There are so many blogs out there for coupons, deals, freebies, crafts, recipes, etc. But I wanted a place that I could go to collect my own interests and reminders about free things, or great crafts. I also need a place to post cute ideas and a collection of ideas for a future home. This is a collection of the things I find...and I'm always looking for new ideas!

Easy Quiet Book

Have you seen Crayola's dry erase CRAYONS? They are pretty cool and on I Am Momma I found a pretty cute, easy, cool quiet book for Sunday church. All you need is some sheet protectors, dry erase crayons, and old Friend Magazines or printables from the church website. Do you see where this is going? Basically, slid them into the sheet protectors and WA-LA a quiet book that is church appropriate! I need to get started...

Baby Booties gone modern

I saw these a while back, and I fell in {LOVE} with them. I sent the pattern to my amazing aunt and she made an adorable pair for Abigaile. (thanks Carolyn)

Sorry there is only one shoe, my other children wanted to play with the shoes

Here is the link from Little Eme with a pattern and tutorial {SO CUTE}

Spring Outfits

I finally finished my kids Spring outfits. I wanted my son and two daughters to "match" but I wasn't sure how to do that. After searching, looking, picking, trying, unpicking, redoing and staring I came up with this...

It isn't perfect, but I like that all the fabric is a "family" and my son's shirt isn't too girly {my husbands concern} I found the tie tutorial at Crap I've Made and the fabric at Hobby Lobby {love you}

St. Patrick's Pops

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • ½ cup frozen petite green peas
  • Scant ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp peppermint extract
  • Scant ¼ cup semisweet mini chocolate chips
  • 6 Popsicle sticks or wooden craft sticks
Place the cream cheese, peas, and sugar in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 20-second intervals until the cheese is softened to room temperature.

Using a stick blender or standing blender, purée the ingredients into a smooth paste. Add the extract and mix again, scraping the bowl frequently. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand.

Place the mixture in a large zip-top bag and cut about ½ inch off of a bottom corner. Squeeze into a clean ice cube tray or mini muffin tin, place 1 popsicle stick in each, and freeze until solid, about 1 hour.

Once the pops are frozen, remove them from the molds by twisting just like ice cubes and seal in an airtight container for up to 1 month.

Fabric Checkbook Cover

I saw this idea on Diary of a Crafty Lady and I immediately feel in love! Now this is something that I can do in one night, use scrap fabric and it isn't very hard. You can find the tutorial here!

I did it slightly different by covering my existing check book. So instead of doing interfacing, I will just slip it over my boring black check book. I did however sew the plastic flap to the inside of the cover for my duplicate checks. I think it turned out pretty cute! But I'm not sure I'll be seeing my husband walking around with it.

Awww Chocolate Chip Cookies

Just looking at these cookies I have to wipe the drool off my face. I can't wait to try them out, I have been promised not to be disappointed. awwwww

Ingredients:
2 sticks cold and cubed unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon table salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 1/2 cups chocolate chips or chunks

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Straight out of the oven. These cookies rise up so big!
1. In bowl of electric mixer fitted with paddle, cream together butter and sugars until well blended and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, mix in vanilla and beat until well incorporated.
2. Add flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and mix until just combined. Gently fold in chocolate chips/chunks and nuts. I ended up using a combination of mini chocolate chips and regular chocolate chips because I had some bags left over from Christmas baking and I needed to use them. Worked great!
3. Transfer dough to clean work surface and gently mix dough by hand to ensure even distribution of ingredients.
4. Scoop dough (about a tablespoon each) onto cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. I used one of those spring release cookie scoopers - makes it so much easier. Also, in between batches I would keep the bowl of dough in the fridge to keep cool.
5. Bake in the preheated oven about10-12 minutes, depending on how gooey and rawish you like the interior, until very lightly browned, taking care not to overbake. I had my rack in the middle part of my oven and it took about 11 minutes. Only bake one sheet pan at a time.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you The Country Cook!

Quiet Book

I started a quiet book for Jack when he was about 15 months old...now he is 3 and I still haven't finished it. So after finding this great post, it has inspired me to get my behind moving and finish what I started!

Thank you Diary of a Crafty Lady for getting me motivated again!
