Going Home

Ezri and I spent one night in hospital
and the next day two very excited
big brothers
got to come meet their baby sister

they were so gentle
and eager to kiss her
and stroke her
and hold her

and then our whole family of 5 (!)
got to go home

It's A Girl!

One week ago, at this very moment,
my epidural had just kicked in
and Aaron had just arrived at the hospital
(after leaving the boys with a friend)
and I was happier than I had been the past two hours

but that didn't last long and labor continued
as labor does
and by 5 pm I was decidedly unhappy

at 5:29
after 4 pushes
a baby was held up and we yelled
"it's a GIRL!"

and that's how we met our daughter
Ezri Elizabeth
(all 8lb 3oz of her)

we are quite in love

Faith Like a Child

After tidying up downstairs
and heading upstairs for pjs
and toothpaste devouring
(I mean teeth brushing)

and stories about trucks
while snuggling on a toddler bed
we get up to sing a song
like we usually do

tonight we sang
"jump, jump, jump into the light, light, light
run, run, run away from what's not right
jump, jump, jump out of the dark, dark, dark
run to Jesus and give Him your heart"

and Isaac stopped and questioned
"how do you do that?"

and I feebly explained that giving Jesus your heart
meant telling God you know you are a sinner
and that you need Jesus to save you
and asking Him to live in your heart
to be your Boss and Best Friend

and I asked if he wanted to do that
Isaac looked at me solemnly
then smiled and said
"yes!"

so he did

and after we prayed together
and I said "amen"
Isaac added
"and thank you God for being the King.  Amen"

and then looked at me with the biggest grin

it was a beautiful, life-giving evening
and we praise God for His everlasting faithfulness!
