Rated PG for language.

I'm about to blog a word that I really don't like and that I don't let my kids use... Headaches SUCK!!! Having kids in pain SUCKS!! (twice now) Poor Gracie has been through the hardest time of her young life over the past few months.  She has constant head pain and it has kept her from doing everything she loves. Soccer...Piano...Hanging out with friends...Church activities...School--okay she doesn't love that one, but she's going to be doing a lot of it this summer to 'remediate' (guidance counselor lingo) 4th quarter. She's seen multiple doctors and specialists, had an MRI, just spent a few days in the hospital for a powerful IV medication (worked a little we think) and we're still searching for answers and relief. Whatever the cause (hormones? post concussion? stress? allergies? alien infiltrating her brain? (some suggestions have been almost as 'out there')) we just want her to be out of pain and have her life back.  She amazes us with her smiling and joking through it all...I fail to be so amazing.
Primary Children's Medical Center is awesome by the way...

On an unrelated note...these pictures (to the right) of my kids are ancient...will work on that soon...that won't suck.

a year later...

A year later, we are 100% sure that we made the right decision to relocate to beautiful Park City. We are home.

6420

Using Google Maps, I just discovered that our house is 6,420 feet above sea level.  We're not in Alabama anymore, but the air here is so thin that I can't think of new name for this blog.  Pictures coming soon!!

If you're birthday happens to be two weeks before moving day....

...you'll likely 'party' with your other sibling who is in the same boat...you might invite two families who have birthday kids as well...and your mom might only take one picture of the festivities...We love you Clara and David!!
 Happy Birthday!!
We're glad Cate the Great and Matt came to liven up the party!! :)
p.s. tip from David...If you wear your France soccer jersey backwards, it makes you run a lot faster!!

I heart YouTube...

We have the most talented music teachers in Hoover Schools.  I am constantly amazed at the knowledge my kids have learned in elementary school music and in Band and Choir during middle school.

Anyone who can make a 6th grade "Beginning Band" sound like THIS is a genious.  Sam's on trumpet, but you can really only see the top of his head.

HERE is most of a beautiful number by the Girls Chorale.  These are 7th and 8th graders.  Great job Gracie!

Clara's dance recital is in a few weeks and then we'll give her proper YouTube credit.... We can't wait for her to "Walk Like an Egyptian"!

I'm With the Band...

Today was Solo/Ensemble competition.  We weren't allowed into the judges room, but here's the link for an encore that Sam and his friend, Ray, did for their parents!  They played "Military March" and the judges were impressed with their musical talents AND their fashion choices.
The Warm Up

Waiting outside the judging room.

Everybody loves Mrs. Morgan!
Way to go Sam and Ray!!!

There's one in every program...

David's preschool performed a wonderful spring program of traditional songs of America last week.  They sang "Shoo Fly Don't Bother Me", "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", "When the Spirit Says 'Sing' I'll Sing", "Bluebird On My Shoulder", and "Home on the Range" among others. We're glad David was an enthusiastic participant in "God Bless America" even amidst great bladder distress. Click here for this highlight performance!

Then we went to his classroom to see his wonderful artwork from the year.  He loves his teacher Mrs. Ashlie!

Revenge

Occasionally, Gracie and Clara try to sabotage my sweet, sisterly photos.
But they can't keep from being adorable, at least some of the time!
p.s. maybe I could count this as my Christmas 2010 blog post...it might be all you get folks!
