Merry Christmas!!

We had a great Christmas at home this year. Somehow this picture is the only picture that I have of both children and the tree and that is semi-festive.

My parents and Dave drove down to spend Christmas with us which was so lucky and so fun. Savannah was in heaven and we were (as with all visitors) really sad to see them go. I really intended to take a lot of pictures but somehow I ended up with only a few random ones. Here they are:

Ahhh, nothing like hula hooping on Christmas Eve! We went to lunch with Gramps and Jeanne and the restaurant had a whole set of hula hoops. As always, my Mother can hula indefinitely. The rest of us...

Next we went to a really fun railroad park and rode the carousel and small train. Again, Christmas Eve.

Okay, I just found a few pictures of Christmas Eve on Trevor's camera!! Hooray!
Here is ALL I ever do these days, and one of Dave's favorite things to do these days (iPhone). And yes, I am wearing my sweats on Christmas Eve, and it was wonderful.

Dad read, "The Night Before Christmas" and that was all we had the energy to do. It was to bed with all of us! All that hula hooping really wore us out.
Christmas morning. Ahh, the favorite gifts all need to be used at once, of course. A backpack from G-ma and Papi, a furry vest from Grammy & Gramps, and of course a pink bike from Santa. Look at that disaster area!!! What fun Christmas is with children!!!
The best after-thought gift: the doctor kit. The baby LOVES to watch Savannah, so this situation works out quite well for everyone. Look at V's eyes. She loves it, but is a little scared too. Overall she is an excellent patient.

It wouldn't be Christmas

Great Gramps & Jean

came for a visit. Savannah called her "Jane" for a while and I had to correct her several times. (It's no surprise because she calls one of the neighborhood boys named "James," "Jane" as well. I think it stems from a deep love of Mary Poppins and Jane Banks. Any similar name just gets lumped together.) It didn't take long for Savannah to pass out all of the chocolates that they brought (one for you, two for me...) and then haul Gramps by the hand down the sidewalk on the way to Tia Rosa's for a little lunch. We had so much fun with them. Savannah loves them both. Can't wait to hear Gramps tell her the story of "Old Queen," a classic piece of Warner family folklore. She giggles every time she hears, "Mooooo, thank yoooooooooou." Somehow it never gets old for me either.

Mom & Dad-

Does this look familiar???
I really didn't prompt her to play a "violin." I did ask her to stop using a wise man from the nativity scene as the violin and suggested the ukulele.

Boat Parade

I LOVE parades. This one was really fun. The Tempe Lake Park boat parade. Every boat was completely COVERED in lights and other Christmas accessories. So festive and fun. S loved it, and the firework show that followed.

Cindy Lou Who??? I thought it was funny, she wasn't quite as impressed.

Getting Started

V is getting started on her talking. I usually NEVER catch these moments on camera, but I did today. She has been trying and trying to get some sound out for several days, but today she got the voice going. So cute, I want to eat her!!!

Temple Lights

The lights at the Mesa temple are really great. We headed down there last weekend to check them out and to let S burn off some steam by running around a little. It was a little cold--maybe in the high 40's or low 50's. S wore the sweater I knit for her. I like it.

S was looking out over a large field where they have displayed the three wise men leading their camels. The display is made out of lights so if you don't know the story well, they could be mistaken for something else.
S: "Look!!! A t-rex!!!"

holding hands--she loops her arm through his crutch.

I was there too. I always end up carrying both of our babies everywhere we go.

Love her

Conversation

Me: Savannah, it looks like Swiper the Fox has been here eating our candy canes off the advent calendar.
S: No, I swiped it!!

Thief. No shame. No ability to walk away from candy. She is so my child.

(see the missing number 20? This was at 9:00 this morning.)

Just took this one at 4:00. 4 more missing. She's sneaky too. Oh boy.
Sorry Mom, Dad, and Dave. Looks like there won't be any candy canes left when you get here.

hmm...

A little smile

I love that life's first milestone (according to me) is a smile. What a way to get started on life.

Stuck at home

At V's first office visit, our pediatrician recommended that we not leave the house AT ALL for 8 weeks. Supposedly any baby younger than 8 weeks who has a fever is automatically admitted to the hospital. Yikes!! He scared us enough that we really have stayed home and this is what we've been up to:

It RAINED a couple of days ago. Savannah saw it and RAN straight to her room to grab her umbrella which to this point, has only been used to protect her from the sun. It was exciting!
We decorated our annual gingerbread house. Most of the candy went right in her mouth.
We had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. (Not sure what T is doing here...)
Done LOTS of laundry. S insists on doing it herself.
Took the piggy to "the zoo"... several times.
And much, much more!
