A Week Full of Firsts
It's been a little over a week since we've been home from China. Well, not really if you count being gone to MN. Silas has been home for good since Sunday night. He is doing really well. We are adjusting, he is adjusting and I know it will take some time. For the most part though, it is going really well. He is sleeping fairly well, eating great, and enjoys playing with the girls. He also is having tantrums, crying and well - trying to learn to play nicely! The good definitely outweighs the bad! Enjoy pictures for all of Silas' firsts!
Another first - his first party! Our friend Suzanna turned 4 and had a little get together with water balloons and Popsicles. Madelyn accidentally hit Silas in the face with a water balloon, after the initial shock wore off he thought it was the funniest thing.
Another first! Swimming at the Y. Our little boy who was scared to death of water is 2 weeks ago is becoming a little fish. He loved playing in the water and splashing around.

Aloha!

Today we celebrated Madelyn's 5th birthday! Her actual birthday is while we are in China so we just moved the celebration up a few weeks. It was a busy day, my shower in the morning and then her party in the afternoon. It was a really fun day though. She was so excited and really enjoyed having her friends over.
She wanted a Hawaiian theme, and it ended up being great! Her friends came dressed Aloha style and we made a mermaid craft, played limbo, ate cupcakes and ice cream and played outside. My friend Lennie made the cutest cupcakes complete with sand, water, beach balls and little umbrella's! They were a hit.

Celebrating Silas!

Today my great friends Mandy, Lennie, Emily and Becky gave me the most wonderful shower. I am in awe of how blessed I am to have such wonderful girlfriends! It was great to have so many people come together to support us as we add Silas to our family. People - the Groth house now has BLUE! It was so fun to open boy toys and blue clothes! We got tons of great things that we need like some cups, plates, clothes, potty seats, diapers, underwear and socks, toy organizers, a lamp, a riding toy, a car seat, bibs, a beautiful blanket my grandma made, the cutest stuffed frog my mom made, sheets...
We had brunch and my friends and sister made the greatest food. We had breakfast casserole, hashbrown casserole, cinnamon rolls, cream cheese and chocolate chip dip, fruit kabobs, orange cranberry scones, ham & biscuits and punch. It was delicious! We also played some really cute games. One was making different words out of Silas' Chinese and American names. The other two were adoption related. One was guessing if celebrity's were adopted or had adopted - my mom won which is hilarious because she probably didn't even know who half of the people were! The other was a memory game about what items we would need on our flight to China!
Overall, it was the sweetest, best celebration. Thank you so much to the hostesses - I love you all and am so blessed to have each one of you in my life!

Recital!
Wow, we are so blessed! Jason & I can not even to begin to tell you how proud we are of our girls! I know, we are bragging, but this is our blog! This afternoon the girls had their recital and did beautifully. Caroline was a teddy bear and Madelyn danced to a merry-go-round song. They practiced so hard all through the year and had so much fun today. Enjoy our pictures!
