christmas 2011

So now that Valentine's Day has passed, I decided to finally blog about our Christmas:) It was the busiest Christmas Day we've ever had, but so much fun! Here are glimpses of our day...

The kids got to open their gifts from Santa before 9:00 am church. Santa brought the girls Lalaloopsy dolls and Grant got characters from Toy StoryMy Christmas beauties all ready for church
After church we opened gifts then went to my parents' house for a quick lunch
Grant LOVES getting clothes....no doubt that he's my son!
This was the best picture I could get of the three of them in their Christmas outfits
After lunch, we all drove down to San Diego to spend time with cousins who were visiting from Pennsylvania. These five had so much together (they stayed with us during the week after Christmas)! Ayla and Adam belong to my cousin Tom and his wife Debi.
I thought I'd include the official 2011 Santa Picture (taken the week before Christmas).
It turned out EXACTLY the way I thought it would!

9 years

They said, I bet, they'll never make it,
but just look at us holding on,
we're still together, still going strong.
You're still the one! -Shania Twain

our daddy's day

Rick loves us like crazy and works SO hard for our family. He often doesn't get the appreciation he deserves, so we decided to plan a special day for him the day before Father's Day. The WHOLE day was a surprise. We started HIS day with indoor cart racing.

the girls never tired of waving and cheering for Rick EVERY time he passed by (that's 32 times!!!)

We had a picnic at the park...it was a gorgeous day

Fed the ducks
and stopped for a refreshing treat on the way home!
Rick, we hope you felt the luv! Oh, and thanks babe for keeping your eyes closed in the car and letting everything be a surprise....because we both know I wouldn't have been able to play along like that:)

the graduates

On June 7th, Charlotte and Audrey graduated from preschool. The preschool put on the CUTEST program filled lots on singing and dancing. The theme was "Animation Celebration". Everybody sang a song from an animated movie. The girls sang a duet to "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" from Cinderella. They did such a good job! The preschool had a dance teacher come in to teach them routines. All the girls at the preschool did a ballet dance.

(with Ms. Donna and Ms. Sylvia)
The girls have had a blast these last two years. They will miss their teachers and all of their friends. I can't believe how much they have grown and learned. Their teachers have done such a great job prepping them for kindergarten.....I just wish someone would prep me because I am not quite ready to let them go!

memorial day weekend

We started off our three-day weekend by going to a community grand opening for Rick's work. They had a whole pirate theme going on. The kids all got goodie bags with hats, candy, "treasures", etc.

This picture cracks me up! We thought the girls looked more like nuns than pirates!
Grant did look pretty cute in the bandana-hat.

While walking through the models, we spotted "Happy House" in one of the garages....can you say photo opp?

On Monday, we got up bright and early to go pick blueberries.

Last year, Grant couldn't have cared less about what we were all doing, but this year, he was a full participant. In fact, he would start screaming if he wasn't close enough to pick the blueberries.
We had to stop him from trying to put every single blueberry in his mouth. He snuck in a couple.
Look at those chubby little fingers!
Afterwards, we went out to breakfast. The girls thought they were so fancy ordering parfaits for breakfast...because everything sounds fancier in french (if your kids read "Fancy Nancy" that will totally make sense)
When we got home, we surprised the girls with hula-hoops. They had been asking if we could buy them some every day for about two weeks. They were ecstatic....that is fancy way of saying they were excited (any other "Fancy Nancy" fans????)
