I've Never...

had time to read as much as I have this year as I have nursed the baby.  (Funny, because if you asked me how much spare time I have right now I would laugh in your face!!)  I was not much of a reader in my growing-up years.  In fact, I don't think I EVER finished a single assigned book in school until half way through college.  (I am embarrassed by that.  But my teachers should be even more embarrassed that they were so easily duped!!)  I remember giving an oral book report in about 5th grade on a book I had not finished.  I got about two-thirds of the way through the story--only as far as I had read--and concluded my report by saying, "and if you want to know what happens, you'll just have to read the book to find out!"  Anyway, fast forward a couple of decades.  Since January I have read some new and re-read some old books that have enriched my life and reminded me what a dope I was for not learning to love reading when I was much much younger.  I'd recommend almost all of them.

1-2-3 Magic (a parenting book thriller!)
Born to Run
Saving Graces (the only one I would not recommend)
Crossing to Safety (maybe my all-time favorite book)
Cutting for Stone
Charms for the Easy Life
The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands (It really is a great book!)
I Capture the Castle
Seabiscuit (I cried, again.)
East of Eden
Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue Sea
To Kill a Mockingbird (I cried, again.)
Babywise II
Number the Stars
The Help
Memoirs of a Geisha

Next up:
Ex Libris
Two-Part Invention
Girl with a Pearl Earring
Cry, the Beloved Country

Can't wean the baby yet.  I'm having too much fun.

This is why...

Savannah will have short hair for the foreseeable future.  It looks like this EVERY MORNING of her life.  Makes me weary just looking at it.

Today I am Three

Got some new play food for the kitchen and fixed an over-easy egg on toast.
RECIPE:
Crack it,
into the pan,

let it cook for a minute,

flip it in the air,

catch it in pan (yes, she really did catch it!),

serve hot.

Then head to church.

Eat cake.

(Dear Cake Wrecks: I've got one for you...)

It was a fun birthday.

P.S. We are moving to Austin, TX next month.  Wahoo!  Won't you come visit???

A recent gem

Found this recently on YouTube.  We've enjoyed it several times.
