Little Kicks

Several weeks ago, I started experiencing what I now think is the greatest part of pregnancy- the kicks! They started out as a little flutter. I would second guess myself whether they were baby or not. Now there is no denying that she is kicking. I can feel them outside also which is an awesome feeling. She has been responding to sounds also. Billy was talking to her, and she immediately kicked him. It was pretty funny! At the beginning of the pregnancy, I would worry so much about whether everything was okay, but now I have a daily reminder that she is doing great!

Nursery

We've made some decisions about the nursery. This is the crib that we picked out-

Here's the dresser/ changing table-

I have been eyeing this bedding since the beginning of my pregnancy secretly hoping that we would have a girl so that we could use it in the nursery! I love the colors green and pink. We looked at some paint options and are going to paint the room a really pale green.

I'll be sure to send updates of the room as we make progress!

Kids

I told my 3rd graders at school that I was pregnant, and I've been amazed at their reaction. I wasn't really expecting much of a reaction, but they have been so excited- especially the girls! They instantly told me all the names that I should use and talk about it all the time. We had our Valentine's Party at school yesterday. On Thursday one of my girls said, "I'm excited about two things...1. Your baby 2. The party." I have also gotten a few letters from students about the baby and how pumped they are.

Kids are funny. I love all of their comments.

Welcome!

Hi everyone! I decided to create a blog so that friends and family from all over can keep up to date with the latest happenings in our lives. Also, I think that it will be fun to look back at this exciting time years down the road. Let me catch you up to date so far- we just recently found out that we will be having a little girl! She is due June 22nd, and we have decided that we are going to name her Avery. The jury's still out on the middle name. Here are some ultrasound pictures that we were given when we went for the big anatomy scan. (They were done in 4D which made them very realistic. It was kind of creepy to see her so up close!)

It was a really exciting day when we went for the ultrasound. We were so anxious and excited to find out the sex and to make sure that everything was going well. We were met in the ultrasound room by the sonographer, Mohamed. He told us that he was going to take lots of pictures and then the doctor would come afterwards to talk about them. I asked him if he would be able to tell us the sex, and he said yes. We were expecting a couple of minutes to go by before we would know, but he literally put the wand down on my belly and said, "It's a girl." Billy and I looked at each other and laughed. We thought surely he couldn't have seen anything yet. About a minute later I asked him if he could tell yet. He said, "Yes, I already told you...it's a girl." When I asked how he could know without hardly even moving the wand, he replied, "because I'm good." I guess you get really good at telling when you do that all day long. We had a weird feeling all along that it would be a girl so it didn't seem like a huge surprise when he told us. We are so excited about her and can't wait to meet her!
