MEET BOARD CHAIR DR. JOSEPH SAKRAN

Dr. Sakran Is the only physician and gun violence survivor to chair a major gun violence prevention organization. He was 17 years old when he was shot in the neck after a high school football game. The medical professionals who saved his life inspired him to become a trauma surgeon and dedicate himself to reducing gun violence. As head of emergency surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the worst part of his job is losing a patient to gun violence and having to deliver the tragic news to their family. Brady’s life-saving work is the antidote that spares these conversations.
