Robin Hood's Bay

Last night Aaron asked what I wanted to do this weekend and I replied "something out of the house...and I'm kinda feeling fish and chips..."

So Saturday morning we packed up and drove to the coast...
and we had a perfect day at Robin Hood's Bay.

The hill into the historical town was really steep!

The tide was out and, after eating our fill of crispy fish and malt vinegar soaked chips, we enjoyed the sun while exploring the shore.

We drove through some rainy patches so we were thrilled to see sunny blue skies!

What a beautiful drive home!

Last Weekend

Last weekend we had our first visitors of 2012!
One of my childhood church friends, Amy, has an internship in London this month and she and her school friend Bethany decided to train on up for a weekend at the Pipkin B+B smack in the heart of Yorkshire.
It was really fun to re-connect and show them a few of our favorite places...

Inside the York Minster

It gets dark around 4:30 these days

York has a giant ferris wheel now - it's supposedly here for a year

Enjoying lunch at Betty's after church

Thanks for coming to visit!

A Happy Thought

I'm up to September in my "One Year Bible" and yesterday started reading Song of Solomon. This has been one of my favorite books since I went through Mike Bickle's study...I can't recommend it highly enough.
What a joy to go through such a beautifully intimate, fulfilling book and see how it's a story about a Lover and Beloved, yes, but also the story of Christ and his people - both individually and corporately as the church.
How's that for a reminder of our worth?!

Anyways, as I nestled into the pillows on our futon and cupped my mug of chai, this is what I read,
"This is Solomon's song of songs, more wonderful than any other." SoS 1:1.
I stopped and pondered...how amazing is it that the most wonderful of songs is not a battle cry, a boasting of power or wealth, or even a song of victory...but a love song?!

And then this verse popped into my mind...

The LORD your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17

And I thought of Christ.

Jesus is the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings...and He is the ultimate Song of Songs that God sings over us! I love the picture of our Creator God, our Holy, Just, Warrior God singing over each of His beloved children
"Jesus, Jesus, Jesus"

Every ounce of passion and love contained in Solomon's song is but a glimmer of the love and passion in God's most wonderful of songs
"Jesus, Jesus, Jesus"

And He sings it over you.

My Men

These are my absolute favorite men in the whole world.

They work hard.

They play hard.

They like to try new things.

What more could a girl ask for?
