Yesterday we got to experience once again the season of harvest right out our back door! What a great sight it is!! I am not sure why, but I always look forward to the harvest season. I wonder if it is because all around us there is SO MUCH FOOD? We are so deeply blessed in this part of the country. We have had great weather this year and from my VERY LIMITED knowledge, it looks like a good yield. As our family was out gleaning the field yesterday I had a couple of minutes where it was hard to take in the sight. My mind raced right over to my little girls and
their country. Oh, if only.......if only it were
possible to send all of the "left over" potatoes to Haiti! I don't care how long it would have taken, if it were
possible to ship the potatoes to Haiti I would have stayed out as long as I could and gathered up EVERY LAST POTATO so those children in that country wouldn't have to eat dirt pies!! We gathered up enough for 4 families to last us through the winter and stored them down in the old well at grandmas house. Every year we have to pull back out all of the potatoes we just didn't get to. Just in the one field behind our house there were
millions of potatoes that were left there on the ground. This morning they are no longer any good. They will be tilled back into the ground.
If only.........

You never know "who" else will be out gleaning the fields.......(this mouse is up on it's hind end trying to scare me away)
eeekkkk!

Carson and his friend Lance. Look at those beautiful potatoes!!

You don't get this size of potatoes in the store without paying quite a price for them. For
having a spud field right out our back door.....free.
