Welcome to Grover
Welcome to The Grover Home, Utah’s premiere vacation home. You are one of a select few invited guests who share in the opportunity to experience the solitude and unique wonders of central Utah while staying in this one-of-a-kind facility designed by the prestigious architectural firm, Talbot Architects.
The Wilson Family Trust developed The Grover Home in the hope that it would serve as a unique and frequently utilized retreat and gathering place for member families. Your membership in The Grover Home Association provides you with free and unlimited access to the facility beginning with the grand opening in January of 2009. The Trust requests only that you follow The Grover Home Rules and Instructions and that you utilize the facility often. Enjoy.
Grover Home Rules and Instructions
- Schedule your visit using the calendar features of this site.
- If another family is scheduled during the time you desire, feel free to coordinate a joint visit by contacting the other member of the Association. If agreed, add your family name to the calendar.
- Your key will open the main entry door of The Grover Home. Keys for the sliding door and garage door will be in the Home.
- If visiting in the winter, you will find the thermostats initially set to 50 degrees. You will need to set thermostats in all utilized rooms to the desired temperature and expect it will take a few hours to entirely warm the home. If you are not using all of the bedrooms, close the door on that room and keep the temperature at 50. Don’t forget to reset all thermostats to 50 degrees at departure.
- Instructions for all appliances, thermostats, etc are found in a binder located in the walk-in closet off the master bathroom.
- For planning purposes there are three bedrooms. Each has a queen sized bed. There are also two sofas that can be used as beds and two cots in the garage. Bedding supplies for the queen beds is provided. Bring all other necessary bedding.
- During summer months food is available at markets in Torrey and Loa. In winter months the only source is the market in Loa which is not a minor journey. Likewise, restaurants are plentiful around Torrey in the summer, but almost not existent in the winter. Plan your menu accordingly.
- Use of the loft is limited to those old enough to safely ascend and descend the ladder and not prone to gymnastic moves on the loft railing. Otherwise, a parental escort is required in the loft.
- Leave The Grover Home in better shape than you found it. You must ensure that it is clean and that all lights and appliances are turned off.
- Have fun.

Winter Wonderland
There was a lot of snow on our recent stay at the Grover Home. Here are some pictures:

We had to walk up to the cabin from the road because there was no way our mini van was getting up the driveway.
We found the tracks of some big creature between the house and the garage. The small holes in the snow next to the prints are my footprints.
This is evidence of our getting the van stuck in the snow on the main road a number of times.

Drug Bust
The cabin this last week was awesome! It was fun seeing the family at night after the class went out for different exercises. However if any of you go down this next week, be watchful of the 5 banditos on the loose. Their marijuana patch valued at $60 million on the street just got busted. The banditos are armed and desperate.

Guest Book
We just got back yesterday from our first trip down to Grover and had a great time. The boys were a bit petrified of the ladder at first (Scott didn't want to come back down) but by the time we left they couldn't get enough of the loft. We took down some kids books and a bunch of toys - they are in the closet in the right bedroom (the one with the black bedspread). There are lots of cars, a ball popper, a little basketball game, and a bunch of other random things which I cannot recall at the moment. Should keep the kids busy for at least an hour . . . hopefully! We also took Kevin's Nintendo 64 with Mario Cartwheel (as the boys call it) and some other games. We left it up in the loft closet.
We drove to the Anasazi Museum down in Boulder - it was $10 for our family and the boys liked the replica house outside, but otherwise there wasn't too much there besides some artifacts to see. The drive there was amazing though - you drive up and over the mountain and the view is truly spectacular! We went to Fruita, but there was no fruit to speak of yet, other than the wild mulberries that we tried - the ranger told us what the berries were at the kid's nature/rock center (can't remember exactly what it's called) - otherwise we wouldn't have dared to eat them. At the Gifford House in Fruita, Kevin bought the boys some little cups of homemade ice cream from the store - wow was it good. You'll have to try it! We had a great time and the boys can't wait to go back!

Games and Toys
If you have any games you don't play or toys that you would like to donate to the cabin, feel free to bring them when you come. Roger and I have a couple bags full of board games and a few puzzles we will be taking down when we go. It would be fun to have a large selection of games, puzzles, toys, or whatever to use while down there. Mom said there is plenty of space outside to play games outdoors too like badminton, croquet, or things like that. So if you find anything in your house you want to donate, feel free!

Reservations Calendar
We have created a calendar using Google calendars so you can let everyone know when you plan on going to the Grover Home for a visit. Please mark on the calendar the dates you plan on being there and which family members are going to be there with you.
When you set up a blogger account, you also have a Google account. You will need this account to access and update the calendar. You will receive an invitation to the calendar shortly. To get to the google calendar from the blog, you click on the Google calendars icon in the lower right hand corner. ****Be sure when you enter your dates on the Google Calendar that you have selected the Grover Home Reservations Calendar. I think it sets up one for your email account too so make sure you have the right one.****
If you have any questions on how to use the calendar, let me know. I put an example of a reservation on the calendar called "Quick Family Vacation" the week of December 22nd so you can see what we meant this calendar to be used for. You can see that you can click on the reservation in the blog and see the details I typed into the Google calendar. When you enter something on the Google calendar, you just need to refresh the blog and it will appear here also.
