i wanna watch movies!

it's the last day of the holidays, and i just realised that i barely watched any movies this whole 3 months!

which is kinda weird.

watch movies as in go to cinema and pay at least 8 bucks to watch a 2-hour show. and not watch movies as in watch it on the plane to melbourne. or on your laptop. or on tv. but really watch movie watch movie.

ok im not speaking english. it's okay if u din understand all that. neither did i. heh.

i only watched guess who w fad in early may. and batman begins with my brothers. booooo. so many movies that i wanted to watch but i just din have the time. anyone wanna lend me vcds/dvds/sponsored movie tickets?

shows that I really wanna watch but haven got the chance to do so..

i think i missed a lot more these 3 months. and now its back to sch n aiesec. *oh yes i finally got my name cards! how cool is that?!?!*

i cant wait for next weekend!!! my cousin's wedding in KL. yep. the GRAND one!! so so exciting. i feel like it's prom all over again. haha. okla not so much. but get to dress up~* so fun.. hehe. and the heels that i bought last week, so totally match whatever im wearing. wheeeeeeeee~* something to look forward to.. =)

last day at work

today's my last day at work. i feel truly grateful to have had this opportunity. to sneak a peek into the working world, albeit only for a short ten weeks. (it's been ten weeks? so fast!) i feel blessed to have learnt many many things. whether directly or indirectly related to my course of study and future career path. i now have a clearer idea of what goes on in the finance department of an organization. of the interaction between employees and bosses. between employee and other employees. the camaraderie you achieve from working together every single day. true, the friendship can never be like the ones u made back in secondary school. but it is special in its own way. =)

note: i've always thought that relationships (professional not emotional) with bosses have to be awkward. but this ten weeks have certainly opened my eyes and now i know that sometimes, it is ok to relax and lower your guard around them. after all, they are humans too. so as long as the respect is evident there, there is no need to treat them like masters or what have you.

also, it's so weird to call people 20-30 years your senior by their first name, without the Mr or Mdm or uncle or auntie attached to it. but i guess that's the working environment. and i'm now used to calling the 50 plus year old CFO by his first name. =)

*the finance girls treated me to swensons today since it was my last day! yummy. had my usual fish n chips even though irene said that i could order whatever i want. hahahaha.. * anyway bought 40 pieces of fererro rochers to give away, thinking that i'd have some left over to bring home. but i underestimated the amount of people that i got to know during this 10 weeks. hence the only thing left was the box. hehe..

it's back to school for me now. whilst i said that i was gonna be ON about school this semester, the readings are really turning me off. it's gonna be a miracle if i can even complete them. =) well, we'll see we'll see.

oh yeah, as i was leaving the office, one of the girls shouted..

no i don't think i wanna change my course. even if i can.

ooooooh forgot to mention! my dad's grandis has a DVD player in the car!!!! fuyoooh~* hahahaha.. and we're going KL next next weekend.. so can watch DVDs on the way up there! wheeeeeeeee~* happy happy happy.. hehe..

sch hasn't even started and im already starting to feel the heat. (despite the fact that it's been raining cats and dogs everyday) ok haha not funny. bah.

just checked my ntu email a/c. there's an email from one of the professors saying that, "Seminars for AA201 will begin on Monday (25/7) / Tuesday (26/7)"

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

that's like NEXT WEEK! next week is week ONE! week one is supposed to be lecture week! no tutorials no seminars! grrr... there goes my tuesday. i wonder what the rush is for.

saw the readings for AA202. god. please help me live through this sem. AA202 is like AA102 mixed with OB. which i totally suck at. crapz. at least it has cool projects. (something about a board meeting act-out. whoaaaa! can dress up! haha) and the readings. omg. tonnes and tonnes of them. wish me luck.

