Isaac Gems

Me:  Isaac, what are you drawing?
Isaac:  It's something familiar...long pause...it's a rainbow.

We were on a walk and Benji picked up a pinecone.  Isaac asked about it.
Me:  Well, do you see this tree?  Some trees grow apples, some grow bananas, and some grow pinecones...I ramble on a little while longer...
Isaac:  *blink* Wow, that was specific!

Me:  Isaac, why are you in the corner?
Isaac:  Because I knocked down Benji's tower.
Me:  Yup.  Why did you do that?
Isaac:  Because it was so attractive!

About halfway through our week of Vacation Bible School I came downstairs to find this boy playing VBS with his cars.  They are all lined up in front of the "leaders" on the car carrier and ready to sing!

Tour de France - Stage 2

Remember all those crazy crowds
and helmet blurs
of our first day at the Tour?

well the second day was totally different

Stage 2 did not end it Harrogate
it just zipped by
literally 4 blocks from our house

so before breakfast Aaron and Grandawg
set out some chairs and a blanket to stake out our viewing spot
and after breakfast we meandered over to wait

two hours of waiting
for two minutes of glory
but we actually got to see the bikers
so it was worth it

Tour de France - Stage 1

It was very kind of the Tour de France and Yorkshire
to conspire to throw Ezri the best baby shower ever:
The Grand Depart 2014!

Friday sprinkled and we felt so bad for all the organizers, riders,
and makers of festive bunting
but thankfully Saturday was sunny
(perhaps too sunny as our arms and faces turned quite pink)

The day was long
(warning - lots of pics follow!)
but oh so very festive and fun

So, without much ado...
may we present
STAGE 1

we stopped some well dressed businessmen on their way to work
to snap this pic of us in front of a grocery store in town

funny faces!

Harrogate was dressed up in it's tour finest - we were so proud of our town

Ezri rocking her yellow bow

the morning started with a movie in the park
they showed "Room on the Broom"
which is one of the boys most requested stories
and the cartoon was delightful

the balloons were a hit too

it wasn't sunny when we left the house but by the end of the movie
we were all wondering why we didn't think to bring
sunglasses or sunscreen
(see all the raincoats on the stroller - yeah, didn't need those!)

after the movie we made our way to the Fan Park at the stray
(they showed it every once in awhile during the race - perhaps you saw us?!)

we watched Will and Kate officially start the race from Harewood House
on those big screens behind us

we picnicked

and got geared up

it was fun to see how many people cycled to the race

see that black blur by the pole?
it's a biker - they were speedy!

the boys loved playing with friends (and water guns!) while we waited

one of Aaron's coworkers lives in this house
and it was the perfect spot to watch the race from -
right at the 1km mark and it had a shady fenced in yard for the kiddos!

wasn't Cav's crash sad?!

we practiced our french on the roadies as they dismantled the signs

see the finish line in the background?

the aftermath:

walking home was nice
the crowds seemed to disperse quickly

we were so glad we didn't have to wait in this line for the trains!

whew - Stage 1 completed!
