Winnie and Rush have a great dad, and today is his birthday! We are celebrating at home with dinner in...lasagna (half spinach, half chicken) and cookies & cream ice cream cake. Yummy! Andy, you are a great dad and husband. Winnie has the BEST time playing with you and laughing with you, and I can't wait to see Rush growing up with you as his example. Look out world! We are lucky to have you around:) Happy birthday!

Winifred INSISTED that Rush wear her pink owl Robeez today. It was on and off, but throughout the day, she would be trying to tug his little feet into her shoes. I would indulge her about every third time. Poor guy! I guess this is his life...being subject to his sister's whims. At least until he gets a little older.

Things have been pretty uneventful around here lately. We've not gone on many adventures (well, things like the grocery store have BECOME adventures) and no one is doing anything crazy. Rush is still sleeping a lot. He has gained a much-needed pound in this past week, so he's been a little more alert. As you can tell from the picture, he's not always happy when he's awake. No, really, he is just a little angel who causes us no worries. He only cries when he's hungry or really tired or when I'm trying to take a posed photo for his birth announcement. Winnie is adjusting to life with a little brother quite well. She is mourning the loss of her binky and bottle, so she tries to steal his whenever she can. Winnie does have a new love...cleaning. She wipes things down for me if I give her a wipe, and she has been "swiffering" our house for the past HOUR as I type this. I couldn't be prouder! We are trying out a bunch of new foods with her. Lately, she has loved brown rice, pumpkin, and watermelon. In the photo, she is enjoying a little pumpkin "pudding," a treat that she gets and loves! She has gotten very good at the use of the spoon. Well, that's an update for you. Hopefully I'll have some more exciting news to report on soon.

Winnie had a great night last night. We went back to Citygardens and had Imos for dinner. Two hits at the Murphy house. Andy carried Rush in the Baby Bjorn, so I was able to splash around with her. She was more outgoing this time than the last, seeming to love it when the water nailed her in the face. She also saw a horse for the first time, but kept calling it a dog, so I guess she just thought it was a really large dog.

While we were in the hospital, Winnie's Aunt and cousin came to watch her. They had some great adventures, thoroughly documented here. We just had a bunch of laughs looking at the all the photos and reading the details, and didn't want W's fans to miss out.

Swifferin' - What's Your Price For Flight?

Here is some video of Winnie, who has apparently gotten the clean gene from her Mom. As we mentioned in the last post, she did this for over an hour last night!
What's Going On

More Citygarden Fun
Saturday, July 11, 2009Googie and Pawpaw
Wednesday, July 8, 2009My parents came in for four days and just left this morning. We had a great time with them here. It was especially good for Winnie, who enjoyed the undivided attention they gave her. (I enjoyed having four extra hands around here...Dad is so helpful with Puddy and holding Rush and Mom was a great chef/cleaner while they were here and can make Winnie laugh hysterically) We ate out a few times and took Winnie to play at the Citygarden. We did a little shopping and they took her to Lafayette Park last night. My dad even replanted some of my flowers that didn't survive the construction/new baby time that has been our last month. They brought Winnie a Tickle-Me Elmo. She has been into Elmo lately, for no explainable reason. She had never seen a second of Sesame Street when she became obsessed with him. Now we watch Sesame Street. And WonderPets (our favorite). Anyways, I didn't get as many pictures as I would like (none of my Mom!), it was a great few days, and we were sad to see them go back to Arkansas.
At Citygarden playing in the spray plaza. Winnie had the BEST time there.
Notice my poor Dad in the background having to tote my bag. What a trooper!
Winifred completely relaxed at lunch at The Sidebar with Pawpaw.

My Boys
Thursday, July 2, 2009Not only is Winnie an amazing big sister, but Puddy is such a good boy (again) with the new baby. He seems to think "oh, just another baby" with Rush. Although he doesn't get as much exercise as he did a couple weeks ago, I think Puddy is enjoying all of this lazy time with Rush. He always needs to be on guard with Winnie around. She likes to pounce and love on him. These two looked like little twins last night in the bed.
Cabin Fever!
Although it is great to spend time all together as a family, there is something to be said for the wide open world out there. So we went out to lunch and to the park. Lunch was a bust and took forever, but the park was a huge hit as always. Maybe Winnie only seems older by contrast to Rush, but she seemed ready for the big time. So while Mom wasn't looking, Dad put her on the teeter-totter and we rocked it out!
