Hello!
What fun we've had since our last post...
* Gandpa, Grammy, Aunt Lindzy, and Uncle Joren came to visit!
Isaac loved being surrounded by so much laughter and cuddles. We all went to Edinbourgh for a couple nights and enjoyed exploring the castle, strolling the Royal Mile, and tasting Scottish delicacies like Haggis, Iron Bru, and Whiskey.
*Playdates for Isaac
We have a couple friends here with babies around Isaac's age and we've been having fun getting together every week or so and watching the kiddos interact. Currently the interaction involves intense stares, lots of drool, and inquisitive "coos"...and napping!
*Dinnertime!
One of our new(ish) goals is to have people over for dinner at least once a week. It's been a really fun way to get to know Aaron's co-workers better and next we hope to work on inviting people from our street over.
*Knaresborough Bed Race
A nearby town holds a yearly race that we found out about last minute and were able to see. It started years ago with teams racing through town carrying a team member on a hospital bed and has morphed into quite the specatcle. Now there is a theme each year (this year was English History) and the beds (really just metal frames) are decorated for a huge parade and then stripped down to the bare frame for the race. We got to see both the parade and the race...and enjoy yummy fish and chips too!
*MacBeth at Ripley Castle
This is probably my favorite thing we've experienced so far since living here. We went to an outdoor performance of MacBeth at the nearby Ripley castle and it was fabulous! There was a good size group of us shakespearing it up and we enjoyed a yummy picnic before the show complete with local cheeses, wines, and lots of laughs. The show itself was very well done but my favorite bit about it was that the scenes were set in different places throughout the castle gardens so the audience would get up and move from scene to scene. It sounds bizarre but made it so fun! Isaac did brilliantly and just got a touch fussy near the end as it was way past his bedtime. At the end of the famous "Out damn spot" soliloquy the creepy Lady MacBeth let out a yell and poor scared Isaac yelled too! The audience chuckled.
So that's a brief run down of what we've been up to.
How about you?