now im rethinking my decision of taking economic theory as an elective mod this sem. would it be too much for me handle? econs has tonnes of reading too. like 4 chapters a week. crapz. what did i just get myself into? *far, i think ur best fren also taking econ theory, saw his name on the list*

by tonight, my dad's mazda 6 would be no more. okla it'd still be in existence, just not ours anymore. yup. he sold it. for the mitsubishi grandis! woohoo~* 7 seater. finally. u see, in my family, girls rule! haha.. whatever my mom wants, she gets. whatever I want, as long as my mom doesnt object to it, I get. hehe i love u daddy!

why would anyone wanna give up the mazda 6 right?

k the story is..

yours truly kept complaining that the back seat was too cramped. that's cos I have two BIG brothers. not older, just bigger. AND they take up too much space. u know how it is with guys, can never sit with their legs together. and I was uncomfortable. cos it's always so cramped. especially on long journeys. and it doesnt help that they keep on doing weights every week so that would only mean their masses were gonna get larger. so i complained. and asked for a bigger car.

then my mom saw the grandis! and it caught her eye and fancy. and she couldnt stop talking abt it. so put two and two together and you get 4. haha nola, you get a 7 seater. now my brothers can have 2 seats each! hahaha.. and I wont have to squeeze anymore! *schmile*

now i just have to learn how to handle this monster of a vehicle.

zoo and a whole lotta junk

have had a fantastic weekend so far..

fri night my mom suddenly had a craving for thosais. right after watching this documentary on India on tv. so she dragged all of us down to Little India to eat supper~* heh.. i just realised that i've not really explored Little India on my own. should try doing that someday and see what bargains I can find.

anyway supper was yummy and then walked arnd Mustafa centre for abit. it was way past midnight and that place was still jam-packed. my goodness. singaporeans don't sleep.

saturday was ZOO day! yes. ZOO day. haha.. imagine a bunch of 20 year olds (and one 18 yr old) at the zoo! got free (okla subsidised) tickets la. *thankiuk hatta n hatta's mummy* i'd say the zoo was interesting. trying to find the SAKI MONKEY.. haha cute right the name? we couldnt find it. but the picture on the board looks damn ugly. hahaha.. and yani and her red-assed baboons. and hatta and his *i wanna go to cat country! can we go to the reptile garden?*

omg yani n hatta were singing ZOO songs! like kindergarten ZOO songs! and anyhow tap pple on the back! and smelling each other. ok those two should be kept encaged. hahaha..

anyway after a while me n rozzie got tired of the animals. like animal after animal. smelly somemore. haha.. so while everyone was looking at how almost-humanlike the red assed baboons were.. me, rozzie n shah escaped! haha.. the only animal that we wanted to see then was the COW at ben n jerrys! shah sponsored the first round of ice cream! *thankiuk shah* ben n jerrys is never a let down as usual. so i was happy happy happy! hehe..

went off to meet my cousins kak shida n kak shahidah afterwards. supposed to go to that italian dessert cafe but the situation din allow for that.. *well there's always another time! hehe* so we ended up at suntec secret recipe.. wanted to eat cakes but seeing all the junk i've had the whole day (old chang kee, kfc, ben n jerrys) i decided to get some noodles. and kak shahidah treated.. so *thankiuk kak shahidah* yummy food, great company and then we saw fireworks from the ndp rehearsal! nice nice~* couldnt get any captured on my camera tho cos i was a tad too late..

and then after that was shopping time! yay-ness. spent a tad too much tho. but then again impulse shopping always is the best shopping. we were in Novo and me n kak shahidah ran up to each other with the same pair of shoes. (okla similar but they looked almost alike) *omg u gotta look at this!* hahaha.. classic la.. it din help that they were having a promotion. *buy two get 20% discount* oooh.. so i got one pair and she got one pair too! same design different colour! haha

and like less than ten minutes after that i found the perfect pair of white slip-ons that i've been looking for! charles and keith. needed one for sch. so without thinking i just grabbed that too! haha.. felt a little bad and guilty cos i had just bought the Novo shoes.. but i thought.. waddaheck! haha.. a girl can never have too many shoes! and also.. NTU students get 10% discount so.. worth it right? hehe

also bought this pretty pretty skirt from another shop kat suntec. 50% discount! how to resist? hehe so that's it. in like less than 2 hours i spent almost a hundred bucks! but im happy and satisfied with my finds.

