A Mileston...a Huge one!

I posted a few posts back about K joining the Army.  Well last week on Thursday she officially graduated from High School.  She graduated a semester early and is working hard on getting in to basic training in the winter instead of the summer.  She was all set to graduate but the only thing holding her back was her math grade.  She needed a D to pass and graduate and had a stinking 58%.  Her teacher was giving her such grief you would have thought she was trying to become president or something.  Finally Thursday after several emails back and forth to her guidance counselor she left me a voice mail letting me know Kelsey had passed and was graduated.  I knew Kelsey was anxious about the whole thing so I texted her right away and told her the news.  It was so cute because she was in the middle of a different final and was done with the test but couldn't talk because others were still testing.  She said she wanted to scream but couldn't.  ...

FINALLY

Soooo we moved into our farmhouse on Monday!  A day that honestly I never thought would actually get here.  It's been a crazy whirlwind and we have mostly loved it...here's the lowdown: We packed up our truck on Saturday and had everything packed.  Sunday we spent cleaning our house for the new owners.  I scrubbed and cleaned and worked my booty off all the while taking care of a sick kiddo running a fever and being very naughty and clingy.  Monday rolled around and we loaded the rest of our personal toiletries mopped the floors one last time and said goodbye to our Bloomington house.  Now...it should have all been cake from there on out right???  Nope.  The buyers had their final walk through at 8:am and the closing was at 9:am.  We were on time for our closing and waited and waited.  The buyers were about 15 minutes late.  They finally came and sat down and the man was very short and rude with us but the woman was friendly ...
Today we went to our new ward.  We still have one more week in our current ward but we just wanted to check it out, get our faces known, and possibly drum up some help to unload a moving truck in a couple weeks. Can I just say it was amazing!  We've been to this ward before when Chris was on the High Council so there were a few familiar faces.  That wasn't the amazing part... For the last 2 1/2 years Chris has struggled going to church.  The first year was due to the fact that he was in the hospital and fighting for his life and was unable to physically attend.  Frankly the whole family struggled that year and we stayed home for months because it was too painful to go.  The last year and a half Chris has struggled due to anxiety and panic about church.  He still has a testimony and loves the Gospel, he helps get the kids ready for church and attends when he can but for the most part I'm a single mom when it comes to church attendance.  He cann...

Bought the Farm...I don't think that means what you think it means!

Our house FINALLY sold!  We are so excited.  Finally we are able to buy the home of our dreams...oh wait...that house sold 2 weeks ago but they didn't put a "sold" or "pending" sign on it because they are jerks, or at least that's what we think.  So instead of buying the farm of our dreams we are looking for a second farm of our dreams.  Today we spent 4 plus hours driving around the small towns around our area looking at houses.  We have a couple contenders.  One is a beautiful piece of land with a cute house that is tiny as heck!  We are talking 1200 sq ft and that's pushing it.  The other home has beautiful land and a huge beautiful house that is old and sold AS IS and may or may not need a new well and septic system.  Both of which if they are bad will need to be replaced before we can close on the house and they will be at our expense.  This process is almost as stressful as selling our current home.  We will find the house tha...

Sometimes life changes and we are all trying to catch up

From day one I could tell there was something different about L...he is my 4th child and right from the start I could tell.  I didn't know I could tell.  I knew he was different from my other kids but I didn't have a clue as to why, or what our future would bring. L was my most sweet baby.  All babies are sweet you say, all babies are different.  I know all babies are sweet but I mean this baby was SWEET.  He slept through the night almost from day one, to a mom 6 hours is like an eternity so I'm calling it through the night.  He rarely cried.  When he did and all the normal boxes were checked, feeding, changing, hot/cold, he just wanted to be left alone.  He would lay for hours on the floor on a blanket and watch life happen.  Then he would just fall asleep and take a nap and it was wonderful.  Being a mom of many kiddos it was like this baby was sent to me on purpose to make it easy.  Usually I have a baby and think "I'm not eve...

They don't see our story

We are STILL trying to sell our home.  It's been a roller coaster to say the least.  We had it up for sale in the winter and had barely anyone look at it.  6 months of disappointment.  This time around we have a new realtor and things are looking more positive.  We had a realtor open house the first week and got some pretty harsh feedback.  We had since tackled all of the things on the list and knocked them out.  What is surprising to me is the things that people find fault in.  Things that we live with every day and are no big deal to us are HUGE deals to others... Messy paint on the ceiling...we see a project done ourselves that the whole family worked on and we taught the kids to paint a room and some got on the ceiling.  A fun family project, or some service done by young missionaries when we needed help the most. Unkept yard...we see 2 years of health issues, and anxiety in our family and taking care of what was more important than ...

Our 68 Whiskey

All the fretting and studying and worrying and starving paid off!  K scored an excellent score on her ASVAB, better than most people!  She was able to pic the MOS (job) that she wanted and is happily enlisted in the US Army as a 68W (combat medic).  She has a ship out date of June 21 2017 but when she gets her diploma in her hot little hand in December she will renegotiate her contract and try and leave earlier.  This is a huge sigh of relief for her and a bit of a sigh of anxiety for her momma!  That's ok she is following her dream and doing what she will love.  I have faith that she will succeed!  Love that girl of mine.
