First Family Vacation Part II

The drive to Tybee Island took us through some old, historic homes.  Loved them!

Our first sight of water in one of the inlets.

The sunset on our first night.  We got to enjoy a dolphin show which the boys LOVED. We went out to the water and the boys got to see dolphins jumping out of the water.  It was pretty incredible.

We had a boardwalk straight to the beach.  The kids would run down it as fast they could and give their me a heart attack.  Below the boardwalk was a 4-5 foot drop and they would easily fall off the side.
I don't know if these kiddos have ever had so much fun!

Eric swimming with all three kids.  They loved it! They were able to see fish and crabs in the water.  I was on jellyfish duty and had to go picking them up off the beach before anyone stepped on them.

Right after I took this picture, the tide went out really fast and then a huge wave came in.  It pushed Eric and the boys in to the beach and I had just enough time to pick up Elina.  It pushed all our beach gear up to the boardwalk...it was pretty scary!  We had to work on the getting the boys to go back out into the water because they kept thinking a big wave was going to come in again.

We loved it!

First Family Vacation Part I

We went on our first family vacation to Tybee Island, GA, a couple weeks ago. We had such a blast!  The kids are at an age now where they are more independent, can help us (a little), and the day isn't totally ruined if a nap is skipped. Oh, and since Elina is the only one who needs to sleep in a pack n play, the amount we need to pack is so much less than it used to be! We'd been wanting to take the kids to the beach for awhile and am so glad we were finally able to do it.

On our way to Savannah, we stopped in Statesboro for Steak and Shake. The kids got a milkshake and it made Elina freeze.  The picture above is her in mid shiver.

Daddy warming up her hands.

The boys thought the hats were pretty cool.

At the beach house, the living room looked out to the ocean.  Oh, and there was DirecTV so there was the Sprout channel.  Brandt and Elina would sit in the rocking chairs and watch boats in the ocean and Sprout on tv.

Nothing beats an Arizona sunset, but this is pretty close!

The next day, we decided to venture into Savannah and see if we'd be able to eat at Lady and Sons, Paula Dean's restaurant.  You check in with the hostess who is on the street and she lets you know how long the wait is or which floor to go to be seated. We were seated right away!

Mulling over the menu.  When we were seated they brought out these pancake things (not quite like pancakes as they were fried) that you eat with syrup.  They were good but really greasy!

We ended up getting the buffet.  Eric had heard good things about it, plus the kids ate free! So that's what we did.  I do wish I'd been able to try fried green tomatoes, though. Carter enjoyed working on his knife skills.

I got fried chicken, mac n cheese, green beans, lima beans, collard greens, mashed potatoes and gravy, meatloaf, and some sort of rice and sweet corn thing. For dessert, the kids got her banana pie and Eric and I got some sort of triple chocolate cake thing that was phenomenal!

Silly guy!

She likes it!

The next day we ate at a local seafood place on Tybee Island.  The seafood was so fresh and great!

our perfect kiddos

The boys liked to get up and go outside to watch the big cargo ships that went by.  Every time one would go by, we'd hear, "There's a BIG BOAT!!"  They loved it!

Morning coppee (milk with creamer and a small drop of coffee)

swimming with Daddy in the ocean.

We love the beach!

We went to the Crab Shack where there were live gators

There they are!

We had such a great time!

First Day of 3K Preschool

The boys started 3K preschool at First Baptist Church of Augusta.  The boys were in FBC's Mother's Day Out program last year and we were thrilled to be able to get priority enrollment for the 3K program.  It is the best program in town and one of the only ones with an accredited 3K curriculum. Although it was a big mental difference for me to send the boys to school, they didn't even know the difference.  For the first few weeks, they kept referring to it as Mother's Day Out instead of preschool.  They go to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays for four hours a day. We are so thrilled they can go to such a great, Christian program. They love (and we really love) their teacher, Mrs. Head.  She is just wonderful!

Going to meet the teacher the day before the first day of school

Meeting new friends

Picture time before their first day! Trying to get the boys to stand still and hold a sign was a little difficult.

Yeah, he's kinda cute!

Look at my babies!  So big and going to school!

Carter was working on his puzzle before he left.  So handsome!

Me and my precious boys

Look who snuck into this picture!

The boys get to walk to class by themselves.  Such big boys!

I was such a nervous wreck of a mama that I parked the car after going through the car line and followed the boys into school to make sure they got to class.  They did great.  No need to worry!
