks here in our first little house, gardening, site-seeing, and enjoying the last hurrah of student life and living in such a beautiful place. Soon we will exchange the beauty of the southeast for the beauty of the desert. So very different, but both wonderful in their own way. I'm sure we will be ready when the time comes, but in the mean time, we will enjoy this season of renewal for the last time as Virginians.
