Saturday Nights

You know you are a loser when your Saturday night consists of:
  1. Going to a baby shower...yes a baby shower, not even a bridal shower. ugh. I am old.
  2. Making 3 dozen sugar cookies for no one but yourself, then deciding oh I am still bored so I'll make another 3 dozen.
  3. Cleaning out your kitchen cupboards and scrubbing them down.
  4. Blogging about how big of a loser you are.
Time to make new friends, ONCE AGAIN.
Friends, please stop getting married. I promise I'll still be fun after 6 months.

Summer

Is summer really already over? It went by way too fast!

Its only be the 3rd day of school and I am procrastinating. I guess I am experiencing senioritis in college too. In less than four months, I will be done with nursing school. Weirdest thought ever. In less than 5 months, I will hopefully be a Registered Nurse. Even weirder.

On another note...my height. Can I just say that I love my height? That used to not be the case. I was awkward and self conscious in Jr high and a little bit in high school. But now, I am LOVING it. It makes me unique and stand out from other girls. Other than being a little intimidating, having to buy expensive jeans for the length, and being taller than more then half the world, it has it positives!

Weekly people ask and say these things to me....
  • How tall are you?
  • Wow, you must have played volleyball and basketball
  • You are a tall girl
  • You have the longest legs I've ever seen
  • Would you ever date someone shorter than you?
How could I complain about something making me unique from others?
  • No one ever has a hard time finding me
  • I can always reach the top shelf
  • It is a ice breaker for many to ask me about my height
  • I can speed walk pretty fast.
  • I'm  a twin tower (#1 in fact) :)

Legs for days

My grandpa used to call me legs and he had every right to. Right?

p.s. Dating is harder being 5'11. Less choices; too many short boys!

Optimistic

Over the downfalls in my life, my mom has helped me to realize there is always something you can be optimistic about during these trials. This summer has had plenty of downfalls including complicated relationships, canceled trips, bail outs, etc. So to be positive, this summer has been one of the greatest adventures I have ever had.

No roommates could replace the ones I have had this summer. Our adventures...

I have an awesome job. Even though school causes me to get burnt out from it, it really is great. Who else can work full time, but still have 4 days off a week? I have the best coworkers and have made great friends there too.

I was able to spend 3 weekends in a row with my family. I have the cutest nephews in the world. And no, you cannot argue with me on this one.

So even though dating sucks, I can't go to Kenya, school starts soon, and I'm loosing 2 of my roommates life is still good. :)

Another Wedding

In less than an hour, I am heading north once again for a best friends wedding. I am finally accepting the fact that if you become my best friend, you will get married within the year. Soon I may be the only single lady left in this world. But I am completely okay with that.
Parker and Karissa

This summer has been adventurous, dramatic, fun, emotional, tiring, relaxing, and everything I hoped it to be. My new roommates are perfect. We laugh so hard our stomachs hurt on a daily basis. We eat constantly including Arctic Circle, Swig, Cafe Rio, and popsicles. And we are continually playing. Sadly, we only have less than a month together before Ashley ditches us to go to Provo.

Me, Ashley, Megan, Maureena

Since March, I have been looking forward for August because of my trip to Kenya. Sadly, this week it was decided that I would not be able to go anymore. I am completely bummed out. I hope next summer I will be able to figure something else out so that I can go and do nursing outside of the United States. (Plus I will be a real nurse by then. Yay!) But hey, I still have 3 weeks off of work to do whatever I want. So there is a plus!

Well there is a bunch of ramblings for you mom!

P.S. If this doesn't make sense, blame it on the graveyards. I worked last night and still haven't gone to bed.

Bitter Sweet

What a bitter sweet weekend. So many positives and negatives!