its the little things that can make your day

i had a great great day at work today. today totally reinforced my belief in that this is the path that i wanna take. this is the career that im gonna go into. :) i love being busy. so busy that you forget to eat. no time to be bored. i love that feeling. the adrenaline rush.

i think i am more of a deadline person. i thrive on deadlines. when de deadline rush near, i'll become all hyper active and more aware of what's going on. and only then will i strive to do whatever i need to do. and somehow, most of the time, most of my best works get done very close to the deadlines. like my law assignment last sem. i started one day before it was due and i had an A!

today i had to keep calling up standard chartered (SCB) to chase them for this form to be processed. i called them up like every two hours at first. then it became every hour. then half an hour. then 20 mins. hahahahhaa.. i called them up so many times yest and today, that the whole scb customer service office probably knows me by name already! haha.. it was like after the dunno umpteenth time,

me : good afternoon, im calling from alcatel singapore..
scb : yes yes you are mardhiati right? you're calling abt so and so..

hahahaha.. it was seriously a mad rush just to get that document. and i love the feeling. at the same time, having to keep up with about 4/5 other assignments. getting documents coming in from here, there. having pple coming up to me and asking abt this, and that. asking questions about things that I have done.. it's a great feeling.* i feel important.* hahahaha..

anyway back to that document, they finally called me at 520 to tell me that it was ready! 520!!!! can u believe it? i was planning on leaving de office at 545! grr.. it was too late to arrange for courier already so i had to cab ALL THE WAY down to tampines from commonwealth AND back to commonwealth! *phew* i ended up leaving the office at abt 620 instead.. so late..

found a new place to eat at during lunch. there's a halal western food stall at holland v.. so had my fish and chips there today.. AND i had my rhumba frap again! haha that's 3 times in 2 weeks.. im seriously addicted to that.. hahaha.. yummy yum yum~*

hmmm.. i really love working. i think i much prefer working than studying. i feel so much more independent i guess. and now come to think of it, i don't think i can be a housewife. as much as it's my dream to be a tai tai housewife, i still think that i'd end up working. i love the whole rush. the deadlines. the stress. i guess i am an overachiever. im ambitious. haha why the hell did i ever question my motives for studying? i am born to be successful. it's in my blood. no way will i end up being a housewife.

talked to my colleague again who used to work for one of the big four firms. she was telling me that your year one grades have a lower weightage when computing which honours u get. i feel so relieved! haha.. cos i have sucky year one grades! one A and 7 Bs. how terrible is that? ergh although i still think first class honours is prob out of the question. but she said i should prob qualify for second upper if i keep that up. :) *there is hope* hahaha

and she also mentioned that the big 4 recruit like tonnes of NTU grads every year. but there'll still be lotsa competition. i dun care, i wanna work there. and i know, i can do it. i just need to remain focussed. get my honours. get a great job. haha mark my words, in two years time, i'll be working with ey, pwc, deloitte or kpmg. yes. mark my words. okla insyaallah. hehe..

who wants to go back-to-sch shopping with me? i was thinking of going on either the 25th or 26th of july.. if anyone's free give me a ring yeah? i need to get a bag, a new pair of shoes and some new tops..

who wants to go bangkok? this dec? im gonna plan early. i figured that's the earliest that i can go. cos the hols is almost over. and come dec, i'd have enough money again to go for a holiday. hehehe.. and if i can confirm who's going by october, i can probably get budget air tickets and save money! wheeeeeeeeee~* so tell me kay if u wanna go. and be serious. hahaha.. see la. i really really wanna go bangkok and i think they only way i can get to go is if i do the planning myself! :) owel i love planning anyway so i guess that works out perfectly~* wheeeeeee~*
