I thought i could get out of the situation where i have to worry over money issue. But i was wrong. Unknowingly, i landed myself in the love hate relationship with money again. On and off i would thought of giving my USA trip a missed as i am worried of the total expenditure which i have to bear. Upon hearing that dad has a difficulty in finding a job that suits him really breaks my heart. I don't want him to be depressed over work but i can feel that he don't want me to know of his situation. Tears never stop rolling lately and it seems like i am back to my school days where i hide in a corner and break down into tears.
Grandfather pass away yesterday afternoon. I've only seen him 4 times after I grew up as we were 4hr flight apart. Despite not seeing him very often, I teared upon hearing the news from mom. It's kinda expected, as his health escalate downwards lately. The last time I was back to visit him was 2 years ago. I missed the chance to take a photo with him. Regrets. Guilt. Mixed feelings.... I try my best to put up a tough front in front of my family and friends. I cannot be a weakling. Here, I pray for him having a better afterlife in heaven.
The worst kind of colleague you can have is those who bring their interest to work which is of no relation to what his interest is. Playing games in office while you have task on hand? Finding plenty of excuses that you cannot submit early and ask for a longer deadline. Don't give a damn when given a task and submit crappy work. Don't even take note of what need to be done and thinking that a 2nd reminder will be given. No way. If you want people to respect you as a senior, at least show a good role model. Who would ask collegue to play games during office hours? Maybe it just you and your friend. Its not the number of years you have contributed to the company, its efficiency we are talking about here. It's been months since I am working in this korean company. Boss don't give a clear picture of what he wants from me. I tried my best to do my best and ignore what's going on with that gamer seated beside me. Always on alert when footsteps are closing in and with a click his incognition window tap will be minimised. I wonder what is the boss thinking. Paying employee to play games at work. Is he opening a online gaming developing co.?
Yet another adventure alone to the land of the Caucasians. In summary, I love the scenic views of Gold Coast. As it was a short getaway, I did not venture out of the city so that I could spend holiday at a slower pace. Here's the little details that I would love to note it down when it is still fresh in my memory.
Day 1
Started off my adventure with a SkyPoint twilight climb. The climb comes with a complementary entrance to the observation deck. The view was amazing! Spotted a whale and her calf from the deck was the most lucky thing ever!
Day 2
Went for whale watch early morning with hope that I won't give in to motion sickness. However, I end up puking after the whale was spotted even though i put on my sea sick band. It was a mild seasickness alert and yet I am still unable to withstand it. It took us quite a while before we spotted the whale and her calf after we sailed out into the open sea.
Day 3
Head down to Sea World as I purchased the combo package with Whale Watch at AUD110. Upon entering, I saw sponge bob! I tried to find the sea world little star Henry, the baby polar bear but to my disappointment he was taking a nap! I guess I am still too late to catch him playing with his parents! I guess I was too lazy to wake up earlier that day after a bad day yesterday. Sea World housed many dolphins and 6 dolphins were presented during the dolphin show! I doubt I can find that back in Singapore. The show put up by the trainers were simply amazing! Cheers to those cute and lovely dolphins! =) Jet Ski stunt was too short for entertainment! However, it's great to watch it over a meal...
Day 4
The fire alarm in our hostel went off at 5am during our sleep!! All the girls took some time before we decide to go out of our room to have a look at what's happening since there wasn't any movement...The bell went on for about half an hour as the staffs took their time to figure out what had happened. Luckily it was just a false alarm. We went back to bed after embracing the cold breeze out in the open space... Took a longer nap before I head out for my last tourist spot, Currumbin Wildlife Santuary. Lady luck was on my side! I was just in time for the crocodile photo session! It will be my regret if I missed it! They really have lots of koalas and lizards in the santuary. The koalas look so carefree as they spend their afternoon snoozing on the tree and munching their time away... There was a moment that I though I saw a stuffed toy placed in between the branches! I almost lost my phone when I left Starbucks that evening at Surfers Paradise. Thanks to the kind Asian lady who ran after me when I left my table in a hurry! I was really thankful for her kind act.
Day 5
I don't have any plans on my itinerary this day. Thus, I just walk around the shopping district and spend an hour and a half sitting at the beach watching people pass by. Take a slower pace when I travel is always what I believe when I travels alone! =)
Day 6
I had an early checkout while the rest of my dorm mates were still snuggling under their blankets after their nights out in the clubs for Ladies Night... Took the airport transfer which I booked the day before. To my surprise they were on time! But it's kinda a waste of money for me to buy the freedom pass from Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle since the transportation network in Gold Coast is very accessible! If given a chance again, I might just get the 5 day pass for unlimited travel on public bus transport. Afterall, airport transfer will bring you rounds and rounds to pick up tourists from different hotels which ends up taking a longer time to get to airport. On this last day of my trip, I lost my phone once again just when I thought it was a good ending for my 2nd adventure alone! I tried searching everywhere but to no avail. No words can describe my feeling at that moment. Thank god I observed the surrounding where I was seated which makes it easier to describe where i lost my phone! Luckily enough, the staff was so helpful to help me locate my phone outside the custom clearance and bring it to where my boarding gate was! I wasn't able to get out of the custom to retrieve my phone. Luckily I found out my phone was missing before i Board the plane. I believe it was the Japanese family who sat beside me found the phone and reported it. During this series of event, I start up a short conversation with a Malaysian guy who offers his phone so that I can try calling my number. It's yet another exciting and thrilling solo trip in my life!
It was my first time travelling overseas with my buddy, Crystal! We did not research enough for our trip which resulted in spending more than what most of the tourist would pay. Take for example, a canoeing trip to Phang Nga Bay would cost about 700 Thai Bahts if you purchase the tour package when you arrive in Patong Town itself instead of 1950 Thai Bahts when you book online. From my understanding, the local tour agency charges different rates for tourist of different countries.
We were not able to catch the sunset for our canoeing trip due to bad weather conditions. Nevertheless, it was the most memorable trip ever in my life so far! Paddling in the open sea on an open deck canoe without a life vest on bad water conditions... That's when the trust in your partner comes in. =)
My plans to take photos with tiger have cancelled due to the delay in the opening of the Tiger Kingdom. Hence we have more time for our Island hopping adventure. We sat on the cushioned seats at the bow of the speed boat spending most of our time shouting "woooahhh" whenever our bum leaves the seats as the hull of the boat drops down after hitting the crest of the oncoming waves! It's was really fun and I would love to sit in front again when I go on a sea expedition again! The view of Maya Bay looks like a painting itself. The limestones, caves and clear blue water paints a beautiful picture for our last day of off-island adventures =)
We didn't do much shopping as most of the items offered by many stalls were similar. However, the price may varies depending on your bargaining skills and the comparison of prices offered by different stall owners.
Road ahead seems rocky and uncertain. Is that what we call "adventure"? I hope it won't be too much for me to handle. 3 months probation is coming to an end... One colleague resigned and "someone" gonna take over her job. Let's see what is under her sleeves.
While others are stressed with too much work to do, I am stressed over no work to be done... To make things worst, my boss ask me to submit a daily report on what we have done for that day and what we plans to do for the next day!