  • (+) Got a Level 3 on a nursing test. This is a big deal to get that score. Getting that level put me in the 98th percentile of the nation for nursing students. I guess I am ready for the NCLEX, well at least for pharmacology.
  • (-) Karissa moving home for the summer. She's my other half. We literally do EVERYTHING together. Summer moving and going on a mission. Sum keeps me sane.
  • (+) Having a fun bbq with Nell and Nat. I met new people and got to know other friends better.
  • (-) Moving. I have way too much crap. Really though.
  • (+) Moving. I love moving to a new place. It gives me the feeling of a "fresh start." Plus this time I was able to hang out with Steve and Goeke while moving. :)
  • (-) Finding out information about a boy.
  • (+) Temple with Elza, Elza's sister, and friend.
  • (+) A brand new nephew! He's the cutest thing ever. I won't deny it. My siblings make cute babies.
  • (+) Coming home for a few days and spending time with my parents.
Last day together.

Nell, Tace, Kars

New roommates, old roommates, and friends!

New Obsession...Again

I have another obsession. I know, usually my obsessions deal with food, but this time it doesn't. Lets be honest, I have an addictive personality. Once I like something, I need to have it a lot. Or do it a lot. Sometimes I even have to force myself to literally stay away from it (like Pretzel M&M's). Things I think I will always be addicted to:
  • Sun
  • Adrenaline
  • Endorphines
  • My phone
  • Treats
  • Sleep
Things I am currently obsessed with:
  • Tennis. I literally play it as much as possible with my busy schedule. Sometimes Eliza comes and plays. But normally I try to play doubles with Karissa and two girls named Janelle and Natalie. We have so much fun together because we are all on the same level and help each other to get better. Plus we always end up laughing hysterically at something.
  • Mango Mountain Dew. I have always hated Mt. Dew. Pete would drink it all the time and I would tell him it looked like he was drinking pee. I hate the citrus taste of it. But this amazing drink place in St. G called Swig mixes mango puree and Mt. Dew together. Its so amazing. On my super long days of clinicals and work, I stalk up on this.
Well that is all about my obsessions.
2 weeks until school is out!! Yay!!

Conference Weekend.

I've always been a big fan of conference weekend. I mean who wouldn't like having church on the couch? This time my parents decided to come south to visit me and the Lee's.

Friday:
I cleaned my disgustingly dirty house before my parents came into town. Every time they have seen my house it has a weird smell and is dirty, so I thought I'd let them see it clean. I even bought a Swiffer Sweep Vac. This thing is awesome. Its so much better than sweeping and it sucked up everything!
I'd recommend buying it! Especially if you hate sweeping.
After cleaning my house, I helped Elza get ready for Eric's somewhat surprise party. He had never had a birthday party before so being the good wife she is, she threw him one. I didn't take many pictures though.
This was mine, Steve's, and Ruben's job. Grilling...

Of course they had to play sand VB

More of the group
Saturday:
I woke up and cleaned the rest of my house. After watching the 1st session at my house, I met up with my parents and Lukas at a park. Lukas played on the playground, while my parents tried to listen to the 2nd session. They didn't last long because it was too hot for them.

We then went and got lunch and took it back to my house to finish the rest of conference. Lukas colored, Grandpa looked through Where's Waldo, Grandma rested, and I worked on a wreath.

We then went back to a park. Grandpa and I played tennis and Lukas was our ball boy. We wore him out collecting all of those balls. He felt like his legs didn't work.
While the boys were at Priesthood meeting the girls, Lukas, and Fischer went out to eat and ran a few errands.

He liked his apples and peanut butter, until we asked him if he liked them.

This picture is hilarious. He was so tired from the long day, especially from being the ball boy.

That's much better! Grandma and Lukas

Cute kid!

Mommy and son!
I know there are no pictures of cute Fischer, but he was there too.

Sunday: We watched conference at the Lee's and had delicious chicken enchiladas. After the last session, the parents left and I went home to take a 3 hour nap.

It was a good, relaxing weekend. Its so nice having the Lee's close to me and having the parents come down for the weekend. I always love conference weekend because I feel newly refreshed and ready to do good. I am grateful for the leaders of the church and what they expressed and taught this weekend. I think the theme this time was service. Just another answer that I need to be going to Kenya this summer. :)
