"Spud Harvest"

Yesterday we got to experience once again the season of harvest right out our back door! What a great sight it is!! I am not sure why, but I always look forward to the harvest season. I wonder if it is because all around us there is SO MUCH FOOD? We are so deeply blessed in this part of the country. We have had great weather this year and from my VERY LIMITED knowledge, it looks like a good yield. As our family was out gleaning the field yesterday I had a couple of minutes where it was hard to take in the sight. My mind raced right over to my little girls and their country. Oh, if only.......if only it were possible to send all of the "left over" potatoes to Haiti! I don't care how long it would have taken, if it were possible to ship the potatoes to Haiti I would have stayed out as long as I could and gathered up EVERY LAST POTATO so those children in that country wouldn't have to eat dirt pies!! We gathered up enough for 4 families to last us through the winter and stored them down in the old well at grandmas house. Every year we have to pull back out all of the potatoes we just didn't get to. Just in the one field behind our house there were millions of potatoes that were left there on the ground. This morning they are no longer any good. They will be tilled back into the ground.
If only.........

You never know "who" else will be out gleaning the fields.......(this mouse is up on it's hind end trying to scare me away) eeekkkk!

Carson and his friend Lance. Look at those beautiful potatoes!!

You don't get this size of potatoes in the store without paying quite a price for them. For having a spud field right out our back door.....free.

How old is he.........2 ???

Welcome to my life with a two year old named Travis!!!! Ken didn't know I was videoing this. He is so patient. I on the other hand was laughing!!

The "before"

Here are the before (the pro's come in) pictures of the girls room. I will post the after on thursday when they are finished. They do really cute paintings on the walls. Hope to see daisies!

Getting started!!

Ok now is the time I have been waiting for. It is time to get my baby girls room done! How do you decorate for a girl???? I have been so frustrated and do not have a CLUE so I took the easy way out.......I have hired someone to come in and decorate for me. They are coming on Thursday and I am so excited. I have tried to do some things myself...exhibit A (bellow). I have done a couple other things but just could not put it all together. I figure I have waited SO LONG for this and I want it to be perfect. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Happy Birthday Grandma & Grandpa Woods!!

CARSON

Carson's team has been so fun to watch this year. He is a great player!! I have been told that this team has NEVER won a game since they were 5th graders! This year they have won 2 and lost 2. They practice so hard and have GREAT coaches this year. He is really enjoying himself except when the other team "trash talks". Carson is very offended by that. YEA!!!!!!!!

With spud harvest the next two weeks, guess what Carson is doing? They don't ever get to play during the week, (mean mom) and their weekends are full of other stuff,(yea). Guess I can let up a little right?

Woods family "reunion" 2009

Even though we all live close by each other we still have a reunion at Wild Horse campground every year. It was a lot of fun as usual. The boys enjoy fishing, hiking, 4 wheeling, and singing around the campfire...just kidding, they HATE to sing. I think the favorite thing of course is ALWAYS the eating!!
Here is Jaren with one of the fish he caught, cooked, and ate.
Moose are always fun to see at a distance of course.

"THE ROCK" This is where we take the "reunion photo" each year.

Making sure he isn't left behind. Boomer had a good time running around and licking everyone. UURRRR I have got to break him of that!!!

Woods family "reunion" cont....

I am guessing THIS is what it is all about. This is Madison and Hannah. (Tod & Matt's little girls)
I don't think anyone enjoyed the weekend more.........

I LOVE this picture. Madison and her mom, Brenda.

At the Chukers game

We got to be part of an elite group for the night. Ken's work gave us some tickets to a Chukers baseball game. We got to sit in our own section with a room if we wanted to sit there and they fed us. We stuffed ourselves with hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs, fajitas, popcorn, beans, potato salad, and all of the soda you could drink. Jaren brought a date and some other friends. It was a really fun night!! Oh yea, the Chukers won too.

Life in the Country

I just love it when the move the cattle. These are the times I LOVE living where I do. You don't see this in the city.

Oh What Does Travis Do In the Summertime?

Here are a few pictures of my boys from this summer. Just some cute pictures I couldn't pass up. Travis with a bookcover on his head. It doesn't look like it but he did have fun wearing it.
What a beautiful boy!

Travis is a really good swimmer. He swims under water and is not afraid of the water.

Travis LOVES to jump on the Trampoline! He would do it all day if someone was out there to jump with him.

Trav and his dad. They do this every night.

Oh What Does Jaren Do In the Summertime?

Jaren, finished with moving pipe. I added these next couple of pictures because these are Jaren's FAVORITE things to do in the summertime, actually all the time. Ha...Ha...Ha

This one I am going to use when he is about to get married to show his new bride that he really DOES know how to work a broom! :~))

Time to relax.

Oh What Does Carson Do In the Summertime?

Here is Carson in his pipemoving attire. Isn't he cute?
Carson is getting ready to start football this year. He is really good. I can't wait to see all of his games. Carson loves swimming too and is a wonderful swimer. He also loves to go boating and tubing.

UUUMMMM? What are you doing Carson? Always our joker.
