4 years ago today....

4 years ago today we laid eyes on this sweet 2.5 week old for the first time.....

Today this sweet angel is a vibrant 4 years old. He is a happy little boy who is loved very much by his Eagle Nest family. If he can't be with us, I am thankful he is with people who care for and love him.

I do not understand God's plan, BUT I know His plans are GOOD. He has a perfect plan for Nathan and I look forward to seeing how God uses his precious child.

We continue to pray for answers and direction in our case.....

I can't believe this sweet child is turning 4 years old today. I am kind of at a loss for words. never dreamed Nathan would be where he is today. Praying God gives him a great day celebrating his precious life.

Happy Birthday sweet Colocho. We love you from afar and hope we see you again soon. We WILL see you again....

He is good and loves my little elephant....

some of you may think this is cruel, but i think it is awesome! but i am a bama fan! roll tide!!
Is he not the cutest elephant you have ever seen?!!?!?!? He could make any outfit cute through. He is just that gorgeous!

No news on his case. Frustrating? You would not believe. When you start an adoption 4 1/2 years ago you would think there would be some end it sight, no matter the outcome. No, nothing. Frustrated does not even describe it. Your life is just on hold. No one can even understand how we feel so I will not even try to describe.

During the past 8 years God has taught me that he is good....ALL THE TIME.

He was good when  we got married on May 18th, 2002.
He was good when we had a miscarriage in July 2005.
He was good when our marriage grew stronger despite all our infertility.
He was good when no infertility treatments worked.
He was good when we started to grow our family by adoption and we started our process to Guatemala.(James 1:27)
He was good when a little boy named Mauro was born on March 21, 2007 in Guatemala and we received his referral 3 months later only for his birth mother to come back to get him from the orphanage to take him back home.
He was good when Jose Pablo(Nathan) was born on June 24, 2007.(James 1:17)
He was good when we first saw Jose Pablo's(Nathan) face on July 13, 2007.
He was good when he allowed us to visit Nathan's when he was 4 1/2 months old and spend a week with him in Guatemala and take care of him when he was sick and see him cut his first two teeth.
He was good at every bump in the road in our case.
He was good when the Guatemala adoptions shut down and our case got grandfathered in December 2007.
He was good when everything seem to go wrong with our case.
He was good when we got to go back to Guatemala and spend another week with Nathan when he was 10 1/2 months old and celebrate an early birthday with him and see him eat his first cupcake.
He is good when Nathan's birth mother could not be located for the second required birth mother interview.
He is good when our case has pretty much not moved in 2-3 years.
He is good cause he has created a little boy in His image that is being cared and loved for by special people that love the Lord.
He is good because he has given us Cooper when we were never expecting to do a domestic adoption.  (John 14:18, James 1:17)
He is good because he loves us and chose us for this journey.
He is good. He is God and everything works for His glory.
He is good while we wait all these years for answers for our case.
He is good while Nathan is growing up in an orphanage with no parents.
He is good because Nathan is first loved by God and so many caretakers.
He is good..........

Apart from God there is no good. We are evil without him. We do not praise him just because he answers our prayers the way we think he should. What happens when he does not answer our prayers? Do we say "God is good" then? If he is good ALL the time then we should. Actually while we are waiting we should say he is good. We praise him ALL the time because he is God and he is good.

"I want you to know, brothers, that what happened to me has really served to advance the gospel," Phillippians 1:12

I say to the Lord "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you." Psalm16:2

Praying God will open doors in Nathan's case. We have had no movement in our case in a little over 2 years. God is in control.....

big boy....

Nathan recently had his first experience at a barber shop. The nannies are very protective of his hair. They call him "Colocho" meaning 'curly'. Even though he really does not have much curl to his hair anymore, they seem to still be particular with him. The missionary took all the boys to get hair cuts and Nathan, "Colocho", got to go. He was very excited and felt special.

such a boy... loves the bugs:)

where did my baby go??? He is such a handsome little guy!!! Oh, how my heart misses him!

sweet nathan...

this boy just can't get any cuter! he has the brightest, sweetest face!

There is not much to report about our case. There is not movement. Nothing. Still waiting. I hate waiting. I can't say much more about that....

Nathan is doing well. He is in good health and so well loved and cared for! I am so very thankful for that!! He is going to start preschool at the first of the year. He weighs 48 lbs and is 40 inches tall now. It is so hard to wrap my mind around how big he is now. The last time I held him he was so tiny compared to his size now. He is almost to big to hold and carry. That makes me sad.

From what is told to us and what we see on his precious face, Nathan seems to have a sweet spirit about him. Below is what the latest report said about Nathan:

Jose Pablo “Colocho” is turning into a sweet little boy.
He would rather sit and read than to get up and run outside. He loves to go on long walks though. He loves the pool and is sweet and loving to everyone. He loves to talk as well and points out everything he sees.

As Casey and I read this separately and talk about it later, we both said this reminded us of my little brother Conner when he was younger. Nathan has always reminded me of him.

We continue to pray for this child. It may not be legal (yet), but he will always be our son in our hearts. We continue to pray and ask God to move mountains....

thank you for praying for our son and our family.... it is so obvious when Cooper is playing with older children that he was created to be the little brother.
